My car was towed here after breaking down on the bridge.
After waiting 3 hours, which I could barely stand, my car was taken there and they promised to follow up the next day. I called them and was told that they needed a couple of hours to finish the inspection. A couple of hours later I was told that the timing belt snapped, it would cost several hundred dollars and be ready for pick up in the morning. I thanked them for their work and said I'd be there tomorrow. I received a call the next morning saying there was more wrong with the car. The water pump had seized and was the cause of the timing belt snapping. Something common in Volvo's considering how the engine is built. One can easily affect the other. He said it would be several more hundred dollars and be another day wait. I said fine. Then I received another call later that day saying there was so much more wrong. And the costs went from $300 to an additional $900 to a wooping $2400 (This was a discount from $2800). I asked if I could think about it. They said "No problem." Then I called another mechanic, talked to family members about whether or not our budget could handle the new prices. And returned the call on Tuesday morning to say ok. They said it will take one week. I said ok. A week later. I called for pick up time and the IAN acted as if he never said ONE WEEK. He actually said "This isn't like legos. It takes time. We need another week." That is when I started the complaint process with Triple A New York. Another week passed before the "manager" returned from vacation -- he called to apologize. Said this never happened before and asked for, you guessed it "another week". At this point, the investigators from Triple A apologized profusely said they would log all my complaints and continue to call and check for me. With Triple A's assistance, I learned parts had broken, and heard them complain about outsourcing parts to be fixed and that's who really was to blame. Ian tried to belittle e on the phone countless times and then had the audacity to complain that "Triple A was stressing him out" and they could only go so fast. In the end, three weeks and a couple of days later, I was told to come pick up the car. I did so. I asked if they would discount my price considering I had to get a rental car for a week of work. They refused. I signed the copy of the receipt stating that I felt like I was being charged unjustly for poor service. The manager tried to raise his voice about the note. Said "Don't write on my receipt and take pictures. This is MINE!" I said, "I need to keep a record of your bad business practices." He asked me to sign another copy of a receipt I did and left. Two weeks later, my battery died. When the campus authorities assisted me, they popped the hood to access the battery and a sensor flew out! Just clean out from beneath the hood. When I went to get the battery checked, the mechanic said the sensor wasn't placed back correctly and it served as a temperature for the car. He also noticed that my battery wasn't the right size for the vehicle which was why it had to get a jump. It is clear these mechanics are incompetent and vindictive. Not only did they overcharge me to fix my car, took 3 weeks to do so, then upon have complaints charged against them -- put my engine back together haphazardly. I've made complaints and urge you to protect yourself from people like this!

I had a very terrible experience with NYC Tire and Auto Care. Like many others, I was towed here under the suggestion o[redacted]. They told me I had a faulty fuel pump and crankshaft position sensor.
When I got the car back I noticed a faint gasoline smell, which worsened over the next several days until it smelled of pure gasoline. When I took the car to an actual dealership, it was found that they cut the fuel line in the process, and fuel had been collecting in the frame of the car underneath the rear seat. When the dealership took out the back seats they found a pool of gasoline. In addition, they broke the crankshaft position sensor while installing it. This resulted in additional $900 of damages for the second repair.
Overall, this was a terrible experience. When I reached out to them to make this right, they refused. I was appalled they would not try to fix this situation when it could have resulted in severe bodily injury to myself and others.

Review: After my recent experience with NYC Tire & Towing I have come to the conclusion that these technicians are unskilled, dishonest scammers. A simple battery jump with an AAA membership is supposed to be free but cost me $300 and left me without a car for four days.

Sunday my car didn’t start so I call AAA roadside assistance for a battery jump. The man that arrived tried to jump my car and when it didn’t start he suggested that I get it towed to his garage. He said they wouldn’t be able to tow my car back to PA that day(did I mention their service is 24/7 towing – first red flag).

We arrived at the garage around 2pm, by 3pm I was told my car would not be fixed and to go home. I explained that I could not just go home because I live in PA. I was then told to walk to Enterprise, which was closed. Finally I walked to Port Authority and took a bus to PA and a friend picked me up the drove me the rest of the way home (not convenient).

I called Monday and Tuesday and was told to stop calling. Instead I was told that the technicians didn’t know what was wrong and would need to run a $175 diagnostic test. Wednesday afternoon (3 days later) I was told that I needed a new computer. Not agreeing with their review of my vehicle I got a rental car and drove back into the city to have it towed.

Thursday around 7pm I arrived at the garage and was disappointed to see a sick cat crawl out of my car. When I looked inside I noticed there were black oil cat prints all over my back seat. At 11:30pm my car was loaded on the flatbed and I got home at 1:30am.

Ironically my [redacted] was able to fix my car within 5 minutes. It turned out that the technician that tried to jump my car did not connect the cables correctly and blew a fuse, NOT the computer. A SKILLED technician would not have connected the battery incorrectly and a SKILLED mechanics would have noticed the fuse without a diagnostic test.

After learning about this easy fix I called the garage to tell the owner about the mistakes his technicians had made. I called at 4:30pm and was told to call back in a half hour – after 5pm, the owner would be free then. So I called again at 5:05pm and was told the owner left at 5pm. Enraged with the run around I left all of my contact information and am still waiting for a return phone call.Desired Settlement: Refund of the Diagnostic test, 185.09. IF, the technicians and mechanics WERE competent I could’ve saved myself four days without a car and $185.09. The repair my car needed was not supposed to cost anything and was covered under AAA. However NYC Tire & Towing disabled my car in order to get my business.

Review: I CONTACTED THE JAGUAR DEALER OF MANHATTAN FOR A TOW TRUCK TO HAVE MY CAR SERVICED. THEY SUB-CONTRACT TO A COMPANY CALLED NYC TIRE & AUTO CARE [redacted] NYC. I PAID FOR THE SERVICE WITH A CREDIT CARD OVER THE PHONE AND WAS ADVISED THAT I WAS NOT REQUIRED TO PAY ANYTHING ELSE.

WHEN THE TOW TRUCK CAME HIS CABLE TO PULL THE CAR ON THE FLATBED WAS BROKEN, I HELPED HIM FIX IT.

MY PROBLEM WAS HE KEPT ASKING ME FOR MONEY ALL THOUGH I ALREADY PAID FOR THE TOW SERVICE. HE ASKED ME THIS NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE HE TOWED MY CAR TO THE DEALER. HE ASKED ME AGAIN WHEN WE ARRIVED AT THE DEALER. WHEN TOLD HIM NO BECAUSE I HELPED HIM FIX HIS TRUCK AND AS A CUSTOMER I WASN'T SUPPOSED HE STATED HE COULD LEFT AND I WOULD'VE HAD TO WAIT FOR ANOTHER TOW TRUCK.

INSTEAD OF BACKING MY CAR INTO THE DEALER HE PUT IT DOWN ON THE STREET AND I HA TO PUSH IT INTO THE DEALER.Desired Settlement: I WOULD LIKE A REFUND.

Review: In short, I had two new [redacted] tires put on the front end of my car at 9:30am on October [redacted]. By 9:00pm (and maybe 70 miles) I was broken down on the side of the highway due to the two new tires going completely flat as I slowed down for traffic. The problems started as I was driving out of the city that night. I couldn't get over 60mph due to the severe shaking of the steering wheel and when I slowed down for the traffic I lost all steering control. I immediately pulled over and discovered that both tires had gone completely flat. I call NYC Tire and Auto Care to have my car towed back to NYC, but I was told that I was too far. I was forced to have it towed to a local tire shop and have two more tires put on the car so I could get back to work on Monday morning. This tire shop saw no damage to the tires (other then rim scraping after they went flat) and did notice that there was an overabundance of tire bead sealant on the tires which indicated that they had trouble getting a proper seal. I brought the tires back on Monday morning expecting a full refund and I have gotten nothing even close to that. I have been railroaded, lied to, ignored and told I was lying. The GM has not upheld one promise to call me back, investigate on my behalf and or been any help. He has been rude, indignant and caustic. At this point, I have only been told that I will get my money back on one tire due to the warranty and that I cannot get any of my other money back (which includes the mounting, balancing and tire costs...over $220) because they do not know why the other tire went flat. They have failed to address the balance issue, the extra tire bead sealant and have not offered any type of restitution for endangering and stranding two of their customers on the side of the highway. Probably the most frustrating customer service and car repair fiasco I have ever endured!Desired Settlement: At minimum, a full refund of the NYC Tire and Auto Care purchase on 10/**, but I am now seeking a full refund for the tires and worked performed at NYC Tire and Auto Care as well the cost of the tow and the other set of tires I had to buy as compensation for my time, frustration and the endangerment of my safety.

Review: The company has failed over the course of several months to reverse an aggregate $973.64 of overcharges to my Visa account.

I do not dispute the work that was performed on my car or my obligation to pay the related invoice -- only the duplicate charges to my account that the company processed in January.

The company has repeatedly acknowledged the error, but has so far taken no action to correct it.Desired Settlement: Credit my Visa account $973.64.
