Obsidian Financial Services is a company run by the sister in law (Tanya Seely) of a loan officer, Michael Seely at Nationwide Equities 1 International Blvd Suite 1202 Mahwah, NJ 07495.
They share sensitive customer information between the two companies without notifying customers and engage in fraudulent advertisement, and mislead consumers into rates which do not exist. Their loan estimates are fraudulent and the numbers don't match up. This practice isn't the work of a lone rogue loan officer but practiced by all senior management. I would be extremely careful when dealing with them and make sure you get everything in writing before doing business with them.
Due to their own mistakes they have missed to closing dates. Today we are scheduled for the third try at closing, I fully expect them to miss this one also. I gave them one star because I couldn't give them less.
UPDATE:
This is intended up date my previous review of 09-30-19. We did not close as I had antisapated on 09-30-19 at which time I gave up and went elsewhere for my refi. A few days later the I was contacted by someone at their corporate office who offered me an immediate closing at the agreed upon rate. They kept their promises and we did close immediately.
Misleading Advertising.
Uses official looking Veterans Affairs letterhead to fool veterans into thinking their offer is from the VA rather than a private company.
Remove VA letterhead from your advertising. If your product/company is of such fine standing you don't need to rely on the VA's name to get potential customers to look at your advertising.
They mis-represent themselves as an official VA program and fail to ever identify themselves as a private business in their mailed marketing.
Obsidian Financial sent me a mailer advertising VA refinancing options. On the single page mailer they: 1) use a seal that is identical to the VA seal in appearance, but has been modified with almost unreadable text with their website ('***.com') in place of the actual 'Department of Veterans Affairs' text on the official seal; 2) Use bold texted "U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs" next to their fake seal; 3) Use an official Veterans Affairs address at the bottom of the mailer ("***"); and 4) never actually identify themselves other than as a "lending institution." On contacting the phone number provided in the mailer the individual answered with "VA Streamlines," and only admitted to not being associated with the VA when directly asked.
I believe this business practice to be misleading with the intent of deceiving customers about the origin of the offer, and it should be stopped.
I believe Obsidian Financial should change their mailer to clearly identify themselves as a lender that is not officially associated with the VA. I also believe this particular mailer should be referred to the VA for tracking and follow-up as required, should they deem it appropriate. Finally, I do not wish to be contacted by Obsidian Financial in the future.

This is a response to the referenced complaint. Obsidian Financial Services Inc. is a licensed Lender that only engages in compliant practices that comply with rules and regulations for mailers. We have recently identified a rogue Loan Originator that had sent out these particular mailers of which did not comply with our companies policies. After reviewing the mailer that was sent out; we have since terminated our relationship with that Loan Originator. We have reviewed the website which does not appear to be deceptive; and clearly identifies the following. " A VA Approved Lender; Obsidian Financial Services Inc. - NMLS #***. Not affiliated with the Dept. of Veterans Affairs or any government agency. " In addition, the Logo is completely different from the Veterans Affairs logo. Obsidian Financial Services Inc. is not the owner of this domain or website, and we are trying to get in touch with the Loan Originator to have the website removed.

One of the fastest lender's in the the industry. Closed our FHA loan within two weeks and we made contract just in time. The prior lender, a company out of India, kept coming back with conditions because their lender kept coming back with conditions. Obsidian Underwriting staff was constantly updating us with the loan status. The company from India had no Underwriter so God only knows what was going on there. I went and put on credit alerts because God knows what these people were doing with out information. If you looking for a loan, and your looking o close within two weeks then Obsidian is your lender.
Stay away from them. They took all my information and never got back to me
