Review: I received services from Oasis Dental in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009. At the time the services were rendered I was told I did not owe anything for the services, and they were completely covered my my dental insurance. In May 2012, I contacted Oasis Dental to schedule an appointment, and I was told that I could not schedule an appointment until I settled the $400 unpaid bill. I explained to the lady that I had never received a bill from Oasis dental, I did not know of any outstanding charges, and at the time of service I was told I did not owe anything. I also explained to her that in January 2010, I filed for and was granted a bankruptcy and if I was properly informed about this bill it would have been discharged in my bankruptcy. The women explained to me that they had some billing issues and I needed to pay the bill and I should receive a bill in the mill any day. I never received a bill for the charges until yesterday, March 26, 2013. I contacted Oasis dental today Mach 27, 2013 about the bill I received and expressed my concern about the incorrect information Oasis Dental billing gave me at the time of service, my concern that it took 4 years and in some cases as long as 7 years, to send a bill to a patient for services they received from their practice, and to inform them that most of these charges if not all have surpassed the statue of limitations for collection in [redacted] of 4 years.Desired Settlement: I would like the charges discharged and collection activities to ceased. It is not good practice to try and hound someone fro a bill that they were initially told they did not have by the person in charge of billing at the time of service. It does not sit well with me that a business can be allowed to negatively affect a persons credit for a bill that they did not know that they had because they were not properly informed about the business until 4 years plus after services were rendered. It is not a patients fault that an employee screwed up, and it should not be the patients duty to remedy the issue that was not caused by the patient, especially after such a long period of time.
