I had a salesman cone to give a demonstration for a water softener. He came in and showed various tests to highlight the differences between soft and hard water. They then went into the money savings of the equipment. Advising that traditional water softeners use 10 bags of salt a month, this was misinformation as I have asked around and they typically use about 1-2 bags of salt a month in Herriman. Water has been tested showing their water is soft with that amount. Due to the high pressure sales tactics and forced 5 star reviews we purchased I called 2 hours later to cancel and they told me the system had been built and filter had started soaking. I called the next day asking to cancel again and that I would pay for the water filter they then told me the tank was now soaking. I offered to pay for the unusable filter they declined in their contract is says that I have until installation to cancel the equipment. I’m not sure why they are not letting me since I am within the time and also I was advised that we were signing a receipt and not a contract cancellation terms were never reviewed with us. This company has been dishonest with us about the product and their service. They are also very difficult to cancel with even when it’s well within the time frame.
We believe this is a case of misunderstanding rather than mis information. When a technician is in home they explain the difference between wet and dry brines as well as a more advanced systems that we offer which uses less salt. We offer both types of systems and explain averages for salt use so customers can make an educated decision for their needs. It was explained that on average for a family of 4 it would be 2-3 bags of salt every 2-3 weeks. With a dry brine and UHE resin the average would reduce to 2-3 bags every 2-3 months for a family of 4. We never force reviews. We do ask at the end of a in home presentation to please leave a review. In return for doing their review we will include 5 bags of salt for their system. We do not require that it be 5 stars. We do have a no cancellation policy included in the agreement the customer signs explaining that the systems built on demand have a no cancellation policy. On Feb 17 we talked with the customer and was able to come to a resolution. They have received an additional discount and indicated that this was to their satisfaction.
