NYS National Gas Heating Reviews (4)

Just received a second call (###-###-####) from this company. (The first time they called with a different name; same address). The caller claimed there is a law requiring inspection of the heating system for CO2. I explained I never heard of this. She told me that someone will come to my home and inspect my boiler at no cost. If there is a problem it will be corrected. She insisted it was required. I looked up the business and the "law" while on the phone and found this Revdex.com review. I did not find the law. I told her what I found and she told me it was okay and that she would remove my name at my request. I writing this to warn others do not allow unknown people into your home.

Review: This company is horrible. They take advantage of people who want to maintain there home, especially women. The call to say they are part of [redacted] and need to check the gas line. When the service guy came. He was high and smelled like weed. In less than 1 minute of looking in the boiler room, he turns around saying that it will be a $250 charge to replace the cover on the roof with little explanation of why. Before agreeing to the service I called [redacted] directly to find out a better explanation of the servic and fees, and was explained that this company is fraudulent and pretend they are part of [redacted] BUT THEY ARE NOT. [redacted] didn't have any appointments schedule for my address. The guy immediately picked up his bag and walked out the door after overhearing the conversation. I called the office and the [redacted] acted as if she had no idea of what I was talking about and said she just answers phone. So when I asked for a [redacted] he is never around and still hasn't returned my messages.Desired Settlement: Please stop contacting people as if your the official Nationa Grid. You are scamming people and that is not nice. May God Bless you and all who works for such a company.Stop Contacting Me

Review: My elderly Mother was contacted at Tuesday 01/**/14 at PM by NYS National Gas Heating Co Inc. The lady calling and said they were the service div of National Grid and she needed to make an appointment with them to service her gas boiler and make sure it was up to code. If she didn't get this done, National Grid would be unable to continue giving them gas service. Afraid that she would be without heat she agreed to let them come and service her boiler. Two men came to her home and showed her a badge as their credentials. Still unsure Feeling she had no choice if she wanted to make sure she continued to have gas heat, she allowed them in. To reassure her they gave her a telephone number to call, which they said was to someone at National Grid. A lady working with them answered the phone and reassured my parents these men were sent by National Grid. Reassured my parents allow the men to inspect the boiler. They take off the metal piping from the boiler to the chimney and hot water heater and tell her it will cost her $1400 to bring her heating system up to code. They would not accept a check. They told her she must pay cash, but they would give her a Capital Improvement Certificate. They put a few feet of metal piping back and gave her a receipt and a bogus Capital Improvement certificate which don't have amounts received on them. They also told her she now enrolled in the National grid residential service plan and gave her a form supposedly indicating what the plan will give her. The receipt they gave her indicates that now her home is up to code for life. The address they put on their paperwork is the address to the post office and it is not a POB. This was deceptive. The telephone numbers they show on their paperwork is a cellphone The next day my parents tell me about this and I immediately became concerned that they were scammed out of $1400. We call National Grid and National Grid confirmed they did not send anyone to their home. We called the telephone number on NYS National Gas Heating Co. receipt (###-###-####) and the lady answering now acts as if she doesn't understand what we are talking about. I then call their 24 hour service # ###-###-#### and get a man named [redacted], my mother said this is the guy that came to her house, he doesn't know what we are talking about and says he never represented himself as National Grid.Desired Settlement: The public needs to be made aware of this company and my elderly parents need their money back.
