Old Firehouse Winery, Inc. Reviews (1)

(The following was copy/paste by Revdex.com staff - LST)[redacted]Friday, July 21, 201 Revdex.com, Inc.2800 Euclid Ave, 4th FloorCleveland, OH 44115-2408216-241-7678 FAX: 216-861-6365 RE: ID # [redacted]Via Fax [redacted]Dear [redacted]: I am in receipt of the following...

letter of 7/9/2017 regarding [redacted].  I apologize for the delay in responding, but I wanted to get the full story from the staff and read the police report from the police officer who was involved. In a nutshell, Mr [redacted]'s mom was lucky she wasn't arrested for assault for throwing a tray at our server.  I will elaborate on this.Mr. [redacted] and his mom's original complaint to the server was when the server asked to collect the bill prior to the completion of their beverages and snack.  We do that on July 4th about 20 minutes before the fireworks show.  Three years ago, we had nearly $900 in walk outs when the show started.  The guests left to watch the fireworks and never came back to pay their tabs. Therefore, we've had the policy to collect the bill 30 to 15 minutes before the show.  We had a crowd of nearly 300 on the patio when this incident occurred and all paid their bills before the show started without incident. When Mr. [redacted] refused to pay the server, the kitchen manager was summoned. Understandably, a manger is most defensive of a server when they assume someone is "refusing" to pay a bill and disrespects a server. When Mike, the manager came to the table, they then complained that their nacho appetizer was not satisfactory.Mike had another appetzier made for them, but at this time the mother was very belligerent and threw the tray towards the server.  No one was hit by the trayt.Mr. [redacted] then said "he wasn't paying the bill- you ruined my mom's birthday." The police were called, which we rarely do unless there is a threat to safety of the public or staff and/or a refusal to pay the bill. The wine tasting trays and the "Pink Smash" were on the bill.  The tasting trays were consumed, as was most of the nachos.  The "Pink Smash" was removed from the bill.  Mr. [redacted] did contact us through Yelp and demanded a refund for the REST of the bill, as he said, and I paraphrase, he only paid it because the police ordered him to.Not only was Mr. [redacted] and his mother removed from the property by the police, he is now on our list of former guests who have earned a permanent ban from the properties.  Should he or his mother return on the premises they will be charged with trespass. While I was not at the winery during the incident, this letter is based not only on the statements from our staff, but also on the police report filed by the officer who responded.Thank you for allowing our side of the story to be heard.Sincerely,Don [redacted], Sales Director
