O Spa Reviews (2)

Review: I went to O Spa on 7/*/14 and received a gel manicure and pedicure. As advertised, the total price was $55. For payment, I used a $50 gift card and gave the employee a 20 dollar bill to cover the remaining $5. She stated, "Ok, all set", as if I wasn't getting back any change. When I asked for my change, she gave me $10 and said there was a a $5 tax. $5 flat rate tax, I asked (which make no sense), to which she replied, "Yes". I researched online about O Spa in Garden City and discovered on [redacted], that other customers were also charged a $5 mystery tax. Additionally, they provide terrible service, cut 2 of my fingers and also my toe, causing substantial pain and bleeding. To top it off, the employee tried to blame me, stating that I had that cut before I came in.Desired Settlement: I believe that I should be refunded in full for the unfair practices and extremely poor services.

Review: I went to O Spa to have eyelash extensions done. I inquired about experience of the technician and I was assured that she did many and worked at the spa for a long time. I asked for pictures of work done to previous customers and was told they need authorization from a customer to show a picture and they don't have any. The technician was obviously not certified or trained to do eyelash extensions. She filled the lashes up with excessive amounts of glue and instead of glueing one extension to one of my own lashes, she glued many of the lashes together. The lashes were all clumped together and very stiff from all the glue that was used. My eyes were watering all night from the fumes of the glue and I woke up with swollen and red eyes with puss in them. I called them as soon as they opened and told them that I was coming in immediately to have them removed. Removal was torture. They used this chemical that was burning my eyes and the skin around my eyes. They were pulling the extensions off along with my eyelashes. My own natural lashes were long and thick and now they left me with no lashes. They pulled them out while trying to remove the extension and all the glue. I did not get what I paid for.Desired Settlement: They offered to have another technician do it again but with the torture that I endured there was no way I was going to take the risk of trying again. Besides they left me with no lashes! I requested my money back and I was told that they were not going to refund me. I was told my only choice was for them to do it again. While I was waiting for the spa to open in the morning so I can call them to tell them I was coming in to have them removed, I researched the place online and read another review from someone that wrote that the same thing was done to them so there was no way I was going to let them try again! It is a miracle that they didn't blind me with the chemical they used to remove the glue. I lost my lashes and have burns around my eyes but that will pass. Being blinded or having permanent damage done to my eyes would have not passed!. I didn't get be service that I paid for so I want my credit card to be credited. They are definitely not trained nor are they qualified to do lash extensions. They should not be allowed to perform this service on anyone. If allowed to continue, they will one day cause permanent damage to someone. The technician kept apologizing for what she did to me but an apology was not enough!

Deari [redacted]

I am [redacted] and I am the manager at O Spa. Our technicians are all well-trained and licensed to perform eyelash extensions. We do eyelash extensions day in and day out. We have done several thousand eyelash extensions procedures and we have many repeated customers. Usually, we have more than one technicians on duty to perform this service and sometimes I have to use 4 technicians to meet all the eyelash extension appointments. That tells you how busy we are to satisfy all the eyelash extension customers. When we removed the extensions per the customer request, we used high quality removal solution specifically design for extension removal. As a result, customer's natural lash stay very much intact after the removal. I know it because I saw it when the customer asked to speak to me. I recognized the customer did not like the work have done by one of my technician. I have offered her to re-do it with another technicain (all our technicains are well-trained and licensed) with no addition charge. I am in this beauty industry for so long and I understand how customer like one beautician better than the other. They are professionals like hair dressers, doctors, accountants and so on. These are all well-trained and licensed professionals and yet, they are not 100% equal. That's why some customers ask for specific person when they book their appointments. I, myself, always go to the same person to cut my hair even though the hair salon I go to has 5 hair specialists. The free re-do offer is still valid and just ask the customer to contact us and book the appointment.

Yours Truly,

Consumer
