I am rejecting this response because: It has been over 3 months and the contractor Ohio town and country I was told to use did not properly diagnose the problem with my exsisting furnace due to the fact that everything that has been installed including the new furnace doesn’t operate to spec. I feel that if Ohio town and Country had done the proper diagnostics my problem would have been resolved months ago. When I had called Ohio town and country and told them the gas company had come out and checked everything his response was “ I don’t know what I can do for you” I have since hired another company to properly repair the mistakes made by Ohio town and Country. I am not an HVAC professional but know enough to know the proper diag was not done by Ohio town and Country not to mention informing me the customer of issues to why the furnace isn’t operating properly was very unprofessional. I did agree to pay the $350 for my furnace to be installed under the impression that it was going to correct my issue which it did not which further backs up my claims of a failure to properly diagnose the issue the first time. I want to be reimbursed the $350 I paid to correct my issue and was never corrected further more the “ professional” leaving my house knowing the furnace isn’t operating correctly ( job not completed )

I am writing in response to [redacted]’s complaint made against me and my company on or about December 15, 2017.  I am an independent HVAC contractor working with [redacted].  [redacted] is the warranty service company Mr. [redacted] is referring to in his...

complaint.  My job is to service a work order and work with the warranty company to satisfy the customer and fix the service problem.  If parts are ordered, those parts are ordered through the warranty company at their expense.  The service provider then installs the parts. On or about October 17, 2017, I received a work order from [redacted] stating that Mr. [redacted] was having a problem with his furnace not working.  I initially serviced this request on October 19, 2017 with a diagnosis of a bad bearing in the vent motor.  I ordered the parts I felt was needed to fix the problem and installed them on the existing furnace.  The furnace was working properly when I left his residence after installation of the parts.  After several recalls to Mr. [redacted]’s residence because of the furnace still not working, and after talking with the warranty company, it was felt that Mr. [redacted] needed a new furnace installed.  The furnace ordered was exactly the same size furnace as the old one (100,000 BTUs and a 4 ton). The local company that Mr. [redacted] called apparently was not advised that the new furnace was the same size as the old and, therefore, would not be too big for the size of his house.  If there was a problem with the return air, as suggested by the local company, it was pre-existing.  The return air would have been installed according to the specifications of the old furnace installation.  The old furnace was installed with different ductwork specifications than the newer furnace needed.  Ductwork modifications and vent work are generally the homeowner’s responsibility and not a covered expense through the warranty company.  Mr. [redacted] agreed to these charges before the furnace was installed.  The old exhaust was 2” and I needed to create a 3”.  I did forget to caulk/seal the exhaust and will be more than happy to do that at Mr. [redacted]’s convenience. The furnace installed was a natural gas furnace which had to be converted to a propane and a different gas pressure level.  I was not able to reach a proper pressure level for the furnace to operate.  Because I could not get the correct pressure, I advised Mr. [redacted] that he needed to contact the gas company to find out why the pressure would not rise.  Service providers offer a courtesy to homeowner’s on installation of HVAC equipment by removing it from the property.  I did take the old furnace and the new parts with me when I finished this job.  The parts belong to the warranty company as they paid for them.   I made several trips to Mr. [redacted]’s residence at his convenience to try to fix his furnace problem.  These trips were not only during the week, but also on the weekend.   The work performed was done in a professional manner and completed except for the caulking and the correct gas pressure.  Mr. [redacted] agreed to pay for the non-covered charges in the amount of $350 and should not be returned to him as the work was performed.  I also feel that the worked performed was above the standard created for HVAC service providers. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.  For your convenience, my email is [redacted] . Very truly yours, William A. A[redacted]

In final response to Mr. [redacted], I reiterate my response of January 1, 2018.  The problem with Mr. [redacted]'s furnace was properly diagnosed.  The comment made by me to him ("I don't know what I can do for you") was due to not being able to bring the pressure level up to where the furnace would operate properly as stated previously.  The pressure problem is between Mr. [redacted] and his gas company. The warranty company and I are not responsible for services done on behalf of Mr. [redacted] through private contractors.  Once again, services were performed for the $350 non-covered expense.  Mr. [redacted] could have cashed out at any time with his warranty company, asked for a different service provider and not used our services.  However, he did not and that was his choice.Any further questions or comments should be directed to Mr. [redacted]'s warranty company.  OTC Services, LLCWilliam A[redacted]
