Ohio Build & Remodel Has ceased doing business, that is why the phones have been disconnected This was a decision that was unavoidable and made with deep regret [redacted] is a legitimate company and should honor any stair lift issues under warranty that our customers may have The correct number to call for service would be ###-###-####

First, the message I received from the Ohio Attorney General said, "We have been corresponding with Ohio Build & Remodel regarding your complaintA copy of their response is enclosedAccording to their letter, unfortunately, the business has not agreed to resolve your complaint." Those are pretty strong words, and that is all; no offer was included in the company's response that I received from the Attorney General.Second, I did not agree to having the left drain instead of right drain shower installedTo state that I did so is patently falseI heard the installers talking among themselves, saying they would have to install the left drain because that is what they brought with them--despite the contract specifically saying right drain showerI was never consulted about this change. It appears to me that the installers did not read the contract before leaving for my house, since they did not bring the right drain shower called for in the contract and they also were not aware that the contract called for them to replace the float in the toilet until I showed them my copy of the contractAnd then, of course, they replaced the flapper instead of the floatI have no explanation for the latter error, and I did not know the difference between the two parts at the time.I have since solved the shower drain problem myself so that I can use the showerI have no experience at plumbing but have done a lot of carpentry work, so I cut a 2"x10" board to fit flush against the shower's "curb," applying two coats of Kilz primer and two coats of white Valspar porch and floor enamel before caulking all places where the board meets the tile floor as well, of course, as where it meets any part of the Jacuzzi shower's base.I have no reason to trust this companySince they continue to maintain that I have a drainage problem unrelated to the sloping pipe and say I will need to pay them if that is true, that attitude serves to reinforce my opinion--as well as evidence I've seen online, including the company's record with Revdex.com--of Ohio Build & Remodel being a shady operation and not a professionally operated business I expect a refund of $1,to cover all costs related to the shower, toilet and credit card feeThe credit card fee also was never discussed with me and could have been avoided had the company waited a few days for my credit union to approve the home improvement loan for which I applied and soon received. The company has agreed to reimburse me the $credit card fee as well as a "reasonable" amount for fixing the toilet properly (which still has not been done)I need a concrete figure, as I have no idea what a reasonable charge might be for the toilet repairIf a payment agreement cannot not reached, I reserve the right to further contest this by filing suit with the Circuit Court of Kanawha County, West Virginia

Shortly after installation of this bathtub the customer called for service, saying that the tub was leaking The original contractor that installed the tub went to the home and determined that the Mrswas not pushing the door handle down all the way and the door was not sealing properly After that service call we have not heard from the [redacted] until December 5, The Mrstated that they want to sell the house and the watub seems to be a deterrent to getting it sold. The tub has been in the home almost two years and we cannot take it out without a cost to them We have offered to remove the watub, and if they will purchase a regular bathtub we will install it for them at a cost of $ We will take the watub away or they can keep it if they wish

I reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and find the resolution is satisfactory to me I have no choice, customer service very poor, poor response timeI would like to know also what exactly is included in the life time warranty I believe this too was misrepresentedI have been patient long enoughBefore you sell you need to know how to install this correctly, which I feel is a big part of your problem Regards, [redacted]

Rich has gone to ***'s home twice and he has not been home
either time.
There is nothing wrong with the project. *** has just now decided that he feels he
overpaid for the project He has come
to this conclusion based on his opinion of what the cost of
material is. However, cost of material is only a small
part of the remodeling project.
*** received a generous discount on his project and the
work is spectacular

There are several discrepancies regarding the truth in Ohio Build & Remodel's (OBR) 3-29-offer to settle our complaint. Their first sentence is inaccurate. We did not call them the "very next day" to inform OBR we could not use the lift. The day installed, 1-27-16, & immediately thereafter, we realized that my husband, ***, would be unable to use the lift. The installers called OBR at that time & told them that we wanted to send it back. After some phone discussion between OBR & us, the installers disassembled it right then & they left with the lift on 1-27-16, the same day The sales rep had told us that the chair swiveled, so we had the impression it could be used in a straight-forward motion to move up & down the stairs. The limitations of the lift were not explained to us by the repon 1-25-16, the day of sale. *** was in bed with the leg brace on his right leg*** discussed all his surgeries & his inability to bend that leg. At that point, we feel the rep should have known, & told us, that *** would not be able to use the lift because our stairs aren't wide enough for him to motivate in the chair with his leg fully extended sideways. Some of our family members were here on 1-27-& they witnessed the entire incident; & also heard OBR's unprofessional, rude phone conversation with us. OTHER DISCREPANCIES; RE VIDEO -- No video was shown to us on 1-25-by the rep, as was stated by OBR. ***'S INABILITY TO SIT UPRIGHT, OR BEND BOTH LEGS -- *** did not tell the rep he was unable to sit upright. He did, however, explain it was impossible to bend his right leg. *** has kept his doctor's appointments, I have driven him, & his left leg is bendable. PRIOR COMPANY'S HOME VISIT -- One other lift company was here, but as soon as the rep informed us the rail would extend 18" beyond our stairs, we told him that would be impossible because it would block us from having a clear path into the kitchen. Their time was cut short due to that fact. OBR's assumption is wrong regarding *** forgetting which company he discussed his surgeries withRAILING CUT -- ($charge to cut the railing in their 3-29-offer) -- The railing should have been the correct length at the time of installation. The reason is that on 1-25-16, I told the rep about the 18" extension & asked if OBR's would be that long, & he implied, "no". We went downstairs to the kitchen area & he showed me how far out it would extend, about 6". That was agreeable because 6" would not interfere with the flow of traffic into the kitchenHowever, on installation day (1-27-16), as the installers were ready to secure the rail to the floor, I saw it was protruding too far out, far beyond the 6" quote to me. I asked the installer to stop because the rail was too long. The installer called OBR & OBR told him at that time, to cut the rail, & it was cut. It was not our fault that the rail was delivered here at the wrong length. OBR wants us to pay for their mistake. That rail no doubt will be put in storage for another jobsite, & not be a loss for OBRRE SETTLEMENT -- OBR offered a full refund of $3

We installed a stair lift for Mrand Mrs***. The very next day they called to say that they could not use the lift due to the condition of Mr***’s legs. They have stated that our sales representative knew that Mr*** could not bend his legs to be able to sit in an
upright position. This simply is not true. Our representative states the Mr*** was in bed during the demonstration (which includes a video showing the operation of the stair lift) and did not mention or show him his legsA person must be able to sit upright to use the stair lift and we would not have sold one to him if we had known. As much as we are in the business of commerce, we have nothing to gain by installing a product that the consumer cannot use. They admit that they had another company out the day before we came to their house, maybe they told them about Mr***’s legs but they did not tell us. They also admit that they have seen pictures of our stair lift and other brands of stair lifts and the person was always in an upright sitting position. We feel it was reasonable that they should have known that this is how a stair lift operates. We had offered Mrand Mrs*** a refund of $in the past. That refund was based on the following:Contractor installation invoice $500.00Stair lift rail that was cut to their stair length $600.00Company administration fee $325.00The total amount invested in the *** installation equaled $1425.00. They had given a $down payment, so the offer $is money that was not spent by OBR. We feel that that was a fair offer, but Mrand Mrs*** rejected it To try to settle this matter OBR is willing to refund $2200.00. This reflects an elimination of the administration fee and lowering the railing to $300.00. In the interest of putting this to rest, I hope the ***’s will agree to this offer. If they do, we will refund $to the credit card that they used and a check for $1200.00. I have enclosed the thread of emails asking for the cost of the stair lift rail and also a copy of the installers invoice. Rich M***

OBR is aware of this issue and its resolution is of the
highest priority. To ensure that the
customer receives the best service OBR has reached out to the manufacturer of
this product to clarify a few things. We
are waiting on some more information from the manufacturer and hope
to be able
to fix the problem next week. As soon as
we have the exact date that we will be at the customers house I will let you
know. Thank you

Shortly after installation of this bathtub the customer called for service, saying that the tub was leaking.  The original contractor that installed the tub went to the home and determined that the Mrs. was not pushing the door handle down all the way and the door was not sealing...

properly.  After that service call we have not heard from the [redacted] until December 5, 2016.  The Mr. stated that they want to sell the house and the walk-in tub seems to be a deterrent to getting it sold. The tub has been in the home almost two years and we cannot take it out without a cost to them.  We have offered to remove the walk-in tub, and if they will purchase a regular bathtub we will install it for them at a cost of $2800.00.  We will take the walk-in tub away or they can keep it if they wish.

I reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find the resolution is satisfactory to me.  I have no choice, customer service very poor, poor response time. I would like to know also what exactly is included in the life time warranty I believe this too was misrepresented. I have been patient long enough. Before you sell you need to know how to install this correctly, which I feel is a big part of your problem.

RE: Complaint [redacted] in the interest of saving us all time, please refer to my previous answer for additional details.Sally did have a conversation with Mrs. [redacted] about the possibility of getting this complain dismissed, but it did not work out, so the complaint stands.  A few points:At the point of sale neither Mr. or Mrs.  [redacted] mentioned the fact that the Mr. could not bend his legs to be able to sit in an upright position.  They  have insisted that they did, saying that our sales rep. only wanted to make a sale and did not care if they could use the lift or not.  I find this comment very disparaging of my personnel and my company.  It is reasonable that a person would know that they must be able to sit in an upright position, in order to use our stair lift or any stair lift. They allowed the lift to be completely installed.  This installation incurred hard costs to Ohio Build & Remodel which are listed in my previous answer. We only asked that Mr. and Mrs. meet us half way to help reimburse us for our costs. The Mr. and Mrs.speak of their damaged integrity, but I feel it is my company that is being maligned by Mr. and Mrs. [redacted]. At his time I must return to my original offer of:Contractor invoice ($500.00)Stair lift rail ($600.00)Company administration fee ($325.00)Subtracting the above costs which equal $1425.00 from the $3000.00 down payment  would mean that upon acceptance, Ohio Build & remodel will refund $ 1575.00 to Mr. and Mrs. [redacted].  Rich M[redacted]

To state that I did so is patently false. I heard the installers talking among themselves, saying they would have to install the left drain because that is what they brought with them--despite the contract specifically saying right drain shower. I was never consulted about this change. It appears to me that the installers did not read the contract before leaving for my house, since they did not bring the right drain shower called for in the contract and they also were not aware that the contract called for them to replace the float in the toilet until I showed them my copy of the contract. And then, of course, they replaced the flapper instead of the float. I have no explanation for the latter error, and I did not know the difference between the two parts at the time.I have since solved the shower drain problem myself so that I can use the shower. The credit card fee also was never discussed with me and could have been avoided had the company waited a few days for my credit union to approve the home improvement loan for which I applied and soon received. The company has agreed to reimburse me the $29 credit card fee as well as a "reasonable" amount for fixing the toilet properly (which still has not been done). I need a concrete figure, as I have no idea what a reasonable charge might be for the toilet repair. If a payment agreement cannot not reached, I reserve the right to further contest this by filing suit with the Circuit Court of Kanawha County, West Virginia.
