NYC piano movers Reviews (1)

Review: The company moved my piano on August [redacted], 2013. There were multiple issues beforehand: 1. The original date specified for the move was August [redacted]. On the day before (July [redacted]), the company contacted us and said that they would prefer to perform the move on August [redacted] instead, since the movers were tired, and suggested a discount. This was a much less convenient time for us, so we did *not* accept this offer. However, the movers simply did not show up and the company representative did not answer his phone on August [redacted], so we were left with no choice but to wait for the [redacted]. 2. On August [redacted], the movers stated that they would arrive at 3:00pm, and they actually arrived at 4:30pm. In addition, we asked about what would happen in the event of damage to the apartment we were moving to, specifically the stairwell, and received the following email response from a company representative ([redacted]): The move is fully covered and if any damage happens to the piano or the stairwell during the move, NYC Piano Movers are responsible for fixing it! During the move itself, significant damage was caused to the building we were moving into; the floor of the stairwell was damaged in multiple places, the entrance door was damaged, and the walls of the stairwell were gashed in two places. We did not notice this immediately upon completing the move, but only several hours later (since the damage was in the stairwell, which we did not inspect carefully until after the movers had left). During the move, one of the movers also mentioned that he is not a piano mover, but rather a piano tuner, and that he was unused to the work. The same day of the move (August [redacted]), we contacted the company and pointed out the issues, including the fact that the repair was urgent, as the entrance door, for example, did not close. It took a week until a representative of the company agreed to visit and inspect the damage, and he claimed that the damage was not caused by the movers, but rather by someone else, such as other movers. It is worth noting that the door was functional and the floors undamaged until these movers arrived (according to the landlord), and no other movers were present after or during this time span. (There was a delivery of a single, hand-carried-by-a-single-person, wrapped table which was clearly incapable of causing any of the damage specified.) The company is refusing to cover any of the costs of the repair or accept responsibility for it, despite their clear written commitment to do so.Desired Settlement: The company should repair the damage caused, to wit: the damage to the front door, the damage to the stairwell floor, the damage to the stairwell walls, and any other damage they may have caused during their move.
