Review: I went to this business to just get an oil change. It ended up costing me much more than expected because of theft of my personal belongings.

I came to this business on the 30th of March in 2013 to just get an oil change. The oil change was really slow, which was okay with me at the time because I had used a coupon I received in the local Penny Saver. At the time of the visit, I had an expensive pair of Panasonic wireless headphones for the dvd entertainment system in the vehicle. Within the last month, I have looked everywhere for those pair of headphones. I had assumed that they were under neath the second row seats as I had left them. They were not there or anywhere else in the vehicle, in my house or in my storage. My visit with this above property was the last time I left my vehicle unattended without direct supervision. I have researched all of my records and have not had the vehicle serviced for any other reason. I have not loaned my car to anyone. I have not used valet. It has to be the time the headphones were stolen. Desired Settlement: I want the company to research the employee records of the time of my visit. If any of their employees have had issues of theft, then it is obvious what happened to my headphones. I want them replaced by the business.

Review: Needed smog check & my auto failed due to the battery was disconnected recently. They chged me full amt w/nothing posted re: battery failure

My auto needed a smog check and since I had service with this store before for both smog & oil service, I had just returned for both services on 8/24/13. I had explained to the young man re: the difference with test only and he informed me that they were qualified. I also informed him with general conversation that I had recently done some work on my car like bought new wiper blades, cleaned battery terminals, etc. to make sure everything was fine. I left my auto and went next door to shop - only to return a short time later and he stated my car was done. When I went to pay - he informed me my car had failed due to a disconnect of memory with my battery. I told him again - I said I had cleaned my battery and that something should have been said when I told him or something should be posted ANYWHERE in the waiting room. He then said that I still had to be charged full price but that I could bring my auto back for 1/2 price to have it retested. I asked what I needed to do and he informed me that he could give no instruction but that I could speak with a repair center. I feel that this is a way to take advantage of the general public as we have no knowledge that when we clean our battery terminals - that we cannot have it smogged for at least 60-100 miles. Or when I informed him with general conversation - that maybe he should have questioned me further since they have the automotive experience - not me. Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of the retest.

Business

Response:

Initial Business Response

Company states that they were not aware that any repairs had been done to the vehicle until after the consumer had failed the smog. At that point that was when the consumer went into detail as to the repairs done. The consumer is not entitled to a refund as it is not their fault that the car failed. The consumer was offered a 1/2 off retest, there is nothing left to offer.

Final Consumer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

First of all - I did inform the tech in general conversation that I had issues with the car starting because of my battery as I expressed my frustration of the corrosion build up on the terminals that had been causing starting issues. A I then failed the test and was informed by another station that I had to run the car for over 100mi for computer memory. But I still experienced starting issues and took my auto to [redacted] (within the week or so) as I had purchased my battery from them a few years prior. It turned out that there was a bad cell and the battery needed to be replaced (which they did). I then continued to use my auto to reach miles over for the computer memory. When I brought my car back - I was refused the discount because I was a few days over their "30 day" return. I still believe I am due a refund if not a partial refund.
