Review: [redacted],[redacted] of Oakwood Construction actively pursued our business & knowingly misled us into believing he had previous experience building modular homes, as our project was. He bid on our project with fabricated quotes pieced together from previous jobs he'd bid, proceeding to supply all different & outdated plans to each of the subcontractors, resulting in a gross underbid on each subcontractors scope of work. We hired him after high pressure & untruthful endorsements from the architect we were using, as the two are close personal friends of 20 years. Once hired as Construction Manager, with the understanding we were on a tight budget and timeline, as we have two small children & were expecting a new baby following displacement for over two years as a result of Hurricane Sandy. From the getgo, due to his lack of knowledge & experience with modulars, he caused tensions, confusion, and delays with the modular company who was building our home. Unbeknownst to us, he had a planned vacation which would render him absent the week of the house delivery, therefore, in the critical transition phase from factory to site, [redacted] rushed delivery, completely ignoring any and all details causing remarkably never ending fallout. Furthermore, he proceeded to leave for said vacation in the middle of the daylong house setting, and remained absent for the following 10 days, even though, he later told us his vacation had been cut short due to weather. When he finally did return to site, his lack of experience and conscientiousness caused damage to our property. He then quit 3 times within the next week in exceptionally disrespectful and unprofessional fashion, finally showing up and removing many materials from our property without our presence or permission. Now in addition to the time/money his deception caused, we face liens on our property for building materials he ordered without our consent, and presumably took with him upon departure. He has put a lien as well claiming hes owed money.Desired Settlement: We would like back the $17,500 in management fees we paid [redacted], as he failed to fulfill any part of the job for which he was hired, and proceeded to cause several thousand dollars in water damage due to negligence, as found by insurance claim investigation. Additionally he underbid the entire project, causing us to be $50,000 over budget, as well as, caused an additional $25,000 in fees to address engineering over sites, as well as, plumbing issues causing compliance problems with [redacted].
