Complaint June 12th 2013 car had oil change Tech failed to put radiator cap on. Had oil change and tech said I was all set nothing else. Called [redacted] no resultJune 12th brought my car to get oil change like I have the last 15-20 yrs. I bring three different vehicles we own. After I received my oil change the tech said I was all set and nothing else. I drove off. My radiator cap was never put back on as my car over heated and had to be towed. After being checked by a mechanic it was found the cap was not put back on. After getting in touch with [redacted] and he stated that I declined to have coolant top off. This was untrue and they have always topped off my fluids in the past. Desired SettlementI had to have the car tested to make sure that there was not any damage due to overheating. There was a pressure test also 1 gal coolant. A road test was done to make sure it was running right. Wanted to make sure engine was not damaged. I was only looking for [redacted] not counting the tow 20 plus miles to the garage. The [redacted] stated to my husband that he checked out his camera's and he saw in the video that the Tech put the radiator cap back on. This man must have some wonderful state of the art camera's if he saw something that didn't happen. I guess he thinks its worth losing customer for [redacted] I have AAA and was not looking for the cost of the tow.Business' Initial Response Re: Case [redacted]Dear [redacted]In this case, Mrs. [redacted] is seeking reimbursement for losses due to her own failures. On June 12, 2013, [redacted] brought her 2006 NissanAltima to Oil Doctor for an oil change service. At the time of service, the technician told her that her radiator fluid was low and should be topped off at an additional charge of $3 to $12, depending on the amount of anti-freeze that would be required. Ms. [redacted] declined the top-off. A couple of days later, the car overheated. Ms. [redacted] claims she had the car towed and the mechanic at the garage found the radiator cap was off. She also claims that nobody told her the radiator fluid was low.At Oil Doctor, the technician, who did the service, went over her Service Review with her and did explain that her radiator fluid was very low and needed to be topped off. She refused. Upon payment, our cashier again explained the completed service including recommendations. It should be noted that, on her invoice, it clearly states, "Coolant LOW," and also, clearly, under Ticket Notes: "Coolant Low Top-Off Declined."If the radiator cap had been left off at Oil Doctor, by the time she drove down the street it would have been spewing radiator fluid.Upon receiving her complaint, Mr. [redacted] pulled the security videos for that day and time. The bay cameras show the technicians as they work on vehicles. Clearly, the cameras show that the technician working on Mrs. [redacted]'s vehicle did check the radiator fluid and that he did replace the cap. It should be noted that commonly, tow truck drivers who arrive at an overheating vehicle will release the pressure by removing the radiator cap which would explain why later, at the garage, it was already off.Yours truly,[redacted]

Complaint[redacted] for basic oil change and 2 wipers. Wrong weight oil was put in and a more expensive oil was used.Charged $88.66! Questioned and blown off.I took my 2002 [redacted] to Oil Doctor for a basic oil change and 2 front wiper blades on [redacted] It is clearly written on my oil cover 5/30 weight.I told them "just a basic oil change" and "2 front wipers" When I got my bill, the total came to $88.66! They used 10/30 weight oil (wrong weight) and said they used a "synthetic blen of oil" making it more expensive. Total for Oil change $34.99 plus $8.00 for wrong weight and a non-requested expensive oil, Cam2 10W30 Oil SM GF-4.Ticket: XXXXXX; Crew: [redacted] Foolishly, I paid with the [redacted] debit/credit card and told them I would not be returning there for any future service by them.No one should pay $42.99 for any oil change and $18.95 x 2 for 2 winshield wipers.I feel that being a 65 year old female, that I was taken advantage of and charged double of what I should have been charged. I am requesting a refund of $42.99 for the wrong type of oil and the wrong weight of oil. You should know that the girl at the desk questioned the service men in the bay area as to why they used the wrong oil. It was she that picked it up on the bill, otherwise, I would not have noticed. Her question was blown off and the bill stood as it was. She appeared to believe the wrong oil was used and that they should have rectified it. They did not.Desired SettlementI would like a refund of $42.99 for the oil change using the wrong weight oil and a synthetic blend (more expensive) than I had requested. I did not receive the service I asked for and therefore, foolishly paid for a service I was greatly overbilled for.Business Response [redacted]With regards to the oil change for [redacted], as I explained to you, we have done oil changes to this vehicle since 2009. The following is the history:[redacted] - driver requested Cam2 10W30 synthetic blend oil.[redacted] - driver requested Cam 2 10/W30 synthetic blend oil[redacted] - driver requested Cam 2 10/W30 synthetic blend oil[redacted] - [redacted] requested "Same as last time." That was Cam 2 10W30 synthetic blend oil. This is exactly what was done.[redacted] was given and charged for exactly the wiper blades she chose. Our price on the wiper blades is extremely competitive. [redacted]Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I never requested Cam2 10W30 as I don't even know what Cam2 means. I never requested a specific weight of oil. I assumed they would know what was the correct weight as that is their business. I also, on [redacted] did not request "same as last time". I requested "just a regular oil change". In the past, I did request Castrol Oil. On [redacted] I was asked if I wanted the Castrol and I said "no, just regular oil".
