Oak Hill Motors of Erie County, Inc. Reviews (4)

Review: I bought a 2002 Subaru Outback in 8/2013. I have since put only just over 4,000 miles on it and recently began experiencing power loss problems. I took it to a dealership to have it looked at and was informed that improper catalytic converters had been installed and this will eventually lead to catastrophic engine failure. The dealership I bought it through performed and inspection of the car and said everything passed and put a new sticker on it. I have attempted to contact them to discuss my problem and the number has been disconnected. The owners name is [redacted]t and the dealership is Oakhill Motors in Waterford PA. The cost of the repairs is estimated at more then the value of the car, and this isn't the first problem I've had since buying it, it is actually the third thing to go wrong with it.Desired Settlement: I would either like my money back or for them to repair the car.

Buying a car at Oak Hill was the biggest mistake of my life. When raising concern and issues I had with my car the OWNER ignored me, refused to make repairs and overall was VERY disrespectful.
Being a woman, the owner BRIAN took advantage of the fact I knew little to nothing about cars, I was walked all over and ripped off.
I was a college student when I bought my first car at Oak Hill, a 99 Subaru Outback in 2012, three days after my purchase the car started to overheat. I took it to a local repair shop and found that it had blown a head gasket and leaking cam seals. I took it to a Subaru dealership and they also informed me the car had a blown head gasket and leaking cam seals.
I called Oak Hill and informed them of the issues. After a heated discussion we had come to an agreement that I would tow this car THREE HOURS to their dealership to have it repaired by their shop. After having it towed, they did provide me with a temporary rental, but had to pay for the tow myself in addition to several wasted days.
After my 99 had the head gasket fixed, I was talking to the mechanic and he informed me the cam seals had been taken care of (which was a lie) and I found myself driving another three hours to have Oak Hills' "experienced mechanics" fix my car again. They did provide me with a temporary rental for a second time while repairing my car, but again, I was not reimbursed for lost time or money.
During a roadtrip a few months later there was an issue with my alternator... bolts were not torque-tightened and I could remove several components BY HAND. The shop that Oak Hill had proclaimed as being so "credible" never even put my engine back together...
A year after my initial issues with the car it started to overheat a second time, I was blowing through radiators and I couldn't keep enough coolant in my car... Took it to another shop and they told me it was the head gasket... AGAIN. I tried calling Oak Hill and was never able to reach the owner. He was out of the office, with a customer or would "get back to me." Needless to say I never heard from him. When I did finally get a hold of him he was VERY rude and VERY disrespectful, the gentleman who had sold me the car had also given me an extended warranty (which I had the paperwork for), but the owner of the dealership, Brian, said that he would not honor this and hung up on me. BRIAN is a malevolent, selfish, and rude salesman and incompetent business owner.
I ended up fixing the head gasket for a second time and driving the car for another year before my head gaskets went for a THIRD time. Oak Hill sold me a lemon, refused to properly fix the car, did a chop-shop job at fixing my car, but pride themselves in being an "honest" dealership.
After being lied to, ignored, ripped off, taken advantage of, walked all over, breach of contractual agreements I would not recommend this dealership to my worst enemy.

Review: I purchased a 2006 Mercedes Benz SL500 from the dealer on 7/6/13. The car was lacking a wind deflector, which was included with the car, but it was down in Florida. The item was shipped from the dealer to me via UPS, and arrived damaged. Fortunately the dealer did have shipping insurance on it. I paid for the wind deflector with a separate bank check for $824.00 to the dealer when I bought the car. He told me he received a reimbursement check from UPS and would send it to me. This was 8/15/13. I would like the check so that I may order a new one from [redacted] Mercedes Dealership in Syracuse, NY, and I have informed the dealer this is what I will do. This is now over 2 weeks and I have not received the check from him. I faxed an order to him on 8/27/13 that [redacted] Motors in Syracuse had faxed to me, showing the cost of a new wind deflector. I have heard nothing from him. I would like the refund check since this is now going on 2 months and this is not resolved yet.Desired Settlement: Send me a refund check for $793.80, which is the cost quoted to me from [redacted] for the wind deflector. (I was quoted a lower cost from [redacted] than the Mercedes dealership in Buffalo, NY, which was $824.00). I agreed with the Oak Hill dealer that he could keep the $30.20 difference.

Review: This is my second complaint against Oakhill Motors. Our previous issues were only taken care of,in part, after the dealer received a letter form the Revdex.com. That was the only time we received any cooperation from them.Currently, our 2003 Subaru Baja that we purchased on 12-1-12 and paid cash for, is at a repair shop done and waiting for pickup. The problem being that Oakhill Motors sent the wrong warranty into the warranty company. As part of our negotiation when purchasing the vehicle, a 24 month, unlimited mileage warranty was to be included. After I signed the initial paperwork, I noticed that she had me sign the wrong one, a lower level coverage warranty, with our address wrong. I pointed this out to her, she apologized, and filled out the correct warranty for me to sign and I did so.Now, 5 1/2 months later, the engine on the vehicle had to be replaced as well as the bearings on both passenger side wheels (that we were told were new at the time of purchase). Upon the repair shop calling the warranty company to approve repairs, we found out that Oakhill Motors had sent in the wrong warranty, the first one I signed with the lower coverage.I have been in touch virtually daily with Oakhill Motors to get this situation resolved. The woman I have been dealing with exclusively has told me that Oakhill Motors will cover all costs over and above what would have been covered under the correct warranty and supply replacement parts originally agreed to at time of purchse, only after I refused their first offer of $500 and had contacted my attorney. It has now been 3 weeks of dealing with this and still no payment has been made. I am being told that she has to talk with the owner because the repair costs are too high and they need to figure out what to do. The owner is never in and I get no answers. Meanwhile I have been without a vehicle for 3 weeks and my Baja sets at the shop awaiting payment. Current out of pocket expenses after what the lower level warranty covers is approximately $1700Desired Settlement: I want the out of pocket costs to be paid in full immediately, and the replacement luggage rack cross bars and bed cover to be sent to me within one week.

Response:

In response to ID # [redacted] I have been in constant contact with [redacted] & [redacted] in reference to the incorrect warranty being sent to the warranty company. First the salesman [redacted] and finance officer [redacted] are no longer employed with our company. I had been in contact with [redacted] through the repair of their vehicle. I had contacted the warranty company and if we would have discovered that the incorrect contract was sent in we could have upgraded at our cost but as a claim had been opened they would not honor that so what I had agreed with [redacted] was that what we would cover was the difference of what the lower level warranty would cover and that is the hourly labor was $50.00 on the lower level warranty and $75.00 on the unlimited which we did as there were three jobs done on the vehicle which the second job was not covered under the warranty we also covered the labor as for the bearings, they passed PA inspection which we were not aware that the 2 previous employees had said under false pretense said that they were new, you will find attached what we paid which we paid in a timely manner when they were going to pick it up I called and made payment. I do not see where we are responsible for all the out of pocket expense, as for the luggage rack cross bars and bed cover that was another false pretense from the former employees but we will honor the replacements which will be sent to them.

I am the new manager I can be reached Monday-Friday 9am to 6 pm ###-###-#### my e-mail is [redacted]
