Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2014/04/02) */
Aloha,
This is regarding the complaint filed against us on 03/05/case number ***
We originally had spoken to her regarding another unit that she was interested in that had two televisions in the bedroomsShe decided to
rent out a different unit, the Nokea suite in the AllureWe gave her the link to the property (http://www.obrhi.com/Rentals/Property-Details/ProductID/129/allure-waikiki.aspx... check out the link and see for yourself that we did not advertise televisions in the bedroom or a cd playerI also have a signed copy of our contract that shows that we made no such claims that I would be more than happy to provide to youShe contacted us to show how displeased she was and we went out and purchased two flat screen televisions in an attempt to make her happyPlease email me and I will attach all of the documentation we have on file, regarding this individualI feel like this claim is unfounded and we have made every attempt to remedy her confusionPlease let me know if you have any other questions regarding this case and I am happy to assist

Unfortunately I have had some bad dealings with Ohana Beach Rentals Hawaii and need to let people know about my experience.
1. When I had to fill out the Rental Agreement, I noticed that they automatically added an extra ten dollars to Make a Wish Hawaii. I was peeved by this. However, as it was a good cause I let the matter go. However in light of other things that had happened after the stay, I wonder if the donation is REALLY going to Make a Wish. Very deceptive practice.
2. The cleaning fee had increased this time to $247.50. With that type of cleaning fee, you expect a great job. Unfortunately I had to reclean the counters because they were sticky. The floors felt like there was still sand on it from the last people. There was also a sewer smell coming from the toilet -- though I don't think that is the cleaner's fault. The sewer smell lasted for the duration of our stay. We had to keep the toilet lid down at all times.
3. When I stayed here this time, they had me fill out this huge check list (numerous pages) to see if anything was broken. I had to fill it out and submit it within 24 hours of arrival. One of the kitchen lights was broken so I mentioned it on the form. A couple of days later, I discovered that one of the beach chairs (not on the form) was broken and mentioned it to management so I wouldn't be charged for it. We actually purchased another chair and left it behind at the condo.
4. Well, I'm back home and I get this Email from Ohana Management claiming that we broke the garbage disposal and that they would end up deducting this from my security deposit. A few days later they charged my credit card on file for $90 to replace the garbage disposal. Going through our books a week later (when we pay our bills), we find that they haven’t even given us our security deposit back. I’m not sure if they were trying to pull a fast one on us. But because of the Make A Wish incident I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case. I finally received my security deposit back after I complained to them. I noted that the check was dated for after my complaint. If I had never complained, I’m not sure if I would have ever gotten that money back.
5. The worst thing is that we had never even used the garbage disposal. Unfortunately the owner stayed at the condo right after we stayed and discovered that her disposal wasn’t working. We overlooked that one item on that checklist of 245 items. Somebody who stayed at the condo before us broke the disposal but we ended up having to pay for it because we didn’t report it broken. We ended up paying $45 (after a great deal of negotiation) but felt it was still completely unfair as we had nothing to do with it.
While I loved the condo, I am very hesitant to rent from them again due to the management company. To those who decide to use Ohana Beach Rentals Hawaii to rent your condo, go over your multi-page contract with a fine-toothed comb. Take time away from your vacation and pretend you're not in paradise for an hour to double and triple-check that things are working as they should. The list had 245 items for me to check (yes, I counted the number of items on the list!). It was my fault for overlooking the disposal. Unfortunately I had to pay for it with $45 and countless hours of my time trying to get this settled. And make sure you get your security deposit back before they start charging your credit card on file for things that you didn't break. And if they automatically charge you $10 for a donation to Make A Wish Foundation, I would dispute it and donate in your own name to that worthwhile charity to make sure that the money does indeed go where it's supposed to.
