I am rejecting this response because: There was questions on final that was not covered in class nor during reviewsI have the school book and would be very happy to go over the review section with Ohio School Board or Better BusinessThis school is purposely failing a number of students in hope the student would return and spend more money on classIn no way fashion are they preparing students for finalNo review of what I missed, just an email saying I failed a bubble testOnly remedy and solution this school can come up with is for me to spend another $on a classOf course big time money scam with this schoolInstead educating and preparing student to succeed and excel!

The contract signed by the student was with the [redacted] company, and the Ohio School of Phlebotomy was unaware of such a contract or termsIf the student would like to supply this contract, we would be happy to mediate on her behalfThe student had requested previously that we cease any involvement in the hiring process with this company, and we immediately compliedWhen we alerted the company that this student would like to operate separately from the school, they acted independently beyond that point

This school is an absolute waste of money and the school cares much much MUCH more about the 13 pages of contract about how you will pay them than about any legitimate concerns, such as using a webcam and recording the final exams in which an instructor can fail a student based on their own subjective criteria rather than objective criteria. The instructor intended to fail me from the very first class, and while I performed well on all the written materials, after I was completely PAID up the 800 DOLLARS to get the certification I was told that I failed due to keeping a tourniquet on 10 seconds longer than recommended. Having had blood drawn many times in the military I can attest that I have had a tourniquet remain on much longer than the "recommended" time and the way these people determine who passes and who fails is not based on objective analysis, but rather individual bias. These complaints are legitimate. As a former student I can attest that the instructor made rude, vulgar, and inappropriate and unprofessional comments to a room of young impressionable people. This "school" is a disgrace and should be evaluated by an administrative body for the revocation of licensing.

Dear Ms***Our Director is continuing this conversation with you via email currentlyAt Ohio School of Phlebotomy our top priority is safety for the students, patients, and preceptors at the externship sitesAlthough it is rare for a student to fail on the skills component of the program, we do have a commitment to enforcing proper draw procedure and students are not permitted to proceed to externship if they are not ready to draw safetySwitching hands during a draw is an unsafe practice and not consistent with the skills taught and practiced throughout the programSo while we always want to see students succeed, unfortunately we must enforce safe practices as we did during your final assessmentFurther complaints on this matter can be directed to our Director, and if she is unable to resolve the issue, theses matters are adjudicated through the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools on a student complaint basis rather than in a public business forum since we are a regulated educational institution.Regards,Ohio School of Phlebotomy

We're sorry you did not find our offer to review the final exam with you now satisfactory, but as we stated previously, all material on the assessments are covered in the reading material and all refunds are based on the policy established by the stateIf you change your mind and would like to review your final exam alongside the student manual, as was offered by your instructor, Carly, you may still do soPlease feel free to contact us if you wish to take advantage of that offer. We are again disappointed that you would accuse OSP of intentionally failing students; this allegation is serious and completely falseOSP wishes each student success and provides educational resources to assist in the process. We would encourage you to contact the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools if you wish to discuss the regulations that OSP operates underTheir contact information can be found in the OSP School Catalog, your Enrollment Agreement, and the State Disclosure Form you signed on the first dayFor your convenience, we have also provided it here:

Dear Ms. [redacted]Our Director is continuing this conversation with you via email currently. At Ohio School of Phlebotomy our top priority is safety for the students, patients, and preceptors at the externship sites. Although it is rare for a student to fail on the skills component of the program, we do...

have a commitment to enforcing proper draw procedure and students are not permitted to proceed to externship if they are not ready to draw safety. Switching hands during a draw is an unsafe practice and not consistent with the skills taught and practiced throughout the program. So while we always want to see students succeed, unfortunately we must enforce safe practices as we did during your final assessment. Further complaints on this matter can be directed to our Director, and if she is unable to resolve the issue, theses matters are adjudicated through the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools on a student complaint basis rather than in a public business forum since we are a regulated educational institution.Regards,Ohio School of Phlebotomy

Dear Ms. [redacted]
Ohio School of Phlebotomy only determines grades and pass/fail status based on each student’s individual academic progress at the end of the program. We are disappointed to hear such allegations that we intentionally fail a certain percentage of students and would be happy to...

address the source of such an accusation directly. Please provide your documentation or source for this claim. Our curriculum is rigorous and passing grades are only issued to students who show mastery of the material on assessments. The grading system is presented up front to students in the school catalog and syllabus. The content covered in the course, as well as the methods of determining grades in our programs, are approved by the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools, who provide regulation and oversight for our institution.
OSP does everything it can to address the academic needs of students. Unfortunately, when students do not choose to take advantage of the resources provided to them to promote academic success, we cannot intervene further. Here are the efforts we make to assist any student who struggles academically:
Academic probation notices are sent via email to students who score lower than 70% midway through the course, which is the minimum passing grade for the program. These notices offer tutoring at no additional cost and offer the opportunity to drop from the program if the student does not believe they can improve their academic performance sufficiently in order to succeed. You received this email but according to our records did not make any appointments for academic assistance. We can provide a copy of this email to the Revdex.com if necessary. Notices are sent to students who accrue an absence from the program offering to make up content missed and advising on the absence policy. Given the accelerated nature of the program you were enrolled in, each class covers important information and although one absence is allowed, it is discouraged, and is the responsibility of the student to study the provided content (in the book) to compensate for the choice to miss this session. Since the Accelerated Phlebotomy program is fast-paced and covers such a large breadth of information in a shorter time, students are allowed to use notes on the midterm and final exam.  Each question on the midterm and final exam is specifically referenced from a piece of the reading material in the student manual provided. Although the reviews are intended to guide you on key points, all reading material is required for success in the program. This is stated on the syllabus and was made clear to your class, as evidenced by the high passing grades of many of your classmates, on both the midterm and final.
After speaking with your instructor and reading your student file, it appears that help was offered on multiple occasions and you were even given the opportunity to review your midterm since you were absent the day of the question-by-question in-class review. Your feedback on the course during and immediately following your enrollment was positive and it is a surprise to your instructor and the staff that you now believe the school to be anything but supportive of students and a positive learning environment.
We must follow the refund policy established by the Ohio Revised Code and enforced by the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools. Due to these regulations, we will not be able to refund any monies paid for your enrollment. We would encourage you to seek additional education in the field of Phlebotomy either at our institution or elsewhere in order to attain mastery of the material and skills required to achieve a passing grade. We wish you the best in your future academic and professional endeavors.
