everybody I know has had checks declinedits very embarrassing and then when you call they either cant give you a reason why but will say their machine read the account number wrong*** *** will decline at least to a year of ours for no reasonwho are they to tell us whether we can write a check or not? at least some gas stations still take your check the old way by checking to see if they have had a bad check on youif they have then they have the right to decline your check

Embarassment aside, my family was forced to go home without groceries because of this company. I have good credit, no history of writing bad checks, nor does my employer and I cannot think of any reason why I couldn't cash my checks and feed my family. Needless to say, I will not ever set foot in Walmart again, nor will I gove a red cent of my money to any company that uses Certegy. I will do everything that I can to make surethat none of my friends , or family, ever does either.

I received two checks from the Texas State Comptroller for money owed to me related to unclaimed property. I tried to cash the checks at my local Walmart but was declined for unspecified reasons. Thinking through the transaction later it occurred to me that perhaps I entered my social security number wrong because I wasn't wearing my reading glass so I returned to the store and tried again; this time the check was cashed with no problem.

Unfortunately I forgot the second check at home and when I went back a couple days later to cash it, I was declined again. I called the number given to me by Walmart personnel and was informed via a recording that no specific reason could be provided. Even if I had written a check that was returned for NSF, which I had not, I wasn't even trying to cash a check written from my own account. It's ridiculous that a GOVERNMENT issued check was declined for no reason.

Having since done online research, it's apparent that Certegy uses a mysterious algorithm based on little to no facts when determining which checks to accept and which to decline and this, combined with 83% negative reviews filed with the Revdex.com, makes it extremely difficult to understand how this company has an A+ rating.

I wrote a chek at my local Publix grocery store like I always do, and the Cashier informed me it was declined. Being that this is the ONLY place I write checks to, and knowing nothing had been returned, I was mortified, and sitting there with a hundred bucks of groceries. Now I was "That Guy". You know, the one holding up the checkout line, looking like a criminal, putting stuff back to get the total down to what I had in cash. I called the number on the receipt to enjoy a fine conversation with a computer only to be told there was no record of a declined transaction that had occoured just minutes ago. After holding for a Human, and giving the information again, She told me the same thing guessing the terminal malfunctioned. The biggets kicker was that she sugested if it happened again, I should consider a different form of payment. Nothing would make me happier to hear that the lack of demand from retailers of check verification has forced these guys to close their doors. These guys already have paid out 3.5 million dollars to the FTC for FCRA violation. Maybe they will send me a box of Tangerines I had to put back.

I went to Ameristar and use their check cashing system. I took out (1) $200 and (1) $100. This was on a Saturday. Monday, the $200 was deducted from my checking account. Tuesday, another $200 and a $100 was deducted. I notified Ameristar, told me to check with my bank. Bank credit back the $200 to my account. I could not cash a check. Thursday, same week, spoke to two Ameristar ladies. They review my account and their report. The other $200 could not be located on their report nor on my account. I called Certegy at the Ameristar location. The Supervisor and I spoke to the Man at Certegy. The guy told me to close my account and get another one and this issue is resolved. This was in August 2014. A year later, my check got declined. A lady at Certegy told me I owe $200 from Ameristar. I told her it was resolved and the Supervisor at Ameristar spoke to the guy etc. She tells me there is no history that I ever spoke to anyone at Certegy. I told the two ladies at Ameristar, they both were shocked. All my bills are current. If they review my credit history, they will see how much money I pay to my creditors, ON TIME. I will not pay this $200 I don't owe. I am a responsible person when it comes to paying my debts. The two ladies still work at the Ameristar Casino at Vicksburg, Ms.If they don't have any history of my phone calls and the Ameristar lady they spoke to. What does this tell you? You need to record the phone calls to Certegy to have evidence. Regardless, I am not paying $200 I don't owe. I know how much I took out. All they had to do is talk to the two ladies at Ameristar, they will vouch, the extra $200 was not found on their report nor on their system.
