I was surprised to receive this complaintI have been inspecting your vehicles for approximately yearsEach year that's about vehicles for you and your familyIn those years you never had me fix any item that failed the Pa Safety inspectionDo you remember the time we failed a light bulb for not working and you took a tool without permission from my technicians toolbox and replaced the bulb in my shop without my permission? I was surprised to receive this complaint. I have been inspecting your vehicles for approximately 10 years. Each year that's about 5 vehicles for you and your family. In those years you never had me fix any item that failed the Pa Safety inspection. Do you remember the time we failed a light bulb...

for not working and you took a tool without permission from my technicians toolbox and replaced the bulb in my shop without my permission? I assume that you brought your cars to me for inspection because you felt I did a thorough inspection and kept your family safe. I never would expect you to buy tires or anything else from me. That's just the way you are and I was ok with that.As far as the two tires that did not pass inspection. I showed you the tread on inner tires that failed because they were less than 2/32" of tread depth on the inside part of the tread. You agreed that the tires needed to be replaced and said you wanted to get 4 tires when you came back from vacation next week, but you wanted me to put a new state inspection sticker on your vehicle now before the tires were replaced. You were upset when I said that’s fine I will put the inspection sticker when you get back and the new tires were on the car. You told me then I will get tires today and come back for the inspection sticker today. That’s why we charged you for the inspection sticker fee of $6.00.As far as the person measuring the tire depth at "[redacted]", they do not have a state inspection license and are not qualified to to say what passes or fails. Apparently they didn't inspect the whole tire and only looked where the best tread was. We are required to check for the "MINIMUM" tread depth when doing a Pa. Safety inspection. From my experience with places like that, they probably told you the tires were OK to pass" so they seem like, "the good guy" but also told you that they would not '‘warranty" the tires because they were worn on the inside and you never had them rotated or has a wheel alignment problem. We also told you that you have a control arm bushing that shows signs of wear but it’s not broken. Plus the front brakes pulsate when stopping and are grooved. We didn't fail those items but I did discuss this with you. If I was trying to sell you something why wouldn't I fail those items also? Inspection items either Pass or Fail and that's when the vehicle is in the shop being Inspected, not next week or next month. You accused me of hanging up on the manager of [redacted]. I personally never received a phone call. I then checked our voice records to see if perhaps someone other than myself answered the phone, there were no phone calls from [redacted] on our digital voice records. The only phone call we got was to ask Don (my service manager) if your car needed 2 or 4 tires to pass the inspection. As far as the $58 charge... Your vehicle passed the PA State emissions and you received a emissions sticker which was  $32.10 with tax. The charge for a state Inspection labor is pass or fail $16.55 plus tax. You also paid $6 plus tax for the Pa sticker. Typically if a vehicle "fails”, I do not charge the sticker fee until the customer comes back with the repairs but since you told me that you were going to get two new tires and "come back today" I believed what you said and left it on the invoice. I will gladly refund the $6.42 for the state inspection sticker that you did not get from me. That's all that your owed.Lastly, if I would have put a inspection sticker on your car with the tires that were on the car the day when I inspected it and a problem occurred like a blow out etc. you would be the first to blame me for passing unsafe tires! Review: I went to get my car inspected and Oakmont Automotive failed me saying I needed 2 new tires. I have purchased my tires at [redacted] so I went back to [redacted] and told them that my car failed and I needed new tires The service person measured the tires that supposedly needed replaced and showed me that the tire measured 8/32. Even the the manager of the tire dept was shown the tire and he said there is no way I needed new tires. He called Oakmont Automotive and asked why they flunked the car and was told the tires. The gentleman at Oakmont auto hung up on the manager from [redacted] when the manager tried to explain that the tires didnt need replaced. The tire would have to measure 2/32 to fail. Oakmont Auto made me pay for the inspection for nothing. They are just out to make extra money on tires. I went to another garage and my car passed inspection no problems. They are trying to rip people off. As a result I had to pay for inspection twice.Desired Settlement: I want my money back that I paid for an inspection that failed because he wanted to make money on me

I wish I could give it NO stars. The owner, Chuck, not only talks your head off, repeating the same thing over and over again, not letting you get a question in edge-wise, but apparently takes it upon himself to give you an oil change when you don't ask for it and he charges over $70 bucks for it! Also, we brought our 2012 truck in; we'd had it less than a year, and upon picking it up, we noticed that the tailgate had a huge dent in it. When we asked him about it, his response was, "that was there when you dropped it off". Complete denial and unwillingness to consider that it happened on his lot. Absolute [redacted]! So, please be warned that if damage happens to your vehicle in his possession, you are on your own. He will take NO responsibility. Oh, and for charging the outrageous prices he does, you would think he would use more expertise than checking the internet to diagnose your vehicle's problems, which he oddly seemed to be proud of!
