ABSOLUTE WORST INVESTMENT EVER
Purchased a Mercedes Benz GLK 350 in June 2021. I bought it with 147K miles on it but I definitely didn’t anticipate what I was running into. Within 30 days of purchase, the brakes & hoses went out. I had to get the vehicle towed because the vehicle let me down an hour away from home. Sixty days later the starter went out. That was a $700 repair. Thirty days later the car wouldn’t cut on again. I’m thinking it was replaced with a bad starter. NO! The mechanic said the vehicle was “jack legged.” There was a separate electric issue that kept the car from cutting on. Another $400 issue. Then finally, five months after purchasing the vehicle, the TRANSMISSION goes out 🤦🏾‍♂️. Undoubtedly, the worst investment I ever made.

I feel the dealer knowingly sold me a illegitimate car.Hello my name is [redacted] I purchased a used car about four months ago from the dealership listed above in September 2015. About thirty days after purchasing the vehicle ran into mechanical issues. I took it to my mechanic and he told me basically it was a $2200.00 fix. I called the credit union being that they were the ones who sent the check to the dealer to purchase the vehicle on my behalf. I made the state employees credit union aware of the situation and the mechanical issues. They told me to contact the dealer. I called dealer and told them what was going on and I immediately received a negative response from the owner/manager of the dealership. He blamed me for the mechanical issues and just didn't care and gave me a nasty attitude. My grandmother even contacted them to vouch on my behalf and she received the same response. The most they were wiling to do is let their mechanic look at the car. I end up having to allow my mechanic fix it and refinance on my loan with the credit union to even get the car fix.At first I thought I just had to deal with it but ever since then I have had a mechanical issue each month and have almost spent $2500.00 total so far on the vehicle and financing it through my bank and making payments of $191.00 a month. Now the car is broke down again as of January 22,2016 and I am having to catch the public transportation with my 1 year old son in the cold. This is not the fist complaint you all have received about this business.Desired SettlementI want the bank to first off apologize for selling me a car that was not in a good condition. I want them to either buy the car back or give me my money back for my repairs to the vehicle. If I don't get the results I feel I should get I will pursue a law suit against them and contact the DMV Investigator, the news, the attorney general office. I understand that the car now was sold as is however they gave me their word that the car was in great condition THEY sold the car for almost the amount of the book value which I believe to be illegal. They need to right their wrongs and start having warranties for their cars.If they can't back their cars up then they don't need to be selling them period.Business Response Ms. [redacted] contacted us approximately 45 days after purchasing a 2005 Nissan Murano Last year. The customer stated that there was what sounded like a clicking coming from the motor. I asked how long this had been going on and she stated it had been doing it for a couple days. I advised the customer that it needed to be looked at right away to prevent any further damage from being done. She refused to bring the vehicle in stating that she needed the vehicle to get to work. I then re emphasized the importance of having it looked at, re explained that it could very well be an easy fix that we could take care of. But if she continued to drive the vehicle without us taking a look at it there would be a very real possibility of it turning into a major problem. She still refused to bring the car in, which is when I told her that if she did further damage by neglecting the problem which at this point no one had diagnosed then we would not be able to help out. Her grandma did call within a couple hours of this conversation I explained the exact same thing to her. Again emphasizing the importance of getting the vehicle diagnosed by our mechanic so we can come to a solution. And that was the last we heard. We still dont know what was wrong with the car. If it was major or minor. Or if it started out minor then was driven a ton and turned into a major problem. We obviously cant go writing checks for repair bills if we are not even allowed the opportunity to know what the issue actually is. I dont know anyone or any business that would spend a substantial amount of money without verifying a problem. Especially since we are professionals in the industry and we buy, recondition, repair, and sell almost 500 cars a year. Which means that we have the experience in most makes and models to know the most cost effective way of making repairs. Which is why I emphasized so strongly to Ms. [redacted] that she needs to bring the car in for us to have a look. In her statement she also mentioned that she knows she bought the car AS-IS. This is true the vehicle was purchased with no warranty. We do offer warranties on most every vehicle we sell. We offer them at no mark up to the customer. She did not purchase one. Which to me doesnt mean that we are not willing to help her out. But does mean that we are not required by law to in any capacity at all. I will still extend my original offer for us to look at the car and find a reasonable and affordable way for this to be resolved. I do not like hearing stories like Ms. [redacted]'s and want all of our customers to be happy with their purchases. Unfortunately in this business sometimes there are unforeseen issues that cannot be predicted a month in advance. A car is a man made machine and unfortunately sometimes they have components fail unexpectedly. In conclusion if Ms [redacted] brings the car to us to have our mechanic look at it so we can for the first time know what the actual issue is we will gladly help her to get it repaired. Consumer Response First off I want to say I do not agree with the above company false accusations they do not offer any warranties on their vehicles and they didn't not offer me a warranty on my vehicle during time of purchase because if they would have I would have purchase it. Yes I did notify them that the noise started as a light noise but honestly it wasn't a noise indicating mechanical issues until two days later it was a loud knocking noise and I immediately took it to my mechanic and he told me the diagnosis and I notified the mechanic and lol he kept saying is bring the car by and let his mechanic look at it. Why would you tell me to keep driving the car after you are already trying to blame for the mechanical issues. I couldn't drive it so I left it with my mechanic and he fixed and I had to borrow money from the credit union. My mechanic made me aware that they had to know the issue before selling the car.Final Business Response Our offer still stands to look at the car and see if we can come to a reasonable conclusion for it to be repaired in an affordable manner. Again we do offer warranties through [redacted] Company at no addition markup to our customers. We do not make a profit on these. We have been offering this since day 1. Ms [redacted]'s statement re affirms my original advise to stop driving the car and let us look at it back when it was a light noise so it wouldn't become a bigger problem. Judging by her statement that is exactly what happened. I still have not seen this car come to our shop. We still do not know what the issue is or ever was with the car. And Ms [redacted]'s statement about our mechanic knowing of an issue before selling her this car is completely false. I have employed several talented mechanics but never one that could predict the future 45 days out. That's Just not realistic. In conclusion we are sorry you had an issue Ms [redacted]. We have now offered several times to look at the car for you. But this is a 2 way street we cannot help you without your cooperation. Emails to the Revdex.com, the [redacted] and whoever else you feel you need to contact will not fix your car. We can and have been willing to help out since the first day you contacted us. But our mechanics can not fix or diagnose a car through emails, through the phone, through mail etc. Its now been 6 months and we still have not seen the car.

Oak City Motors sold us a car that, 15 days later, is 100% dead. We have to sink thousands more into it to get it fixed! HORRIBLE car dealerI can honestly say I REALLY wanted my experience with this dealership to be a good one. And it was. [redacted] was nothing less than nice and helpful. On the 3rd of December (yes...14 days ago) I found, what I thought was going to be, a great first car for my son. After dealing with 'private' sellers that turned out to be car dealers wanting to meet me off their lot, I found Oak City Motors. After days and DAYS of driving all over the RTP area, I bought a car (cash buyer) from [redacted]. The very next day, there was an overwhelming smell of gas inside the car. I took it back and [redacted] had his mechanic fix the cracked top of the gas tank. Great! No one wants their kid driving a car with leaky gas problems. Problem fixed. And then Sunday night happened. My son was driving, at night, and his car just died in the middle of the road. He was almost struck from behind numerous times while trying to push it to the side of the road. In 55+ mile an hour traffic. I'm still having nightmares about that. SO...we called [redacted]. He said to disconnect the wires from the new battery we purchased to see if that would help. Made zero sense to me. But I did it. No luck. Car is still dead. We have repeatedly called [redacted] and left messages with no return calls. I get it. It's a chance you take when buying a used car. But I honestly thought [redacted] and Oak City Motors would be more than just another...well....used car salesman. So, as of this morning, we are having the car towed to a local mechanic and getting it looked at and fixed. Keep looking before buying here. WHAT a disaster of an experience. As of today, 19 Dec 2014, we have been informed that the car's computers main frame is totally burned out and it will cost thousands to repair! Which, naturally, we don't have. My son saved half of the $5,000 we paid for this piece of junk for TWO YEARS. For nothing....except a harsh reality check into the huge world of scammers! Desired SettlementI want to return the car--we bought it on 3 Dec 2014--and we'll take our business elsewhere. [redacted] would be getting back the car WITH a brand new battery, brand new [redacted] floor mats and it's been professionally detailed. All around win for him. Business Response Vehicle was sold AS-IS on Dec 3rd. Within a couple days we were notified of a fuel smell inside the cabin of the vehicle. We agreed to diagnose the problem on Friday Dec 5 and gave the customer a vehicle to drive while the problem was being looked into. Fuel smell could not be duplicated in our shop so we used a smoke tester to fill the tank and evaporative emissions system with smoke and found a pin hole leak in the O-ring around the fuel pump. The part had to be special ordered from [redacted] so we ordered the O-ring and Fuel pump housing cap and scheduled and appointment for her to come back in the following Monday. On Monday Dec 8 the customer was given another loaner car and the repair was made out of Good Faith and she was not charged a dime. Total cost of the repair to the dealership was approximately $250. On Dec 16 a Voicemail was left before business hours informing us that the vehicle possibly had a bad alternator. The call was returned in the afternoon with no answer. On the evening of the 16th The customers husband called 2.5 hours after business hours and asked that I try and diagnose the vehicle over the phone and told me the Customer had jump started the car several times and now after several jump starts there are multiple warning lights on the dashboard. Which I believe is caused by incorrect jump starting by hooking up the cables to the incorrect terminals. On Wed Dec 17 another after hours Voicemail was left by the husband and the call was returned with no answer again at 8am on Thurs Dec 18 which no VM could be left because his mailbox was full. Customers husband was tried again at 915am, and again with no answer. The customers husband called yet again after hours and left a VM saying he would try to reach us at 8 am on Fri Dec 19. At 8 am on Dec 19 we finally talked to the customers husband and he stated he had told his his wife (the customer) from the beginning that it was a bad alternator and she still went out and bought a battery and tried to jump start it multiple times. I offered to pay for our mechanic to perform the labor if he supplied the part and he then stated that it was already at their mechanics shop and the will make the repairs there. Now on Dec 23 we get a letter in the mail from the Revdex.com stating a complaint was received and the customer states that the vehicles computer is bad or to quote the customer exactly "The computer Main Frame is Burnt up" per their mechanic. From my professional experience I know that it is very rare for a vehicle computer to go bad all on its own but I have seen vehicle computers malfunction from time to time and require replacement, which is usually a couple hundred dollar repair. But to hear the Computer is "Burnt", This I have only seen once in the over a Thousand car that my dealership has had. and that happened when a former employee of mine hooked a jump start box up to a [redacted] incorrectly Positive jump lead to Negative terminal and Negative to Positive. Vehicle computers Do Not burn themselves up without help. While I agree that it is very unfortunate that the vehicle broke down. My dealership has performed and offered very fair service to repair the mechanical issues even though the vehicle was sold AS-IS and we are not required to by law. We must draw the line at making repairs do to negligence. If there were to be a repair that was needed that my service techs overlooked then the vehicle was reconditioned we would make it hands down no questions asked. But this particular problem was very clearly and unfortunately caused by the customer.
