Summary of complaint:

Repairs were made to vehicle without owners authorization. Vehicle held with no just cause .Lack of communication. ***
In early January of 2019,I had *** do an inspection on my vehicle due to a comprehensive motor vehicle accident. The claim clearly stated that they engine was seized and that I needed a new oil pan, but that only the oil pan would be covered. I called the receptionist at Nuline Auto & Sales and told her,"Go ahead with the repairs". I thought I heard her say," They can't do that" . And replied, " I'll just come in."About a week later I came in and asked the owner if he had fixed the vehicle. He said that he had but that the repairs were that of 3,000.
I replied with "you have got to be kidding me, that the adjustment sheet I had clearly stated that the repairs were to be done only on the oil pan. And the oil pan only.

I've tried asking for it back, but he has repeatedly told me he wants all the money or I get nothing at all.

I've called the RCMP. Talked to lawyers and nobody seems to be able to help.

Desired Outcome

The resolution I am seeking from the business is the "billing adjustment." To that of the original contract and my car back.

As stated the customer called and told our receptionist to go ahead with repairs to the vehicle. Previous to customer calling and instructing us to make repairs I had a conversation with customer informing her that the engine was in fact damaged beyond repair, and that insurance would only pay for oil pan she would be responsible for any repair over and above.I was very surprised when she called and told our receptionist to make the repair to the vehicle. After the work was completed customer was contacted the vehicle was ready for pick up.

n light of some information that has come to me, Ms. now has position of the vehicle in question. I will be turning it over to the RCMP as the vehicle was removed from compound with out our knowledge.

I asked for a diagnostic to be done on a truck and was quoted $49.95. The truck was taken in that day and when I called the next day to ask if it was done or if there was a report I was told that it had been repaired. I went to the shop and spoke with the business owner who said that the work had to be done in order to find out what was wrong with it. I stated that I only asked for the diagnostic and did not ask for any other work to be done. *** (the owner) stated that he told my husband who had dropped the vehicle off that they would take a look at it and get it running for him. I asked my husband about this and my husband said that he only spoke with the female receptionist who he gave the car keys, my name and number.

Desired Outcome

Billing Adjustment I do not want to be billed for unauthorized repairs.

I am responding to the complaint make on my business July 25 2018. Ms. called for quote on reading diagnostic codes and was quoted 49.00 dollars for the service, she was informed that she would have to bring the vehicle in for this service to be performed. I received another call from the *** household stating the vehicle would not run now, they said they would tow it to us, when the vehicle was towed in the fellow who brought the vehicle in told me to get it running, and that is exactly what we did nothing more.

My husband did tow the vehicle to the business. While there he only spoke to the female receptionist who he gave the keys to, stating that I had called and spoke to someone earlier. He gave her my name and phone number. He did not speak to anyone else nor was there anyone else while he was there dropping the vehicle off during the lunch hour. Therefore the business was not given permission to get the vehicle running only the service that the quote was provided for.

In response to consumer rebuttal:

The gentleman who towed the vehicle into the shop at lunch time could not have spoke to a female receptionist, as I am the only one who stays at the shop over the lunch hour. I spoke with two men who towed vehicle to us, unfortunately that is all the information I can add.
