Review: I hired NuBirth Contracting, [redacted], in January 2014 to gut and renovate my house. I have architects plans he signed off on and a contract between us stating construction would be completed by May [redacted] for $165,000. By July [redacted] the house was still not done and yet he has 95% of my money. In addition to not completing the house, he never measured the windows and installed them improperly so that I have to have them redone. His workers walked off the job on July [redacted] because he had not paid them, even though I had given him all of his payments up to date (and even more than that). [redacted] told me he wanted $7000 more. I gave him the check. The following week I had another contractor come in to assess how much it would cost to get someone else to finish the job and he told me the work on the basement was not structurally sound. I brought another contractor in who confirmed that the work that was being done was faulty. I fired [redacted] on July [redacted]. I am now trying to find another contractor to finish the house and fix the errors he made including installing a floor on a slope, and improperly installing windows.Desired Settlement: Since [redacted] finished 2/3 of the work, and yet took 95% of the money ($160,000), I request that he refund $55,000. In the event that my costs to complete the project and fix the work he improperly performed is more than $55,000 I would like him to compensate me for that as well. Also, I would like his license revoked. He is employing unskilled and undocumented workers on his jobs. If he goes on like this, he will be taking advantage of many more families and homeowners. He is a crook.
