Oakwood Village Apartments Reviews (4)

Review: I am writing this in regards to Oakwood Village Apartments located in [redacted]. I was interested in renting an apartment in Oakwood Village. I filled out an application and gave a "holding fee" to hold my apartment on September 18th, 2014. My check in the amount of $300 was cashed on 9/23/14 by the Oakwood Village Office, which covered the application fee ($100) and holding fee ($200). I was notified of our approval for the apartment and made arrangements to move there on 11/30/14 and have all of our furniture delivered. I placed many phone calls to the office staff who neglected to answer the phone, and rarely returned voice mails. I was calling to set up a day to go see my potential apartment to do some measuring around the house and make sure I got the appropriate furniture to fit the rooms. My boyfriend spoke with an employee in the office and they stated that they have not returned our calls because the employee who was in charge of our file had been out of the office. The employee also stated that our file has been sitting on her desk and she "hasn't had a chance to get to it yet". This is not only inappropriate behavior, but it is also very unprofessional. We asked when we can come in to do some measurements of the apartment and we were told November 29th, which is 1 day before we are supposed to sign our lease. This is upsetting to me because we have to be out of our current living situation by 11/30/14, which was when our lease with Oakwood Village was supposed to start. I have had managers who have neglected to return my calls and are very rude when I do finally get in touch with them. All I wanted was to be refunded my holding fee because I could not make my next home a place that has terrible customer services skills. The manager stated that she cannot refund my holding fee. There was not 1 paper that I signed that said the holding fee was "nonrefundable". I told the manager I was going to contact corporate and she said "ok" and went to hangupDesired Settlement: I would like my holding fee in the amount of $200 refunded to me.

Review: Centipedes have been found inside and outside the apartment building. I have informed Oakwood Village Apartments about this issue and they have promised to resolve the issue. [redacted] have come out four times to treat this and the issue has not been resolved, after the first two times I explained to [redacted] that they should probably treat the entire building of apartments and the basement because the surrounding neighbors also have this issue. The basement is extremely wet and I believe this is contributing to the multiplication of the insects and Oakwood Village have NOT resolved the issue. After the last treatment from [redacted], I explained to Oakwood Village that I would be filing a complaint if this issue was not fixed. Although we have put a work order in water builds up when it rains in the sliding glass door, which may be contributing to the centipede issue. In addition to the centipede issue, there are now mice all around the apartment building. One was found downstairs in my neighbors unit and we found one dead right outside of the building. There is also a family of groundhogs under my downstairs neighbors deck which comes out and runs around the building where children are playing and we walk our animals. It is evident pests are an issue and Oakwood Village is not trying to resolve the issue when we pay a lot of money to live here. All of these things are an issue to everyones health who lives in the building.Desired Settlement: I would like the centipedes exterminated from my unit and also the additional pests removed to keep the surrounding area sanitary. If the issue is not taken care of within the near future I would like to be compensated for the all of the time which the issue has been not been repaired. Oakwood Village cannot enforce the terms of the lease if they are breaching their responsibilities within the lease agreement.

Same thing happen to us. Poor management/communication & unorganized

Review: I reside at Oakwood Village Apt complex, I have never been late or had any issues, Due to extingant circumstances I am moving at the end of my lease. I went to the leasing office on July 1st and told them I will be moving at my lease end (Aug 24th) They told me I am supposed to give 60 days notice. However I explained I never received any notice and the mail and they said IT WAS OK given my circumstances. I then signed my end of lease paperwork and They further explained to me that there will be no penalty and thanked me for being a great tenant. Today on July 11th I received a notice on my door to contact the leasing office, I called them and spoke with a [redacted] who is in charge, She told me I must Now Pay $275 for an extra pro rated week because I didnt notify them I was moving within 60 days. I told her I already signed the paperwork and was told I will not be charged any penaltys. [redacted] then became Upset and told me "YOU WILL PAY THE $275 OR YOU WILL BE CHARGED 2 EXTRA MONTHS RENT" I kept trying to plead my case that I was already told I do not have to pay the extra and I even signed papers, [redacted] because tumultous on the phone and stated "OK HAVE IT YOUR WAY 2 MONTHS RENT" and then hung up on me. My boyfriend [redacted] called the office later trying to reason with these people, he spoke with [redacted] who told him too bad you are being charged 2 months rent. [redacted] went a step further and contacted Kettler to make a complaint, they took the information and shortly after the Oakwood village manager called [redacted] and told him that we are goin to be billed $275 and there is nothing she could do about it. He even offered that we move out a week early, she said she cant do anything. I would like you to look into this case because there are several bad reviews online of similar situations, where tennants are charged these extra charges and cant do anything about it, its basically a shakedown and they have your security deposit so your at their mercy.Desired Settlement: I would like an apoligy from[redacted] who extremely rude over the phone, I would also like to not be ripped off $275 on my security deposit.
