Thank you for bringing this complaint to our attention This is a simple matter of a family not reading a contract then wanting to do things differently, then how NGTC does them This family asked a coach, during his coaching time on the floor and without access to his computer, if they owed money I am not sure how he could answer without a computer He recalls saying “I think you are paid up, but I would have to check This is not an uncommon answer when asked a question during coaching time as it’s vital the coach remains focused on his/her gymnasts for their safety, and a generic answer such as this usually works to make the person asking the question to move quietly asideWe provide all members full 24/access to their own Parent Portal From within this secure site, they can check balances, review charges and manage payment options for their account The family referenced throughout this email had such access, with full ability to easily change password if they lose itAs part of our XCEL Team, this (member) family signed, not only the NGTC Rules and Regulations that all members must sign, but also the NGTC XCEL Team Handbook This handbook details all charges and costs for the season as they relate to Team gymnastics Part of those fees are meet fees that we charge to enable the gymnast to participate in the upcoming season’s gymnastics meets Those payments are spread out for the benefit of all families, and anyone that needs them spread out further is welcome to submit a “Meet Payment Extension Form”, upon which they indicate what payment will work for them This family fell behind the scheduled meet fee payments as of the first payment due date I called them and spoke to the MotherShe asked if she could pay one meet at a time I told her we had a payment plan and would be happy to extend out the payments She told me was the amount she wanted to pay I said OK and reminded her that formal paper work would have to be filled out in order to have and extended payment plan implemented She said OK, and said she would come in the next day to fill-out the form She never showed to fill-out the Meet Payment Extension The next time I heard from the family, the Mom said she was going to cancel her membership I told her of the fees involved $drop fee and all past due charges (to get her account current) and she got very upset We were willing to work with this family We even discounted their ending balance from $to $ The Coach told them they had to pay quickly for the $deal or they would have to pay the full amount Tuition would continue to accrue until our official Drop Notice is completed and submitted to the office, along with payment to bring the account current If they did not do a drop notice the account would be considered delinquent and then be subject to collections, as per written company policy This family did have account balances from August that needed to be paid before the Drop Notice would be considered in effect We cannot discount the discount they have already received NGTC has already paid funds out for meet fees to host institutions Our meet fees totals are computed based upon spreading the total cost for the meet (i.ecoaches pay, travel, per diem, etc.) over the number of gymnasts attending that competition (That is the reason for the stated $drop fee as we’ve already computed costs for each family based upon having a set number of gymnasts.) This family wanted to pay each meet at a time, a policy that NGTC has never allowed However, we were willing to extend out their payments to a plan and monthly amount of their choosing All of this is clearly explained in the handbook and the separate meet fee price sheet that all parents are given, and sign, in July The special payment plan was also included in the handbook packet given in JulyAs far as “rips” from the bars, it is a very and an expected consequence of doing hours of gymnastics each week It is caused from the friction on the bars against the hands and is actually considered by most gymnasts “a right of passage” You treat them with tea bags, and sometimes hemorrhoid cream The acid found in tea bags allows rips to heal much quicker than doing nothing at all or using expensive medical treatments NGTC also sells a product called Rip Fix to help heal hands Any time a gymnast increases gym time, hands will hurt until the skin toughens up to withstand the friction., These rips are no different than that of a weight lifter The balloon she referenced is a widely accepted technique used by weight lifters, cross-fit and gymnasts to significantly reduce friction between the bar and the hand We have had a great deal of success for other athletes using this technique It really does keep the rip from getting worse and we have had gymnasts able to participate pain-free using the balloon Lastly, the threatening collection email she referenced was sent by an NGTC Staff member This is, once again, standard practice and more or less a form letter that is used for all families in a similar circumstance Nobody threatened anything or anybody It clearly states that accounts have to be current with a zero balance at time of drop I have attached a number of documents that should be helpful in your investigation of this matter Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questionsThank you for your assistance with this matter

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:a screen shot of a text is not an acceptable defense My daughter did not punch any "wall" The wall they speak of are gym mats , and she did not make a fist or raise her hand or anything of the sortHer arms were by her side , and she did no such thing ...regardless of the fact the behavior of th staff at NGTC was unexcusable and inappropriate and I was also physical touched As *** attempted to steal back the dollar check they had written meI want a full refund of the remaining due to having to relocate my child's party and pay for everyone attending and the new location We did not utilize the equipment in their gym nor their space for any amount of time The time spent there was spent being harassed and treated like crap and being followed by the AGGRESIVE man that owns the place

*** Please See Attached Documents ***
Dear
Revdex.com, 5-08-
I would like to address complaint number ***. This complaint was made by a parent of a student, named *** *** ***. I will to refer to my company as NGTC throughout this document. The legal name is Northwest Gymnastics Training Center, LLC., owned by Tina S*** as a Sole Proprietorship.
I will try to go in order of her complaints on the form.
She states that she followed a coach from another gym to NGTC. This is true. She followed Allyson A*** to NGTC from another gym.
*** states that she spoke to an owner about anxiety issues her daughter suffers from and on many other occasions. She may have spoken with the Director of Gymnastics, My husband, Eric. However, He is not an owner of NGTC and none of our children have ever suffered from anxiety. We have a child that used to be very quiet, but Eric would never have said that she suffered from anxiety. He certainly would not have said it would be a “problem”, as we have dealt with A LOT of kids with “anxiety disorders” over the years and do know how to help them through their difficulties and have the successes to prove it
*** child was invited onto our TOPS program as she has the talent to be put in that group. She was also placed on pre-team and then quickly promoted to competition team. The TOPS program is not for everybody. As an invitation only program, if a gymnast does not want to work hard to get those skills, strength and flexibility, it is not the program for them and the invitation can be revoked. This program is for the Elite of the Elite, young gymnasts, and if *** thought it was unsafe, she should have pulled her child from that class immediately. She is her child’s first advocate. We can only do what she has signed up for. At that time, we were under the impression that this is what she wanted for her daughter. She never once came to me or the coach with a safety concern. As a parent, that should have been her first step and we encourage all parents to come to us with concerns .
As for contesting a scores, that is very unusual at a level competition. Most of the times parents think their kids scored low, but the coach knows what the child did wrong in their routine. Hence, contesting of the score would be a waste of time for both coach and the judges(At some meets, contesting of scores is not ever an option). Now, if it was a matter of a child going or not going to a high level meet (like nationals), you bet they would contest over any disagreements. At this low a level, the gymnasts are just learning to compete and families need to trust the judges and the coaches. Our handbook also says that kids move ups are ultimately, at the coaches discretion, regardless of scores acquired.
*** speaks poorly about Coach Allyson. However, if she was so disliked by this parent, then why, after NGTC said she could not return, did she text the coach, and request private lessons at a different gym? As her child had always done privates with this coach and the mother wanted nothing to change. Why would she want to do privates with a mean, unsafe coach? These are the real questions.
The parent was removed from NGTC (therefore, unfortunately, the child as well) because we have a very strict “no drama” policy. This parent, after we spent hours making a success plan for her daughter, chose to talk with a person known to make up stories and believe that what the person had to say was more truthful than what we had to say. That other parent was also subsequently removed from the gym and her daughter from our program.
This boils down to a parent that was EXTREMELY upset that her child was not moving to the next level. This is not unusual in gymnastics. However, her EXTREME reaction was and will not be tolerated at NGTC. We move kids according to many factors and those factors can change with a child’s maturity, attitude and general skills. Never will it be made as a result of a parental threat or complaints
*** sat on the couch (in our lobby) questioning all the parents on if their kids moved up and then would go into how her daughter did not get moved up and how it wasn’t right. We had asked that she not come in at all because we noticed if *** was not around her daughter was A LOT more successful. She made the decision to disregard that agreement and then when the success plan was made, we insisted she had to stay
out of the gym, for the sake of her own child. There are some child/parent relationships that just do better when the parents are not in the same room. This says nothing bad about parenting or their relationship, it is just a fact. Her daughter was definitely negatively affected by *** presence and that is why we had asked her to stay out of the gym. We cannot be successful with children if we, as professionals, are ignored and the success plans we try to implement with the parent are ignored.
We have meetings during which we inform the parents the rules. These rules are re-iterated in the registration form which is signed and initialed by the parent, and in the team contract they sign annually to be a member of the (competitive) team. Our rules are not a surprise and the outcome is always the same. We ask them to leave
We will not be the “Dance Mom” type gymThere are too many gyms that put up with those behaviors and let the parents run the gym. We are successful because we as the professionals are running our gym and will not tolerate any nonsense. Our decisions are based on science, logic and years of experience successfully doing what they pay us to do, teach gymnastics and lifelong skills and habits
Safety factors are at play with a child that constantly cries and distracts her team mates. *** (*** daughter) cried daily before and/or during practice. This was a huge distraction not only to her teammates, but the other classes within the gym. Any distractions such as this creates dangers as each gymnast must fully focus on skills to remain safe.
When they move up (to another level as *** wanted for ***), they are doing even more difficult and, hence, dangerous skills making distractions even that much more problematic. We are proud of our commitment to safety. Our coaches have the best training of any gym in the area. They are sent annually to the National Training Center (no other gym in this area takes continuing education as serious as NGTC). You can come by and look at our facility for yourself. We are one of the only gyms around that uses 1-3/inch carpet-bonded foam over percent of our facility. This is to protect the athletes and the coaches from injuries. Our record speaks for itself.
As for not being told certain information. It is clearly stated in our handbook that you will be kicked out of NGTC if you choose to bad mouth the NGTC, the coaches, or the staff.
Also printed on the registration form that is initialed by *** is “required behaviors: NGTC reserves the right to remove or deny students/parents whose actions are deemed unruly and /or dangerous to others by the coaches and/ staff of NGTC. Those students/parents may not be allowed to participate in team or recreational classe offered by NGTC. I understand that if this rare occurrence should happen to my child; I will not be entitled to a refun, partial or whole“
Also under drop policy: which is also initialed : “NGTC does not provide refunds.”
Clearly *** has forgotten what she has signed.
NGTC did listen to her complaints and we explained what she was feeling was a part of gymnastics and then designed a beautiful success plan that took hours of meetings with ***. Both myself, Tina and my Husband Eric, spent (in separate meetings) hours of meetings with this parent to help her child be successful. She then turned around that evening and told us we were really not running our gym, it was being run by somebody else, and that could not be any farther from the truth. Would my husband and myself had spent that many hours with her making a success plan if Allyson was running our gym?
NGTC did immediately contact a police officer when we realized the smell involved marijuana. Because we could not provide evidence There was nothing that could be done. This mom just thinks she knows all the facts when she indeed, does not.
The only time this Mom has come to me with any complaints was strictly a complaint that another child, that did less meets than ***, moved up and that her child did not move up. Never once did she ask for a meeting to see what was going on with the marijuana smell. If she would have asked, I could have given her the facts!
As for the marijuana smell, that was handled by contacting the tenant next door directly. It was not ignored. I called the county and went to the other tenant with a stack full of print outs that clearly stated the laws and the fines (guided by Multnomah). It was handled in a very adult fashion and has not happened since then.
Prior to that incident, we did have an illegal grow operation, next door, that we all legitimately thought was a skunk in the walls, and were dealing with the landlord, who evicted that tenant immediately. I have a bunch of texts to prove these matters.
In closing here are quotes from our team handbook: Page top paragraph in bold says, “It is also possible that a gymnast will have to leave our program because of the actions or inaction of her parents. While we never want to punish a child for the actions of her parent(s), we will not tolerate parents who, by their words and actions, do not support the policies and values of our team program and/or do not demonstrate trust in NGTC and its coaches.”
Page 6: number under Parent Commitment: 2. Communicate with the coaches regarding any problems. We are in business to serve you and your childYour thoughts are important to us. COMPLAINING TO OTHER PARENTS CANNOT SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM, NOR CAN WE SOLVE THEM IF WE DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THEMWe feel that the support of our team parents is important for team morale and unity. We will come to you if we hear that you have been making negative comments regarding the team program. Please come to us first if you have concerns!
Page 7: Moving from Level to Level : Moving from level to level
The coaches, based upon scores from the meet season, attendance at workouts, skill level, and the attitude of the gymnast, will decide which gymnasts move up a levelThis decision will be made in the best interest of the child. As a gymnast moves up, her responsibility to workout and to participate in scheduled meets increases
We require the compulsory gymnast to achieve at least two 34.0+ and our optional gymnasts to achieve at least two 36.00+ All Around scores in one competition season
Page 5: # under Team Guidelines: 3. Athletes work hard and try your best. This is all that we will ever ask of you, and this is always what you should demand of yourself. Do not compare yourself with other gymnasts. You are all different and will advance at different rates. Only concern yourself with things that YOU can control which are YOUR ATTITUDE, YOUR EFFORT… YOUR GYMNASTICS!
These are all the rules that were broken by this mom that was upset that a chld, not her own, was moved up. She clearly forgot that she had just signed our handbook.
Attached is the NGTC Handbook in its entirety, the original signed registration form, the newer signed registration form, the signed handbook page and any other relevant data. Please let me know if you need any other documentation.
Thanks for your time in this matter!
Sincerely,

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because this is not about us not reading the NGTC contract, this is about a business that is more concerned about getting money rather than seeing our child succeed. Our family has paid a lot of money to make our daughter's gymnastics dream come true, but unfortunately NGTC does not care about helping young athletes succeed. In my original complaint I attached a copy of the email from EJ, one of the trainers, that alone shows how threatening that was and he violated their own contract by saying that after we sign the 30 day cancellation notice, our daughter will not be able to attend team practice anymore at all, that clearly violates what their own contract states. After we showed that email to our daughter, she was very shocked to read it and stated that she can't believe they would treat us like that, she also kept asking "why do we have to pay for meets that I won't attend?" Also, when I was talking to one of the owners named Tina, and when I started crying on the phone trying to explain things and asking her to help us, she passed the phone to her son EJ without saying a single word, she treated me and my family like we meant nothing to them. It was the worst customer service that anyone can get. Our family paid close 2 thousand dollars for not even a year of gymnastics, anytime I say that to anyone they can't believe that and after all of that, the last thing we wanted was to cancel, but at the same time I will not be putting so much money into a business that was clearly more concerned about money than helping our family make it happen for our daughter.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

[redacted] did indeed book a birthday party with NGTC from 5-7PM on the 13th of March, 2016.  However, events did not play out quite like she is saying. Her number-one complaint, from the minute she walked in, was the decorations, or more precisely, the lack thereof.   Her...

party was the last party of 4 parties that weekend and 3rd one on March 13th.   This [redacted] party actually received all the leftover balloons from the previous parties and the 12 allotted for her party.  They were tied up all over the gym and it looked quite festive.   It is, however, first and foremost, a gymnastics facility that trains high-level gymnasts.  We would never promise further decorations, nor would it be wise to do such, in that doing so would create a safety risk that could endanger gymnasts on the equipment.I'm really uncertain as to what sign she is suggesting that we promised we would put her child's name on.  We do not have any exterior signage, with the exception of one  commercial sign that lists all the companies within the complex.  That sign, for sure, we would never be allowed to decorate or change in any manner. As for the room in which we allow party guests to use for cake, etc.;  we never make any promises to use any other room as our facilities aren't such that we can allocate one room just for parties.  She was a member at this gym (until this day when we excluded her for bringing violence into our gym)  and knew prior to booking this event, where the parties were held.  She directed her child to go to  the “team room”, which she correctly stated as the room in-which the cake, etc. is held.  There are even pictures of this room on our website so I find it difficult if not impossible to believe that this room was a “shock” to her.The rest of the parties from this same weekend  were worked by the same NGTC hosts.  They were so successful that the word “awesome” and “we are going to let everybody know how amazing this is” was used for the staff and Party Host and facility. Some were members of our club and some were not.  Nobody else complained about our rule of  “No adults on the equipment.”    Our insurance carrier does not allow anyone over the age of 18 to utilize our gymnastics apparatus or any of it's equipment.  This has always been the case, and our marketing even states 18-months to 18-years.[redacted] did come to the front office to express her desire for more decorations.  We put up a couple (small) birthday banners and a little more décor, but that was the extent.  [redacted] was not understanding the fact that this is and always has been NGTC policy, and instead, offered her full-money back for her to leave right then.  She said, “She was not going to ruin her daughter’s birthday over decorations!”   We said fine then.   At that point she had decided to stay and have the party.  No more discussion about refunds  were made. The time was 5:16PM and this mom had complained so much that I texted a coworker that it was my interpretation of somebody trying to get a party for free.  See Attached.  Then all the sudden [redacted] and an Unknown (at the time) female, whose name is [redacted], came running into the office area,  within which myself and the “male owner” as she stated were seated working, yelling and screaming  the daughter saying,  “Can I really not go on the equipment,?” and [redacted] yelling, “You sold me a bill of goods  and you are not providing what you said.  I would never have booked this party knowing my Oldest could not play.”We tried to calm them, telling them that we only service 18 months to 18 Years and that they were never told that an adult could participate on the equipment.   My office Manager said she told them that only children can be on the equipment and that parents can follow the children around, but may not utilize the equipment.  We told them they were allowed on the (spring) floor only and that they could play with the kids there.  She ([redacted]) then went out into the little gym, and moving very aggressively, punched the wall.   There was no damage, as she hit a padded wooden wall mat.   I informed her that there were cameras throughout and she really got mad and started yelling, then realizing she is on camera settled herself down.  At 5:24, once [redacted] moved into the main gym with her family, I texted a colleague to let her know that this person had now PUNCHED a wall.  I thought about calling the police, but really did not want to ruin the child’s birthday party.   SEE ATTACHEDWe have security video of Miss [redacted] playing and doing cartwheels and round-offs with her daughter.  They looked to be having the time of their lives.  Then, at approximately 5:40pm she came into the office and said, “We are leaving now! I need all my money back!”  I told her she had used half of the party.  I had to pay the Party Host and that a full refund was not an option.  Once again, the “male owner” was seated next to me in the office.  He, Eric S[redacted], never left the office area during their party time, up to and including [redacted]'s return to the office demanding money back. She said, “He (Eric S[redacted].) said I could have a full refund.”  I then informed her that he did in fact state that, however that was at the beginning of the party, not halfway through.  I then said, I would give her ½ back ($80) if they would leave right now; as I wanted them out of the building.  [redacted] demanded a refund in cash only.  We stated that we would write her a check as we do not keep cash on-hand.  She expressed anger that she could not get cash back as she had paid in cash.  We reiterated that she did pay in cash when she booked the party, but that we cannot offer cash back as, again, we do not keep cash on-hand.  I wrote out a check and kept it with me until which time [redacted] left the building.  Then Miss [redacted] proceeded to make a phone call to her mother telling  (while in tears)  her mother  she needed money put into her account right away as the gym was only giving her ½ back and she needed the funds immediately.  She was also mad that we do not keep cash on site and mad about a check.  As they  began to pack-up and gather belongings and kids, we did keep visual contact with [redacted] and the other party guests, including [redacted].  At this point [redacted]. did leave the office and proceed to stand outside the “team room” that [redacted] and her guests were occupying.  We did have our party host in the doorway of the “team room” to ensure the safety of the facility and all involved.  This is a long-standing policy and procedure we implement whenever a situation calls for it, to create a “triangle” of visual record so that no person(s) can claim we did or acted in a manner inconsistent with the truth.  Our security footage captures virtually all of the events and activities as laid out here.I gave her the check as she was leaving as incentive to get her out of the building.  It took her over 10 minutes to leave.  She says we were aggressive, but all the video footage proves otherwise.  The oldest daughter, [redacted], got into my Director of Gymnastics face, [redacted] calmly told her to back off and to settle down and that again, “You are not allowed on the equipment.”  This set her off and she put her arms up in a “gangster style” aggression and told Eric He was the worst [redacted] Business Owner ever.   There was lots of profanity used while yelling at Eric and myself from these people.  I informed Miss [redacted], that she or any of her family members would never be allowed back at NGTC due to her and/or her guest’s breech of NGTC rules and regulations.   This was also listed in the “notes” section” on the check I wrote her in the amount of $80.  Our written and published policy that she signed clearly states no refunds and we gave her 50% just to get her out of the building.  She and her children and the 1 other family (with 2 kids) did play and have a good time, as shown in the videos.      A police call was logged and a Gresham, Oregon officer did respond the following day to take our statement.  We showed the officer the No Trespass form that is completed and ready for an officer to serve to her should she return to NGTC at any time in the future.

Thank you for bringing this complaint to our attention.  This is a simple matter of a family not reading a contract then wanting to do things differently, then how NGTC does them.  This family asked a coach, during his coaching time on the floor and without access to his computer, if they...

owed money.  I am not sure how he could answer without a computer.  He recalls saying “I think you are paid up, but I would have to check.  This is not an uncommon answer when asked a question during coaching time as it’s vital the coach remains focused on his/her gymnasts for their safety, and a generic answer such as this usually works to make the person asking the question to move quietly aside. We provide all members full 24/7 access to their own Parent Portal.  From within this secure site, they can check balances, review charges and manage payment options for their account.  The family referenced throughout this email had such access, with full ability to easily change password if they lose it. As part of our XCEL Team, this (member) family signed, not only the NGTC Rules and Regulations that all members must sign, but also the NGTC XCEL Team Handbook.  This handbook details all charges and costs for the season as they relate to Team gymnastics.  Part of those fees are meet fees that we charge to enable the gymnast to participate in the upcoming season’s gymnastics meets.  Those payments are spread out for the benefit of all families, and anyone that needs them spread out further is welcome to submit a “Meet Payment Extension Form”, upon which they indicate what payment will work for them.  This family fell behind the scheduled meet fee payments as of the first payment due date.  I called them and spoke to the Mother. She asked if she could pay one meet at a time.  I told her we had a payment plan and would be happy to extend out the payments.  She told me 143 was the amount she wanted to pay.  I said OK and reminded her that formal paper work would have to be filled out in order to have and extended payment plan implemented.  She said OK, and said she would come in the next day to fill-out the form.  She never showed to fill-out the Meet Payment Extension.  The next time I heard from the family, the Mom said she was going to cancel her membership.  I told her of the fees involved $250.00 drop fee and all past due charges (to get her account current) and she got very upset.  We were willing to work with this family.   We even discounted their ending balance from  $935.50 to $590.00.  The Coach told them they had to pay quickly for the $590.00 deal or they would have to pay the full amount.  Tuition would continue to accrue until our official Drop Notice is completed and submitted to the office, along with payment to bring the account current.  If they did not do a drop notice the account would be considered delinquent and then be subject to collections, as per written company policy.  This family did have account balances from August that needed to be paid before the Drop Notice would be considered in effect.   We cannot discount the discount they have already received.     NGTC has already paid funds out for meet fees to host institutions.  Our meet fees totals are computed based upon spreading the total cost for the meet (i.e. coaches pay, travel, per diem, etc.) over the number of gymnasts attending that competition.  (That is the reason for the stated $250 drop fee as we’ve already computed costs for each family based upon having a set number of gymnasts.)  This family wanted to pay each meet 1 at a time, a policy that NGTC has never allowed.  However, we were willing to extend out their payments to a plan and monthly amount of their choosing.  All of this is clearly explained in the handbook and the separate meet fee price sheet that all parents are given, and sign, in July.  The special payment plan was also included in the handbook packet given in July. As far as “rips” from the bars, it is a very normal and an expected consequence of doing hours of gymnastics each week.  It is caused from the friction on the bars against the hands and is actually considered by most gymnasts “a right of passage”.  You treat them with tea bags, and sometimes hemorrhoid cream.  The acid found in tea bags allows rips to heal much quicker than doing nothing at all or using expensive medical treatments.  NGTC also sells a product called Rip Fix to help heal hands.  Any time a gymnast increases gym time, hands will hurt until the skin toughens up to withstand the friction., These rips are no different than that of a weight lifter.  The balloon she referenced is a widely accepted technique used by weight lifters, cross-fit and gymnasts to significantly reduce friction between the bar and the hand.  We have had a great deal of success for other athletes using this technique.  It really does keep the rip from getting worse and we have had gymnasts able to participate pain-free using the balloon.  Lastly, the threatening collection email she referenced was sent by an NGTC Staff member.  This is, once again, standard practice and more or less a form letter that is used for all families in a similar circumstance.  Nobody threatened anything or anybody.  It clearly states that accounts have to be current with a zero balance at time of drop.  I have attached a number of documents that should be helpful in your investigation of this matter.  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions. Thank you for your assistance with this matter.
