I have never been more disappointed in a mortgage company in my lifeMy mortgage agreement that my husband and I signed clearly states that we have until the 15th to pay or there will be a late fee added to our accountWe have never once been late on a payment, but if we do not pay by the 1st we received at least calls a day to our cell phones harassing us and threatening usWe have only been with this company for a year and a half and we are fed upThe customer service, if you can even call it that, is very rude and condescendingI would understand this if we were months late on our mortgage or if we were consistently late, but we are NOTThis week was the final straw when a man from Vanderbilt called and very rudely left a mean voicemail which he ended by saying we have some business that we obviously need to discussNo, we don'tI have nothing to discuss with you or your second rate companyYou have no right to talk to anyone like that and you have no right to know what is going on in my personal lifeWhen I AM late you can call me and ask if everything is okay and if we need assistance, but you can not call me, your customer, the person paying your salary, and tell me what I need to doWe will be refinancing ASAP with another company I am writing this because I have seen the hundreds of negative reviews and customers with similar complaints all over the internetThis company will NEVER change the way they do business unless if affects them in a negative wayPeople need to be aware of what they are in for if they choose to use this companyStay away from Vanderbilt or you to will regret it

I have been paying extra on my account since no matter what I pay the balance NEVER decreases and every year they raise my total payment dueI have been paying a month when only was dueThis year, my payments went up again, and I noticed that the payment that I was making is showing up as only 385.00! I have contacted the company

I highly recommend Vanderbilt Mortgage & Finance, Inc. Very friendly staff and worked hard at getting our loan. They are very thorough and were delighted when we were approved.

My mortgage was sold by Plaza Home Mortgage to Vanderbilt Mortgage and Finance in July 2015. To say the transition was handled poorly is an understatement. The rudeness and level of unprofessionalism should be a red flag to anyone. Since I purchased my home, I've made two payments a month, one full payment and one "to be applied to principal only" additional payment. When I was with Plaza, there was no issue what so ever. However, from the first time I tried to set up on-line payments [and I also was given two different loan numbers which made it very difficult to deal with the company] I noticed that they only accept additional "partial payments" NOT payments "towards principal only" only online. After being told by Vanderbilt on the phone: 1/ they're the same thing and 2/ they "promise" to adjust once received, I decided to mail in 2 checks a month - one for the payment and the second specifically stating that it's to be towards "interest only and NOT a partial payment". I make copies of these checks and also print out the cashed checks for my records. They've only put the first additional check towards "principal only" and the rest were put to partial payments. I've called to ask to have it fixed, and it's yet to be done. I was first told that I can't make the additional payment, and when I told them that according to the terms of my mortgage I can, I was told it would be "fixed" .... which to this date it hasn't. I researched their site to see that they have these "coupons" to print out and send as well for "Principal Only" HOWEVER on the coupon it states that even if you fill it out and send it in it is NOT a guarantee that your money will go towards "Principal Only". How is it possible that someone who is up to date on mortgage payments cannot make additional "principal only" payments? Vanderbilt apparently determines where they want to put your payment money. IS this legal?

Plaza Home Mortgage sold my mortgage to Vanderbilt Mortgage & Finance in July 2015. First of all, the transition between companies was not handled very well. They sent me the wrong loan number and I could not even reference my account to set up an online account with Vanderbilt. I tried multiple times to set up a recurring e-payment through the Vanderbilt website and it never worked. So I had to send in a paper request. Now in September, Vanderbilt increased my monthly payment by $159/month. Neither my insurance nor my tax liability has changed significantly. It's just a mis-management of escrow calculation on Vanderbilt's part. They said they sent me an escrow calculation statement through the mail, but I never received it. And escrow statements are not available through the online portal. I will get the situation sorted out, but just wanted to share with others that Vanderbilt seems to be quite disorganized when it comes to online service and the transfer of a mortgage account.

this company is very aggressive and their loan reps are very disrespectful, argumentative and belittling . any extra money paid along with your monthly payment as they tell is not there and is there at the same time . different loan reps will tell you different things.if you don't answer your phone and your not EVEN a month behind on payment they will send some one to your home . how is this legal business?

Vanderbilt Mortgage has held my home mortgage for 10 plus years and I have not had a problem until I was contacted by voice message on 03/13/15 they were attempting to collect a past due debt. My payments are set up thru a debit account from my bank. Vanderbilt removes the premium the 1st of each month. I put the money into the account thru automatic payroll deduction. They said in May 2014 another customer had written my account number on the check submitted for their payment and it was credited to my account and I still owed for the May 2014 payment. Ok, I supplied them with the account number and told them to remove the payment. Received another voice message attempting to collect an unpaid debt. Called them and was told the account was not allowing them to remove the funds. It's the same account they have been withdrawing from over 10 years. Gave them the information again. Was told a late fee was being added to my account for the months I was past due. For 10 years I have made sure the payments were in the account and I assumed they were doing their job by removing it as agreed. No, I didn't catch the missed payment in May 2014. But should I be paying late fees because of their error? They were just as responsible for putting another customers payment against my account. They have been rude each time I have attempted to contact them regarding this matter. I don't feel I should have to pay the late fees.

Horrible mortgage company. I have never had so many problems with an escrow account. The company refuses to keep a balance in the escrow account to cover any shortage, instead they issue refunds for excess and then increase monthly premiums when the account is short. I called twice to try to have them keep a balance in my account for excess, but they are not allowed so they say. I've had my monthly premiums increased twice, this last go round they paid my property taxes twice in one year, late the first time and my escrow account is now short $2k. Once again, I did not receive a notice of shortage with the chance to pay to avoid the increase, I simply received the escrow account review with notice of increase payment. Due to the shortage caused by them paying my taxes late and issuing the initial refund after increasing my monthly payment once already, I now have received notification of increase to my monthly payment AGAIN. This time for over $100/month! If you have options, do NOT go with this company!
