Ojai Valley School

Review: My daughter, [redacted], took part in the summer school operated by the OJAI VALLEY SCHOOL of California from 7 to 20 July of this year. [redacted] has extensively pursued equestrian training in Japan, and one of the reasons we decided on the Ojai Valley School was its equestrian facilities. When I first contacted the school before completing the application, the Ojai equestrian program was already filled, but school staff said activities in the afternoon can include horse riding every day.The Ojai Valley School is expensive, about 400,000 yen for two weeks. But I completed the application because of the opportunity for both riding and ESL study. But I received email on first day (8th July) from my daughter that horseback riding is not possible for a week. I contacted the school immediately. Craig sent an email to me. He said it would be possible for [redacted] to ride starting the next day (9th July). But my daughter did not ride until the next week. My daughter was sad. She sent email to me. I was worried every day. I had originally planned to pick up my daughter at the LA airport, but I changed my plans to go to pick her up directly at the school. This place gave a sense of uncertainty to answering appropriately. I checked in advance many times because there is a plane reservation. I needed to meet with Craig about the summer school and the poor quality of information they provided to me prior to [redacted]'s stay at the summer school. I spoke with Craig at the school on the 20th of July. Craig promised to contact school officials about my request for a refund on July 23 because he decided to talk to the principal about a refund for me. But I have heard from my contact is not coming from him. And I had direct contact with the principal. Then the answer came that they will not refund any part of my money but would be willing to discount the cost of summer school next year.Desired Settlement: I suggested that the school could refund one week's worth of tuition for the week that [redacted] was not able to do any riding at all, but Craig said that the school would only give a discount for summer school next year and would not refund any of the tuition that I paid. I applied to other summer schools for [redacted] and always ask if horseback riding is available every day. We chose the Ojai Valley School this year because they said that horseback riding would be available every day. I made an application to the school assuming Asian acceptance into the riding program but it was only whites. My daughter was the only Asian, but my daughter was excited by what was said at the beginning that there would be a lot of afternoon activities. When [redacted] took part in a riding school in New York two years ago many photos were sent. I could not understand the correspondence of the Ojai Valley School. It is not possible to talk directly because I live in Japan. I have only a little English
