Review: received pair of duckhead sandals, slides with crossing straps in front, that fell apart on the first time worn: straps broke and also pulled out of the soft sole. ( I have others that last)Desired Settlement: kindly contact me with exchange or replacement options

Business

Response:

We spoke with the consumer by telephone today after several unsuccessful prior attempts to reach via telephone. The shoes in question were manufactured in November, 2005, almost 10 years ago. The consumer had no receipt, box, nor could she recall where the shoes were purchased. She indicated they may have been a gift. The shoes are so old that the stock number provided does not come up in our system, and additionally we have not manufactured Duck Head branded footwear for 3 years. Since we do not offer a lifetime warranty, nor carry this brand, we were not able to replace the shoes.

Review: I bought a pair of shoes with a "100% Quality Guarantee." After two years, the soles cracked in half (picture available) and my shoemaker tells me they can't be repaired. I have tried to get satisfaction from the company, without success.Desired Settlement: Apparently the shoes I bought, then called 'Jasper' are (or a substantially identical model) on their web site now called 'Marco.' [h[redacted]] I take a 7 1/2 or 8 (the Jaspers were 8's.) I would like the company to honor their guarantee and replace the shoes.

Response:

We no longer manufacture Duckhead footwear, have not since 2010 and have not sold any since 9/2011. Any returns would have to be done through the place of purchase. We would then work with that retailer within their return policy.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Per the manufacturer's advice, I have contacted the retailer ([redacted] Trading Post). Given the time since the sale, they said all they could do would be refer me to the manufacturer. That, of course, would be circular and useless. I am still aggrieved by having bought disposable shoes, despite there still being a Duckhead website, promising 100% satisfaction guaranteed.

Even though Old Dominion may not market under that brand, they are still in business, and should stand behind their product. Other companies, for instance [redacted] and [redacted], do offer lifetime guarantees — and honor them!

Regards,
