I would like to respond with a couple pointsFirst, the acquaintance that provided the filler and epoxy work to the roof and is liable for the work done to the customers car has since closed his shop and moved to another state and can no longer be reached despite any attempts made on my part.Second, the cost to do the filler and epoxy work for my shop was $700.00dollars the customer chose to use the other shop at the lower priceMy labor which included removing interior, side windows (which had to be replaced due to the customer switching to a non-vinyl top), stripping the roof and repairing the rust in multiple spots, removing all studs from the old vinyl top, and raising several hail damaged spots I only charged $My business took a loss of $at the point of completionThe shop that completed the body work to the car killed the battery that I found to be years old, not new as customer had stated, and I had replaced it because it had somewhat been workingThe battery had a bad cell and went dead after sittingWith the new battery and three weeks of sitting the car would start right upThis added another $loss.Third, the original agreement was that the customer would remove the interior of the whole vehicle prior to bringing the car to the shopThe customer did not remove it adding to the cost of laborWhen it came time to replace the interior the customer offered me $to replace itAt that time the hourly labor rate for my shop was $I decided to not accept his offer because it was less then I would charge to complete the job.As a business that is very small and only years old I will readily admit that I severely underbid this job (I was in the negative for $190.00, plus materials and labor)But the job was completedThe Shop operates by hourly rates onlyIf the issue of disrepair was the fault of my shop I would understand, but as stated previously another shop completed the workI would also like to mention that the customer was at no time disrespectful or difficult to deal with at anytimeIf the customer would like to have the disrepair fixed that is due to another shop, I will gladly fix it at our hourly rate of $plus materials.Old Line Speed Shop
