If you like being treated like trash, by all means feel free to move to Oak Park ApartmentsMy wife and I moved there in October of 2012, mainly because the rent was affordable, and they did not charge us a security deposit, pet deposit, or any extra fee for our cats each monthLittle did we know we were walking into a nightmareWe had an issue with our garbage disposal six months into our lease, it was not working, and after notifying management they did send over a maintenance tech to take care of the problemTheir idea of fixing our garbage disposal was removing it, and not replacing it with a new oneWe have been without a garbage disposal since, and their response in the office was, "we don't fix them because people don't know what they can and can't put down them." We had also noticed that some kind of animal or animals were running around in our walls and in the atticWhen we called the office, they questioned our sanity and never did anything about itSnow removal in this establishment is beyond awfulThey essentially make a path on the walkway two feet wide to walk, and do not get down to the pavementThis causes ice to form, and on more than one occasion my wife and I have fallen outside because of the *** poor nature of their snow removalLaundry machines in the basement are coin operated, and advertised as "High Efficiency" which is bogus because it sometimes takes two cycles to dry our clothesOne of the three washing machines have been broken for almost a year, despite numerous calls to management about itI called about a wasp nest the size of a bowling ball located above the main entrance of our building last May, and to date the nest is still thereWe have been trying to get out of there for months, as this mast March, our heat went out, and the office issued everyone space heaters until the problem could be fixedAfter having the space heater in our bedroom for three days, I came home one evening to discover the heater was goneI called my wife to see if Oak Park had contacted her for permission to enter, and she said they had notTherefore, they decided to enter our property without permission, and risked having our two cats get out of our unitWhen I called the office demanding answers, their response was, "Well you had our property, we just claimed what was ours." At this point, according to the language of the lease, the lease became null and voidWe finally found a new place to live, and because we are in a month to month, had to give days notice, which we did, to be exactBecause our notice was apparently days late, as they claimed they needed it by the end of the month, they are forcing us to stay through the end of SeptemberEveryone in the office is rude and condescendingWhen my wife was on the phone with one of the girls in the office demanding the number for someone above her, she was told to "Google It"They may try to rope you in by flaunting low rent, $security deposit, free heat and water, but trust me, pay the extra money somewhere elseOak Park will be nothing short of your worst nightmareStay away, stay far away
