Review: I hired this contractor (spoke to [redacted] who gave us the estimate initially) to build a deck at my primary residence - [redacted] - our townhouse. We agreed on price and the contractor was pretty quick with the job. As a requirement from the township the three (3) inspections must be passed before we get a Certificate of Approval. Due to some issues the contractor failed to pass the final (3rd) inspection and as a result we did not get the Certificate and we have a deck that adds no monetary value to the house. We spent $7,400 which was the agreed upon price. We paid the contractor all the money ($7,400) with me giving him the last check of $1,400 after the deck was built but before the final inspection was passed. When the final inspection failed [redacted] promised to send someone over to fix the issues and pass the final inspection. It never happened...

I left numerous messages since 09/20/2013 (date when the inspection was failed) for both [redacted] and his wife [redacted] (she serves as a secretary for their business) and never got a call back. I went to see [redacted] on 11/10/2013, he promised to send someone over by the end of the week (11/17/2013) - never happened. Left another voice mail for him after that and don't really know what to do now. I would really appreciate your help in this. Thanks!Desired Settlement: Without deck meeting Township standards and me getting the Certificate from the township I can't sell or do anything else with the house (I can, but I have to take the deck apart). This project cost me a lot of money with no monetary value added. I'd like to hire another contractor to rebuild the deck to meet the township standards, pass all the necessary inspections and get me the Certificate from the township. I would like to get 50% of the money I paid him back - $3,700. He did some work (the value I put on it is $1,700) and he bought the wood (Home Depot's price is $2,000) - this is what he fairly earned. The rest - $3,700 - would have been his profit - I would like to get back from him for breaching the contract, wasting my time and money and being unethical in his business dealings. Thank you!

Odyssey provides itself on expert craftmanship and timely deck fence and paver installations. The homeowners deck was completed in a timely fashion. It failed it's final inspection with the township only because we had to go put gravel under the stairs at the bottom of the deck. We are working to resolve this issue. The weather has been a factor in completing this work with numerous snow storms and record cold weather. Odyssey prides itself on customer satisfaction. Odyssey will make sure this work gets completed.

I am rejecting this response because:

Cold weather and numerous snow storms is not a factor in this dispute. The deck was built back in September and about a months and a half later (after numerous voice mails to the business owner's cell phone and the business telephone line) I physically stopped by to see the owner. At that point he reassured he would fix the deck up and get the approval by the end of next week - still waiting for that week to end. Again, weather is not a factor here... I do not want this guy anywhere near my property. He should be banned from doing business with people due to poor, I mean non-existant, customer service. Thanks!
