Octane Jockey LLC, DBA Octane Thrills is a high performance off road rental company that specializes in performance off road equipment, I.E Polaris RZRsWe have many machines with different CC sizes for family fun or for thrills seekersAll of our equipment is less than years old and has less than 8,miles on any machineMaintenance is performed on them every hours and inspected with each customer before they take possessionOur equipment ranges from RZR MSRP of $22,and our top of the line product RZR Turbo MSRP of $27,We buy the best equipment possible so we have reliable machines for our customersDue to the nature of the off road sport, customers may cause damage to the machinesAlmost all of component failures, on our machines, is due to driver errorWe take as much time as needed to make sure our customers understand damage may happen, but it is an exception, not the norm! This Customer and his guests damaged the machine by driving it too hard and aggressive in a very short period of time, which caused them to blow the drive beltThey insisted on renting the RZR Turbo which has the most horsepower of all machines on the marketIf driven with improper throttle control the machine can blow a drive belt easilyThis was all explained during the pre-inspection of the vehicle with these customersWe also explained how to drive the machine correctly so they would not have any issuesThe customer did exactly what we told him not to doSo about minutes into his ride he calls me because he blew a beltI let him know there is a spare belt on the machine, if he wanted to change it himselfI told him if he did not feel comfortable changing the belt I would come to them and change the beltThey asked me to come help them which I was more than happy to doI showed up to change the belt and as soon as I pulled the belt cover off I noticed that the belt was completely annihilatedThe Primary clutch was still very hot after over minutes of sittingIt was clear that the customer was driving the unit very hard and overheated the belt which caused it to literally explodeI told them I did not feel comfortable sending this machine back out because the belt was so damaged, I wanted to make sure there was no further damage to the machine or clutchesI use a third party company to inspect the machines to keep it fair when we have any possible issues with our RZRsThe mechanic inspected the machine and said there is nothing wrong with the clutches and he drove the machine for a half hour and said there is no mechanical issues and the belt was blown due to how the machine was drivenEven though the customer had damaged the machine I tried to work with themI gave them a number of optionsI was willing to give them another machine for that day or a credit for another dayIf they decided to take one of those options I was willing to waive the belt fee and the recovery feeAgain they caused damaged to the machine and they declined all options that I provided for themThey became very difficult to work withLet's not forget, they are the ones who destroyed the drive belt and declined all other options that were provided to themThe two alternative options that I gave them was above and beyond what was fairOur company was not going to give them a refund because we sent them out with a perfectly fully function machine that we checked over together during the pre inspectionThey tookpossession of the machine with no issuesWith this being said our company was being more than fairThis is an example of people not taking responsibility for their actionsJust to recap: The customers destroyed the drive beltOur company was not going to charge them for the belt if they took another machine that day or a credit for another dayThey wanted a refund which was not an option due to the fact they damaged the machineThey then threatened to call the credit card company to get their money backAt this point our company made the decision to take all our terms and conditions of the rental contract to the full extent and charge the customers for all admin fees, damages and recovery feesThe customer could have avoided these charges if they took the other unit that day or had taken the credit for the future rentalWe tried to go above and beyond for this customer.Just a quick side note, the belt in this machine was virtually brand new and was about days old and only and had maybe one or two rides on itAttached is the purchase order for the drive belt for our only turbo in the fleetIn this industry it is a common practice for almost all UTV and RZR rental companies to provide a spare belt and to charge for damaged drive belts because it is such common mistakeThis is the most common damage to the machines due to fact of improper throttled controlThis customer asked if we charged for drive belts before he rented and we made him fully aware that is his responsibilityThe customer seemed a little reluctant about our response and still decided to take possession of the machine after the pre- inspectionThese machines have extremely high horsepower and are belt driven with centrifugal clutchesIf a customer slams on the gas they could blow a brand new belt before they even leave the parking lotEspecially with the RZR TurboWe did try to come to a fair compromise with this customerPurchase orders, invoices and rental contract are included with these documents.Octane Jockey has been a leader in the industry by providing excellent and fair service for both the customer and our company.Sincerely, Frank S*Octane Jockey LLC, DBA Octane Thrills

This customer caused damage to machine by driving it too aggressive and inappropriately as explained in detail in our first response We try to accommodate all of our customers, even if they make mistakes the first time they rent As explained in the first response we tried to come to a compromise with this customer who damaged and abused the machineWhen the customer became unreasonable we took are contract terms to the full extent and charged accordingly There will be no refund

Attached are the erroneous charges from Octane Thrills. If I damaged the belt on the most high performance machine in 5.6 miles, then Polaris would not make these machines. Furthermore, why was I charged so much for a 5.6 mile ride. Why wasn't I charged for the belt only if that is in fact what I damaged? $1400.88 for 20 minutes no 5.6 miles, how is this justifiable? Also, Pctane Thrills response states that they only charged  me after I declined to rent another machine from their company in the future. Octane Thrills didn't offer the same type of machine to use after this one broke and I know how I was driving the machine, so why would I want to use another piece of equipment that isn't maintained. Why would Octane Thrills offer me another machine if I was so hard on the first one that was rented?
