Dear Revdex.com, I am responding to the letter recieved regarding mr and mrs. [redacted] on their ford mustang. first off, I like them. very nice people. mr [redacted] looks like a hard working humble person. in aspect to their ford mustang on the paint. I did tell them they had warranty for our work....
they brought me the mustang about 2 months ago regarding some areas of the paint cracking. I acknowleged and definletly seen it. unfortunelty the customer had done 95% of the body work on his car. he said he just wanted us to spray it. when we recieved it I told him it looked pretty good for him doing it at his home. my body guys starting going thru it and found a few areas that either needed smoothed out or blocked out. I addressed those areas and we both agreed on a price to finish the car. 2 years later it comes back because of cracking in couple different areas. for my shop to fix something like this and guarrantee the whole car from cracking or flaking agian, id have to take off all the body filler and material on the car. now, their are body fillers cheaper then others and I dont know what materials or how much time he allowed for body filler to dry before applying more, but I know what we used and procedure to let dry and cure. their is definitly more body filler on this car then my standard paint jobs. the cracking on the paint was definaltly caused by material behind the paint and since we didnt do 100% of the body and prepp work we cannot control the quality over something we didnt do. I feel bad for the situation, the santiagos are nice people, if I could just touch up those areas and guarantee the work, id fix it. but as a professional I know that wont work. and we dont do temporary fixes. I do care for a good rating from Revdex.com, and like you said their are 2 sides to a story. I felt that I was honest and fair in our decision.
