Old School Auto Body Reviews (1)

Review: On Nov. 28, 2012 an inspector with Allstate Insurance inspected the orange 2002 Nissan Altima & the Red 2009 Nissan Altima. The following day both cars

were taken to Old School Auto Body at 709 E. Haley St. Santa Barbara, CA 93103. Gregory Madrigal, the shop’s owner took possession of both vehicles at that time. The owner informed us that both vehicles would be ready in 30 days; in return we provided the owner with the 2 checks issued by Allstate Insurance to Old School Auto Body & the vehicle’s owner for the repair of the vehicles. Check number 485923, issued/dated 11/28/2012 in the amount of $4,859.23 for the repairs of the 2009

Nissan Altima & check number 328197, also dated /issued 11/28/2012 in the amount of $3,281.97 for the 2002 Nissan Altima both checks totaling $8,141.20

We returned about 30 days later to pick up the vehicles; at about the end of Dec or the beginning of Jan. To our surprise both vehicles were still in the same

condition they were dropped off in. We asked the owner what had happened & why the vehicles were not ready when he told us they would be ready. The owner

informed us that he needed more time & asked for 30 additional days; possibly less. Sometime after we had dropped off the vehicles at the end of Nov., we were informed by acquaintances that the owner was using the Red 2009 Nissan Altima for his own personal use. We asked the owner about the allegation

& he replied that “he can use whichever vehicle is in his shop at the time”. I informed him that he was not allowed to do that & that we had not & were not giving him permission to do that. We filed a police report with the Santa Barbara Police Department.

On 2/22/2013 we returned to Old School Auto Body to see if the vehicles were ready; The owner became upset & drove both vehicles out of the shop & returned the keys & said that he was not going to work on the vehicles anymore. We saw that nothing had been done on the 2002 Nissan Altima & that very little work had been done on the 2009 Nissan Altima; the front headlights had been removed & were placed in the back seats & there was dog hair all over the back seats; the owner of the Altima does not have any pets; confirming that the owner had been using the 2009 Nissan Altima for his personal use while he had possession of them & it had

minimal body work done. When the vehicles were returned, we asked the owner to return the checks that had been provided to him for the work on the cars; he

informed us that he had already cashed both checks & did not have any money left to work on the vehicles. We were very upset & informed the owner that we were going to file a police report & report him to the “BAR”, Bureau of Automotive Repair. In response the owner replied “good luck getting your money back”.

Recently the consumer contacted us in response tp the last conversation we had; that we were going to file a police report & report him to the Bureau of Automotive

Repair. He asked for a second chance to work on & complete the 2009 Nissan Altima & that he would return the full amount that was provided to him to fix the 2002 Nissan Altima & that he would return the full amount that was provided to him to fix the 2002 Altima & that he would return the full amount that was provided to him to fix the 2002 Nissan Altima, $3,281.97, but that he needed 2 weeks to return the money. We agreed & that he would return the money. We agreed & the 2009 Altima was taken back to Old School Auto Body on Tuesday 3/26/2013 & he was given until Friday April 5 to complete the work on the 2009 Nissan Altima & to return the money that was paid to him for the 2002 Nissan Altima.

Desired Settlement: My car, fix ASAP or my money back, so I can fix my car.
