Review: I dropped off a load of laundry for the Nostrand Laundromat's wash and fold service. I left them a receipt with my phone number on it in case anything came up.

When I returned several hours later to pick up my clean laundry, I found that they had destroyed about 90% of what was given to them to clean, in more ways than one.

1. I had one set of sheets that were freshly removed from my bed, stain-free, just needed to be cleaned. They were returned with what seems to be black paint crusted on them, and instead of the green color which they were when I handed them over, now they are beige. Of course, color aside, they are completely useless since the paint has made the sheets crusty. They tried to argue that they were this way when I dropped them off, but there is no way that is true. The paint also got on a towel. And they had my phone number to call me if that was the case.

2. They burned and destroyed several other garments, including two braziers. It is clear from how they look now, that the dryer overheated, burned and melted the garments. They still refused to take responsibility for this undeniable error on their part.

3. Additionally, any garment that had any stretch to its fabric has somehow lost all elasticity. So the 12 pairs of underpants, one tank top, 10 pairs of socks, one pair of tights, one sports bra, one cardigan and a pair of lounge pants are all unwearable.

It is beyond me how they managed to destroy my relatively small bag of laundry (I believe it was 11 pounds) in so many different ways. When I discovered the damage and tried to negotiate with them, the two men who seemed to be in charge, but could barely speak any English, made it clear to me through their translator, another employee of Nostrand Laundromat, that they were not taking responsibility. Eventually, I managed to get a refund for the $7.80 service, and an additional $20. This does not begin to cover the amount of money I will have to spend to replace everything that was destroyed. I estimate that it was about $250 worth of clothing.Desired Settlement: I would like to be compensated $250 for the amount of money I will have to spend on replacing my sheets, clothes, and towels that Nostrand Laundromat destroyed. There is no doubt in my mind that every item was in perfect condition when it was handed to them, and if there was any doubt of that they could and should have called me. $250 will at least allow me to replace what they have permanently damaged.
