Review: I am writing in the hopes of getting some resolution on issues that have occurred with your company, specifically parts for my 2015 Harley-Davidson [redacted], [redacted].

I purchased this bike in July from a dealership in Virginia. On July **, 2015, I took a trip to Long Island and was involved in an accident and had to take the bike to [redacted] Harley-Davidson in [redacted]. I explained to the employees that I had made reservations to attend Bike Week in [redacted] and would need the bike by August **. They assured me this would not be an issue.

I was never contacted by this dealership regarding the status, so beginning the week of August **, 2015, I began calling and inquiring on the status of the repair. I was told that the parts were on order. I called at least three times per week, I was told the same information; the parts were on order. They also informed me that the parts had to be painted and that that took time. At this point, I decided to call Harley-Davidson Headquarters in an attempt to expedite this process for the repair. I was not able to speak to any supervisors or receive any information on these parts, even after speaking to the Harley-Davidson Customer Care on three separate occasions. I was just informed that the parts were on order and there was nothing they could do.

I began calling the dealership in Oakdale on a daily basis September *, 2015 as Bike Week was 2 weeks later. I was told almost the same thing, the parts were on order, they were backordered, and they were working on it. The bike was not ready as initially promised. I informed them that I needed to pick-up the bike regardless of its repair state and would do so on September 12th. When I picked up the bike, I was told that the missing parts, consisting of the front fender and the lower fairing would be shipped to me. I was agreeable to installing the additional items such as the light and trim pieces that should have been completed at the dealership as I just wanted to take possession of my bike.

On October *, 2015, I received a package from Suffolk-County Harley-Davidson containing the front fender. When I went to put the fender on the bike, I was extraordinarily disappointed and horrified at the realization that they did not ship the hardware required to complete this. I still do not have possession of the lower fairing or the required parts to install these items.

It has now been 11 weeks since the bike was delivered to the Oakdale dealership. I have no lower fairing and no assembly hardware for the fender. The painting of the parts needed to complete the repair of the bike should not be this lengthy, it is a Harley paint style and the parts are coming from Harley, there is no reasonable explanation on why there is such an unbelievable delay. I have never been contacted by your organization to apprise me of the repair status, no offers to take corrective action on receiving of the parts, expediting the parts, even though they were informed that I wanted to pick my bike up prior to Bike Week. If I was purchasing a new Harley and it was damaged at the dealership, I’m confident there would be a rapid turnaround on parts. After all, Harley wants to sell the bike and make the customer happy with the purchase.

Over the last five years, I have purchased three Harley-Davidson motorcycles, totaling close to $50,000.00. This recent purchase was not pleasant from the beginning, I purchased over $1,500.00 worth of accessories for this bike the day I picked it up with the intention of returning the items if they were not needed. The sales people didn’t inform me that Harley-Davidson does not accept returns, but will issue a store credit. Therefore, when I tried to return the unneeded accessories within the first week, I could not receive my money back and that is when I was informed that there were no returns allowed. The items were in their original boxes, not opened and 100% resalable and was still informed that the only thing they could do was provide a store credit. I am appalled at the complete lack of customer service during this entire experience from purchase to repair.

I’m reaching out to you in the hopes of getting these issues resolved. I have been a loyal Harley-Davidson owner, but unless these problems can be addressed in a timely fashion, I will no longer be a Harley-Davidson customer.
