Mr***,As I explained to you previously the warranty on a Hondarepair is months or miles whichever comes firstUnfortunately youhave exceeded the time portion of the warrantyYou stated that yourindependent shop wanted to replace all parts installed years ago by ourdealership but I explained to you that it is likely that only the part leakingwill need to be replaced and urged you to take your vehicle to a certifiedHonda dealership for a diagnosis.Unfortunately vehicles that are over years old withmore than 210,miles do tend to have problems that arise and Iam willing to be reasonable in helping to find a solution but that will takeeffort and compromise on both our ends of the problemRegards, [redacted] Service ManagerHonda of San MarcosIH southSan Marcos, TX78666###-###-####

I am rejecting this response because:Aside from the fact that the vehicle is 13 years old, yourdealership installed the Timing Belt kit, which includes the oil seals. When Icame to the Honda of San Marcos, I accepted Honda Certified Maintenance andthat the work done and the parts used would of that quality. What I am hearingis that because I have an old car neither the work nor the parts matter and becauseof that I will just have to eat the costs of having everything done again. Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
Dear Sir:I understand your request but I have already invested in a diagnostic with Goodyear which informed me that there is an oil leak in the Timing Belt Case. They also said that to access the leak (the seal) they would have to remove all the parts that have to do with the Timing Belt. Meaning, they would have to replace the whole Kit due to warrantee. Coincidentally, the faulty seal is part of the Kit. Upon reviewing my service report from Honda of San Marcos, it concluded that it was replaced when you replaced my Timing Belt. Goodyear priced all parts thought Honda of Concord because that was their supplier. The kit runs around $600.00 and I am unaware of the labor charges. I do see your policy is 12 months or 12,000 miles, I feel that is inadequate regardless of the age of vehicle. But if we want to base it on mileage, I have only accrued 10,000 on my vehicle. This issue could have only started sometime after the Timing Belt Kit was replaced, in the last in the last TWO years , and was only found during an Inspection. I am perfectly aware that my 2002 Honda is 13 years old but I have kept my vehicle in good mechanical condition and went so far as to invest in Honda’s Certified Maintenance at my 200,000 mile check up to ensure that my vehicle would remain in good condition. I stand firm that a part that should last on average 70,000 miles should not fail after 10,000 miles. If the goal of your establishment is customer satisfaction, you have failed. If I can receive something in writing that guarantees me there will be no out of pocket expense in taking my vehicle to Honda of Concord for the diagnostic and for repairs, I would be more than happy to fulfill your request. My experience has been that all communication over the phone with Honda of San Marcos will lead to dissatisfaction as I have been told twice that “nothing can be done”. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.Regards,
