Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: My son was told that this course shows him having a full loan and not recommended any other classes be taken while in this class, he is required to have this class for him to continue and get his Degree in Emergency Medical Sciences? So all the classes for that degree are covered by FASFA but not this required 1st Emt course and certificate? Fasfa also advised me that it is the schools decision to allow a course to be available with FASFA and if OCCC does not than why did we speak face to face with 4-different departments, sign tons of forms, even when over to Financial aid and provided them all the income docs and fasfa approvals and the class he was enrolled in but not a single person said a single word about his FASFA not available for this specific class?? I used days vacation pay to get all this completed we were told to he would have yrs after this class to get his degree but this was a full time course and wasn't recommended he take any other classes with this specific course.??My son and I both signed tons of forms and I provided my tax returns and we both signed those papers in the financial aid office but now no one is able to discuss his enrollment for financial aid with me but you want me to be responsible for paying for his education but no one can discuss it with me?? Sincerely, [redacted]

Ms***,Students are very important to us and we regret your son experienced difficulty in navigating the College systemThe Certificate of Emergency Medical Technician is not a Title IV Federal Student Aid eligible program of studyTherefore, the College cannot award Federal Student Aid
(grants/loans) to students who are only enrolled in the EMS-Emergency Medical Technology course in pursuit of the Certificate of Emergency Medical TechnicianThe Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of (FERPA) requires students sign an Authorization to Release for the College to share information with othersThe form is available at: http://www.occc.edu/records/forms.html. Once the signed form is on file, the Director of Financial Aid will be able to speak with you about your son's financial aidThank you
