Nova Exteriors Reviews (%countItem)

Nova Exteriors had a contract with me to installed new siding on one side, and also to make repairs on roof, inside house, and garage. This was because of high wind, and heavy rain issues. Agreed amount was to be paid by Insurance (minus deductible).

Nova Exteriors took 3 months to complete the Siding work. In addition, they did do any other work. Because of their delay, I had another company repair the roof, and told Nova that I would not pay them for roofing.

Now they are demanding full payment even though they did not complete work as per the contract.

Please contact the company and tell them to complete the work, or face legal action.

Sincerely

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is not satisfactory to me. I will be happy to see the contractor in court as they did not complete the project as per the contract.

On Oct 5, 2018 I contracted with Nova Exteriors to install asphalt shingles on my side of a duplex located at *** Arlington, VA. The Nova representative indicated that my slate roofing would be removed and replaced with the asphalt shingles and that a flashing ridge would be installed to divide my asphalt from my neighbors slate. The Nova rep showed me examples of other duplexes on my street with a metal ridge separating differing materials on the units. This was presented as the way it would be done. No other alternative was mentioned.
The president of Nova Exteriors emailed me on Nov 5 that the work had been done. I was out of town at the time.
When I returned, no ridge had been installed. The asphalt had simply been mixed with the slate forming a staggered line between units, with slate and asphalt on both sides of the properties. The Nova president initially said that the job was complete and would not be fixed. The Nova rep said he would speak with Nova president and have it redone correctly. Nova president in a Nov 15 email said “the ridge flashing will be redone as requested”.
After being told that the repair was complete, no ridge had been installed. The “repair” consisted of adding a second layer of asphalt over the staggered asphalt/slate mix on the duplex dividing line. The added layer of asphalt extends over onto my neighbor’s slate roof, where it was cut off in a straight line with no ridge. This second layer creates an obvious wide bulge between the units.
I asked both Nova president and Nova rep to fix the roof- remove the second layer of asphalt shingle, install a ridge at the property line, and restore my neighbor’s slate roof to its original condition.
Nova refused to complete the work as agreed. On November 28 they demanded payment of the final installment and stated they will turn it over to a collection agency. I replied that I would be more than happy to pay when the work was completed to my satisfaction.

There has been a service ticket submitted and a service tech. has been assigned prior to the compliant. Once we have an update from the tech. we will update the homeowner. The items that the homeowner is referring to are not part of the original written contract and although we have no obligation to address the work , as a courtesy we will. Further, due to the condition of her neighbors adjacent attached slate roof , what the HO believe's they want or need may not be doable, necessary , or applicable in this case. If we can do what they want we will if can't I will send all the supporting pictures, video , photos and documentation. For the record the job is complete as per the contract and there is still an open balance.

Revdex.com:

I am agreeable with Nova Exteriors response provided it will

1. Install a metal ridge in the center of the roof between my unit and my neighbor's unit.

2. Remove the unsightly 'bulge' made from the installation of a second layer of shingles, especially where it is covering the neighbor's slate

3. Replace any slate that was removed from neighbor's roof during the

For the record I have paid $4919.00 to Nova Exteriors for this roofing project. As I indicated to the Nova president in an email, I am happy to pay the outstanding amount of $534.00 to Nova Exteriors upon completion of the roofing project to my satisfaction.

Best regards,

Outstanding company, from the sales representative to the scheduling and follow up. This company is outstanding.
I have done a couple of project from windows and doors to trim work and everything was amazing. I got what I paid for and more, I'm glad I didn't go with the lowest bid. My windows are amazing very energy efficient and by far better than Anderson and other brands. Provia doors are Amazing and priced better than T C

The door surround is nice, but the header was installed wrongly, with a backing piece that is too large and not shaped for the header - it just doesn't look right. After the job was done, I got a phone call that same day and expressed my dissatisfaction, but we had to call again to arrange for a consultation about the issue. We were then told someone would call to arrange a visit, after more than a week, they arranged a follow-up. The representative came by, but the owner emailed and said they would not fix it, but would give us a "courtesy" (i.e. partial) refund. Completely unacceptable!
I cannot recommend this business. In fact, I would recommend people avoid them.

Nova exteriors pitched a mid-level sliding glass door and boasted of features unique to the mid-level model. The pricing for the door was the highest of all competitors, however they noted years of experience and excellent customer service. The salesman explained a technician would make an appt to measure the inside and outside of my home for the door before taking a payment for 1/3 the cost. The technician came randomly w/o calling and only measured the outside of the home saying "it was no big deal to get the inside," rather than reschedule for a time when I was home. On installation day the door was installed but the workers explained they were unable to install the door lock due to tile in my home and to call the owner to figure it out. At this time I paid the remaining balance minus $250 pending resolution of the lock installation. The owner asked for photos, which I provided and I assume accidentally he responded internally ( which I was copied on)saying it was a mistake and they couldn't get the lock on the door. After a few back and forth emails he said he didn't expect his workers to anticipate my tile as a issue and never explained how standard kitchen tile was a problem or uncommon. Over the course of 30 day, he also suggested a $9.99 Charlie bar for the middle of the door which obstructs the view- the very thing his salesperson said was bad about my old model. I refused! I paid 3k for a door, the least he could do was provide a solution of similar quality to the mid-level unit's lock. His concession was to remove $35 for the toe lock (his cost for the part) and immediately demanded the balance of the door of $215. Since then, he has sent demands for payment and recently threatened to send me to collections, while offering me 48 hours to change my mind. He was also eager to tell me about the fees and interest collections would impose and limiting my warranty. Fair is fair and Nova exterior did not fulfill their contractual obligation prior to demanding full payment.
