Oklahoma Natural Gas Reviews (%countItem)

My initial experience with Oklahoma Natural Gas was an uneventful one, until it came time to the conclusion of my service.
- When it came time for the scheduling service shut-off, the ONG employee was apparently unable to find the unlocked door to the shut-off location of my apartment complex. Instead of alerting me to these events, ONG instead decided to keep charging my account.
- ONG also refused to return my deposit, citing that my service hadn't been active for a year (although my account had been active for about 13 months).
- A few months and a half-dozen phone calls later, I received no response from my most recent email, and the supervisor that was scheduled to call me, failed to do so.
Ultimately, suspect business practices, poor communication, and sub-par customer service has made for a negative experience. Hopefully these kind of issues can be improved upon in the future.

The March 11, 2019 regular bill showed the customer's deposit being applied to the bill, leaving a credit balance to be used on the next bill. A turn off order was worked March 14, 2019 per the customer's request, but the technician could not gain access to the meter, which is located in a locked basement. This caused the account to remain active. An order to final the account was completed April 17, 2019. On April 29, 2019, the billing was adjusted to reflect a final date of March 14, 2019. The remaining amount from the deposit was applied to the final bill, leaving a small credit balance. A refund check was mailed May 14, 2019 to the forwarding address provided by the customer. The customer can view the adjusted billing by accessing his online account, or we will be happy to send him duplicate bills.

Stealing money from my checking account, when it's not owed them.
On 5/14/19 Oklahoma natural gas was paid 300. Then on 5/29/19 they took 63.82 more. When I called them they told me their accounting system doesn't allow for this, and that no refund will be made. I'll just have to live without $300 cause the service rep say so. Who oversees this utility? My account should have automatically known I owed them nothing, but no, not in Oklahoma. I feel violated and robbed by this utility.

Desired Outcome

I want my 300 dollar credit back. They could do this again next month and tell me oh well.

Oklahoma Natural Gas Response • May 31, 2019

We made contact with the customer and discussed his concerns. A refund is in process for the $300.00 and we assured that the issues mentioned will be addressed promptly.

Today I called to transfer service to a new company. A man named *** was impatient with me and raised his voice when I did not understand what he was needing as far as information. He was rude and disinterested in doing his job, helping me with my request. This is the first time I have had issues with ONG and as a business owner, I believe this type of service and treatment is shameful. ONG should be more aware of who they hire as they work for Oklahoma to provide an necessary service. Also, Tulsa is a small city and word gets around quickly as I am part of a large social circle and witness this daily. As a major local company, ONG needs to be aware of this.

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) I would like *** to be notified that he must change his tone or get a job that doesn't require interacting with people. I have NEVER complained on this site or any in my life. I felt I was treated so poorly that action was required.

We have attempted to make contact with the customer to discuss her concerns; however, we have been unable to make contact. We have addressed the issues mentioned internally and would be happy to discuss this case with the customer.

My gas was cut off due to their claim of not sending my ID's in for verification 35 days after my service was set up.
My gas was cut off due to their claim of not sending my ID's in for verification 35 days after my service was set up. I received no information on this no call no email no letter. The day the service was cut is the day I did receive a letter stating I had 5 days to submit this information but the gas was already cut off. This was cut on a friday leaving me throughout the weekend with kids and 9 months pregnant with no stove, no heat and no warm water. This was not even due to non payment!
They told me nobody could come out until Monday. Monday comes and the technician calls to tell me he will be there in 5-10 minutes. I confirm we are at home waiting and 45 minutes goes by and I call and customer service says he claims he went out there and knocked and rang the bell and nobody answered. He is lying. we were there waiting as we have waited all weekend for this. We now lose 2 days of wages having to wait on ONG and their terrible customer service and practices. They dont care because they monopolize the whole network and as soon as there is an opening to switch companies or use a different source for hot water and the stove I will be the first to do so

Desired Outcome

I would like reimbursement on my lost wages, i would like a discount on the bill and I would like an apology for their terrible customer service practices.

Oklahoma Natural Gas Response • Apr 30, 2019

The customer called for service initiation on 3/12/19. At this time, she was advised two forms of ID would need to be faxed or e-mailed for verification of identity. An email address was provided to send the required documents. On 4/18/19, a letter was mailed to the customer advising we had not received proof of identity and that service would be disconnected if not received. When the required documents were not received, the service was interrupted 4/26/19.

The customer provided adequate proof of identity after the service was interrupted and an order was scheduled to reconnect service on the next available date of 4/29/19.

Our records indicate that there was no answer at the door when the technician arrived at the customer's residence on 04/29, and a card was left advising the customer to call to schedule a new order. The account was billed a trip charge for the missed appointment.

As a courtesy, when the customer called for the reschedule, the trip charge was waived. The order was scheduled for the next available date of 4/30/19.

im retired on ss , I moved to my fathers home which is in trust, he had an account number 211...... with a balance at his death of 144. he was destitute and died in nursing home with zero estate, ive paid my bills on my acct 213.... on time, I get food stamps minimal, but dhs sent me a card saying I was eligible for liheap I filled it out and was awarded by the good people of okla which I am extremely thankful for, 165 ong comitted fraud, as the law states I am NOT RESPONSIBLE for my deceased parents debts. ong took it upon themselves to roll my fathers balance to my account, then took the 165!! after hours of discussion with ong even explaining that is fraud, the "billing office" was supposed to call. NOTTT, I even have the award letter from liheap saying the money was fr me and my acct. not my fathers, I cant find any contact info for the exec offices. so, I asked dhs to ask for the money back! I and the good citizens of okla should not be parties to obvious fraud, they will turn my gas off but im NOT A THIEF

Customer Response • Feb 11, 2019

I went through hell, but yes, ong succumbed, it is settled

Called to turn gas on, had gas leak that company was responsible for. Now being charged "gas usage" for a period where there was no gas to the house.
Had lived in residence, but moved out of state. House was for sale with offer, needed to turn gas back on for inspection. Gas company claimed they could not turn gas on due to a gas leak near meter box and that box would need to be replaced beforehand. They said this was their responsibility. Took from 11/8/18 until 11/20/18 to have problem fixed so gas could be turned on. (Box had to be inspected, once inspected they said it was done wrong, had to be redone and reinspected before finally turned back on). Now we have been sent a 'final' bill for over $275 due to being charged for gas usage during a time when the gas was not on. Called to dispute the charge and now they're claiming the gas was on the entire time, theres a connect fee that is DOUBLE what they said it would be, and that there were two "final" bills for our account. They are absolutely refusing to waive the charges for a time when the gas was not even turned on because they claim there was usage starting on the 8th (and 5th depending on which rep we speak too) and that the box per their records was replaced on the 12th, 15th, and 20th (have called to dispute charges many times). They also are claim we owe two service fees of $29. Our contract says service fee is per every 31 day billing cycle, but our account was only active from 11/08/18-12/06/18. They are refusing to wave the second service fee despite the billing cycle being less that one full cyle. So in a summary, they refused to turn the gas on due to a malfunction on their end and are overcharging us with fraudulent charges.

Desired Outcome

Bill refunded from this monopoly.

Customer has contacted us and the issue has been addressed.

Oklahoma natural gas is going to turn my gas off on dec 20 because of non payment.I made arrangements back in Sept to auto pay out of my bank on the 3rd of every month but they didnt take it out.For some stupid reason they didnt do it.I gave them all my banking info so they could do it.The amount was $322 and it was in my account but now they are telling me it has to be taken out on their date.Just an excuse!!!So now I have a bill for 450 and suppose to pay half of by the 20th or they are turning me off.I live on a fixed income and pay all my bills on the 1rst and 3rd of every month.I made the arrangments to be paid then but they say they have to take it out on their due date.So now on Dec 20th I will have no gas and I will freeze to death and not be able to eat. They are liars and not to be trusted to make arrangments.I feel totaly not to trust them ever again.Hope I dont freeze to death but probably will. Thanks ONG ***

Billing Adjustment To pay my bill jan 3rd 2019.

Oklahoma Natural Gas Response • Dec 20, 2018

Attempts to contact the customer to discuss her concerns have been unsuccessful. While we do not want to report the specific financial aspects of the customer's gas service account we can advise the following:

The customer enrolled in our Automatic Bank Draft in September of this year and her October bill did indicate that the balance would be drafted from her account. The Automatic Bank Draft will draft the balance due on the due date of the bill each month, and that date cannot be changed. If payment arrangements are made on an account that is set up on Automatic Bank Draft and a payment must be made on a date other than the due date, that payment will need to be made separately.

If the customer feels that the Automatic Bank Draft program will not suit her needs because she needs the payment drafted on a different date, there are other payment options available. The customer can call each month and process her payment on the date she desires at no charge, or she can pay with a credit or debit card at a nominal fee - this fee is charged by the third-party vendor that processes the card payments and not by Oklahoma Natural Gas.

The customer will need to contact us to discuss the specifics of her account. She can call our customer service number at ***. I have noted the account with a request to transfer her call to me so we can work together to resolve her concerns.

I just closed on my new house and called to get utilities set up. When I called ONG, they said it would take them 6 more days to come to the house and turn one valve with a wrench to start my service. Normally I wouldn't be upset with a wait period like this but there is a freeze and winter storm warning that is supposed to happen during this 6 day wait period and I have small children and pets that are going to have to live in a house with no heat during these dangerously low temperatures. When asked if I could please have emergency service, I was told they don't offer emergency service except to cut off gas. I asked what the difference is in the emergency service between turning the gas valve one way to turn it off versus turning that same valve the other way to turn the gas on. Again, all I got told was ONG doesn't consider my situation, having small children and pets in a house with no heat during freezing temperatures and a winter storm, an emergency.

It appears that we had some difficulty reaching the customer by phone on September 12, 2018, so the service could not be turned on. The service was successfully turned on September 13, 2018.

I currently live in AZ my monthly gas bills this month of July was $16.32 and I cook everyday 4-5 times a day because we do not eat out. We have gas heating and during winter times our gas is around $45-55 dollars a month. Well I just bought a second home in OKC and has been empty for 1 month now. Guess what?! my monthly bill was $75 dollars! $34.12 will be charged to our account regardless if we use gas or not! how people survive in OKC? making a misery in monthly salary lower than many many other states in USA with the highest Utility Bills I have seen in my live and I have lived in like 8 different states so far! How People in OKlahoma are not outrage that they are paying $410 a year just to have a person come read a meter every month?! has this company lost their minds? No wondering why so many people have their own gas tanks in their backyards. This company should be ashamed of themselves. I wish I could give a -5 start review.

I apologize for your frustration. I would be happy to change you to Plan A which has the lower Customer Charge. If you decide to do this I would be willing to adjust your first statement to reflect this plan as well. I would like the opportunity to discuss the plans available and any adjustment we can offer if you decide to change plans. Please call Customer Service at and they will transfer you to my direct line. I look forward to discussing this matter further.

Told ONG to turn on service only if our A/C unit uses natural gas. They told me it does and turned it on. Come to find out it does not. Service fees
I purchased a house at *** about a month ago. I reached out to ONG upon purchase. Told them to turn on gas service only if our A/C unit uses their natural gas. They said it did use their gas, so they initiated service. They charged a turn on fee and monthly service fee. Come to find out it does not use natural gas since there was no usage and we ran the A/C all month. They're trying to charge us $70.73 when we didn't use any of their services and they lied about our unit even using their natural gas. We reached out to them on two separate occasions to waive the fee since they lied to us and also didn't provide any services to us, but they have denied our request and have been very rude. I would not recommend this company to anyone. We are not going to pay when they did not provide any service to us and lied. They need to remove the $70.73 charge to our account. Our meter number is: ***. Our account number is: ***.

Desired Outcome

They need to remove the $70.73 charge on our account. Our meter number is: ***. Our account number is: ***.

Oklahoma Natural Gas Response • Jun 26, 2018

A representative spoke with the customer yesterday and agreed to remove the monthly charges billed since the service was placed in the customer's name. The adjustment will take place when the turn off order is completed. As further a courtesy, we will also remove the $35 service initiation charge - it can be billed when the service is turned back on for the customer.

There is a monthly service charge that is billed each billing period that an account is active. During the non-heating season, the customer may opt to have the service turned off. However, the customer needs to be aware that if the service is off for less than six billing periods, a temporary disconnect charge will be billed that is the equivalent of the monthly service charge for each of the billing periods that the service was off. If the service is off for more than six billing periods, only the standard $35 service initiation charge will apply.

If the customer has any further questions, he can call our office at (800) 664-5463 and we will be glad to be of assistance.

Customer Response • Jun 27, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
As long as they waive the FULL charge I will accept. We had ONG disconnect service as soon as we found all of this information out, which was 6/25/2018. Thank you Revdex.com for your time and help!

They are trying to collect on a past bill from 2014 that I am sure I paid. They only have tried to contact me after my house and all my files burned.
The company turned the gas off in McCurtain in 2014 because of a "leak" on their line. They had to go out and inspect all houses before they would return service. I had pets that are in the house so they would not return service to my house. After talking with the main office they said they were unaware of this but we needed it checked before service would be returned. I said to discontinue my service. They sent a final bill which I remember paying. My trailer burnt then in April of 2018. A few days later the company came and removed to meter which had been left there since 2014. Then I received 2 bills telling me to pay my final bill only after it seems someone reported my trailer was destroyed. If I had not paid in 2014, I should have received a notice from a collection agency or phone calls.

Desired Outcome

To not be contacted and this "final bill" to be forgotten, no mark on my credit and no further attempts be made to collect since I no long do business with this company.

I looked at my phone and only had 3 missed calls, all different numbers and none matched the person responding to this phone number they provided. I will try to call that number to see if I can find out why I am still being billed.

Customer Response • Jun 21, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Said the meter was pulled due to it being inactive for over 100 days. Bill was a mistake generated by a computer and will not be expected to be paid. All has been seen to and no other response from the business will be sent to collect any money.

The lady that answers the number could use a lesson on being polite from some of my third graders. The gas company came by my house at 4:00 pm on April 17th and disconnected my gas due to an apparent gas leak. Because they knocked on the door and nobody answered they put my house down as "appearing vacant". Well most people with jobs are still at work at 4:00 pm. They also noted that the number on file was disconnected. That is funny because there were a total of three numbers on their file and they chose to only bother trying to contact one of them. While talking to customer service I was told me that they cannot do the work and turn my gas back on until April 27th.....10 DAYS without hot water. So clearly I was frustrated. I was given the number above in which the most insensitive, rude, unprofessional woman answered the phone and basically told me that if I did not like it then I just need to pay for the work myself and that my attitude was not helping. I wonder what her reaction would have been had she been told that she would not have hot water for almost two weeks and that her house was deemed vacant because she was not there to answer the door when they knocked. She also argued with me about not having a working number. Ignorance at its finest! I have no idea how this lady landed a customer service job.

ONG made an unauthorized withdrawal from my checking account on Feb 27 2018 of 125.00. I pay my ONG payments online but never allowed an automatic withdrawal. I contacted them and they placed the blame on me saying that I may have accidentally signed up. Now I have zero trust in ONG having my banking information. In their email they wrote that they don't do automatic withdrawals without a written consent form. I have never seen a consent form so evidently the will take money from an account without a signed consent form. This is a terrible business practice. Customers need to be very careful turning over their banking information to this company because you never know when they might dip into your checking account and give you a surprise. If someone can accidentally sign up for automatic payment their website needs to be changed so that can't happen.Of course the first thing that they do is blame the customer. Our society seems to be backwards these days when the Big Corporations are never wrong.

ONG charges "fees" that are outstanding but we have no other choice besides go with no gas. Which is what I chose. Extremely rude inpatient workers who expects you to schedule your life around their schedules. Almost hit my dog with a long pole as well. Unprofessional and greedy.

Oklahoma Natural Gas Response • Feb 02, 2018

We regret that your recent experiences with Oklahoma Natural Gas did not meet your expectations. Oklahoma Natural Gas is a regulated utility and is required to follow certain tariffs and utility regulations. One of these regulations requires that our customers pay for services rendered. When payment is not received, those services must be terminated. In addition, Oklahoma Natural Gas is required to render gas service inoperable when safety concerns are discovered. Service can be reconnected when the outstanding balance and security deposit are paid.

Failed to provide service that's paid for still no gas on after 2 days
They failed to provide the service I pay for. There staff is rude and racest. If your not white forget talking to them

Desired Outcome

What my gas back on.

Oklahoma Natural Gas Response • Jan 31, 2018

Our records indicate that disconnect notices were mailed December 30, 2017 and January 4, 2018 warning of service interruption scheduled on or after January 11, 2018. No payment was received and there was no response from the customer. The service was interrupted January 21, 2018.

The customer processed a payment on January 25, 2018 and an order to reconnect the service was scheduled for January 26, 2018. The service was reconnected January 26, 2018 at 7:40pm.

Old bill not mine or anyone related to me placed on my account.
Approximately 3 months ago I moved into a new house in Sapulpa OK and invited a friend to come stay with me who had lost her job, and who is separated from her husband and had no one who could assist her or pay her bills. I as a good friend invited her to come stay with me temporarily until she got back on her feet. Shortly thereafter I received a gas bill, and then a second gas bill. around $100 for each of those or for $200 total. I then received notification that I had a $210 outstanding bill that was placed on my account. I have never had an ONG bill before, but I always like taking care of my bills and paying things when I'm supposed to. So I paid the $300 bill that they say I owed. And called to question those charges. At that time I spoke with someone who informed me that it was a bill for the person that was living with me that was outstanding and they can just place it on my account. This person is not someone I'm dating, not someone I'm married to, not someone I'm engaged to, simply just a friend who I was helping out.

I do not think it is legal or ethical to be able to just put someone elses bill on my account because that affects my credit. If I refuse to pay the bill, then they will send my account to collections for a bill that was never tied to my social to begin with. That would be similar to me having a credit card with Bank of America, and she has a credit card with Bank of America, but since we have the same address they take her old balance that she didn't pay and transfer it to my credit card, simply because she is living at the same address and "benefiting from the service". If I want to allow a friend to stay with me, that I have that right, and there should not be any way that a company regardless of if they monopolize the service in that area can legally transfer someone elses bill under their social to my social. That practice is completely illegal, unethical and not abiding by the FCRA.

Desired Outcome

If ONG thinks it is ok to transfer that bill to my account, I them to credit me the amount of that old bill $220 roughly, and leave that as a credit on the account. As I refuse to pay for someone elses bill that I have no affiliation with only that they are living in the same address as me. If there should be no contact by ONG and no effort to resolve the issues, I will be in contact with litigation as I have spoken to several people who have experienced similar unethical practices by ONG where old accounts were transferred, and where they were charged for things that they did not authorize. Our country does have monopoly laws in place that are meant to prevent situations like this from ever happening, and no company should be able to hold your service "hostage" basically until you pay an old bill that was never at an address you lived at or with someone that you have no legal affiliation with. That practice is completely unethical and in my opinion illegal.

Oklahoma Natural Gas Response

Research indicates that the customer's roommate has an affiliation to the current address. Due to the affiliation, the outstanding balance can be transferred to the address so that payment can be made.

I scheduled an appointment for today. I had to leave work to be home to enable the turning on of services. I spoke to customer service twice. They assured me a red would be there to reinstate services. As of 7:48pm still no services. Keep in mind if you miss your appointment your charged 25.00. Well I missed work 5 1/2 hours work still no services. I feel they owe me 91.00 in lost sages.. No phone telling me the two couldn't make the appointment. Very rude and disrespectful. Totally uncalled actions on ONG.

Oklahoma Natural Gas Response

The customer requested a service order to be worked on September 5 and it was scheduled for after 1 PM. A PM order is generally worked any time after one, and can run on into the evening hours if the work load is heavy. In this instance, the customer's order was completed that evening.

Customer Response

The order was actually performed at 9:30pm that evening. Rather late to be doing an Afternoon service call. Very disrespectful to their customers. OMG doesn't appreciate their customers by doing that late of a service order.

Oklahoma Natural Gas Response

Please accept our sincere apology for the late hour, this is not typical. We hope your future experiences with Oklahoma Natural Gas (ONG) prove to be more positive.
