Initial Business Response /* (1000, 15, 2016/03/23) */
To Revdex.com,
Thank you very much for an opportunity explaining the facts pertaining to the complaint of *** ***
She was seen in our office on 11/17/for tooth extraction and bone graft on tooth#
Implant was placed in the area of
tooth #on 4/29/On 12/5/Impression for the crown on implant# was taken and patient was given appointment on 12/19/for cementationHowever, patient was no show for few months and showed up for crown cementation after months on 2/8/During the visit it was obvious that gums were overgrown and so we have to perform additional procedures which was at no charge to patientX-rays were taken before and after crown cementation as a standard of care and patient and her husband were extremely happy with the result
It is very unusual for cemented crown to come out within two weeksMany things plays part for crown come out including rebouce from gum tissue to non-compliance from patient to delayed setting of cement. There is no known cause for it so there no simple answer for that
However, we saw *** on 2/22/She failed to notify our front staff that she was pregnant
X-rays are taken when it is absolutely necessary and when it is in the best interest of patient
Being pregnant, is not a contra-indication of taking xrayMoreover, we take digital xrays which require extremely low radiation than conventional dental xrayWe routinely perform various dental procedure including x-rays with proper precautions on pregnant womenOn the contrary, OBGYN recommend dental xays, cleaning specially during pregnancy as poor gum health can be associated with lower birth weight of the baby and so usually OBGYN recommends and give pregnant woman medical release(permission)for the same
Even though we insist on medical release from health care provider specially if person is also in other physician's care(not just pregnancy), sometimes we go out of our way to accommodate the patient and see patient without medical releaseThis was one of the case
She was very well aware that procedure we were performing required xrays as she has gone through the same procedure just few days ago.- she had mentioned in her complain.(they took 10/xray-which is not trtook four xray)
xray is a very important toolxray taken after cementation of crown provide extremely vital information which can affect long term outcome of treatment and it is a standard of care in CaliforniaDentist can easily pickup from xray if cap is seating properly or not or any excessive cement is present or not
Excessive cement present around implant is a number one cause implant failureThis can be easily seen in xray and if it is evident in xray than it can be easily immediately cleaned before it sets completely and can easily avoid future complication including failure of implant and or crown
It was patient's decision not to take x-ray after the crown cementation completion and not to follow through dentist recommendation to take xray even after his insistence of getting it done for her own best interestHer concern of radiation to her baby with one intra oral digital xray with double shield was completely overblown
She decided to go against dentist's advise and left the officeShe has never paid $for this treatmentHer claim is completely Patient had made her decision and I had to respect it but can not provide any warranty or guarantee or assurance on future complications due to her non compliance
If you have any question please contact Dr.*** *** @ XXX XXX XXXX

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 17, 2016/03/23) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I am not happy with this answerThe doctor told me I could change the date of my appointmentThey told me the longer I waited it would be better for the regrowth of my boneI was never told I needed additional procedures and didn't ask to have them done by no chargeI was never told I did wrong on changing my appointment date I said I have spent over $on THIS tooth over all , not on this unique procedureSo this is true, they should have my files for the past yearsAlso, I was taken to the xray room times , each time they took around 3- xrays because they couldn't get it rightLast I did inform the nurse right away I was pregnantTheir response is only telling me that many of my statements are not trueThis makes me more unhappy than beforeThe good thing is my tooth has not fallen of again, but I still would like to have it seen by another dentist as soon as I give birthThe response is saying that me and my husband were extremely happy with the resultThis is correctI was, and made future appointment to have more jobs done on what they recommendedThat is why I don't understand how they could not take care of a good customer and delay the job for monthsAfter all it was their fault the job needed warrantyI am not asking for muchI just want them to be fairMore than the cost of the revision, I am more offended on how I was treated with no respectSo what I am asking again is for them to pay a revision with another dentist and a apology of how bad I was treated
