aftercare instructions that were verbally gone over with her. I'm not sure what she exposed the tattoo too or how she infected it. I have been in business since 2008 and and this is my first complaint. I am inspected by the health dept. and receive stellar reviews. It's unfortunate she chose not to accept responsibility for her not properly caring for the tattoo. She is entitled to no refund of any kind nor am I willing to ever tattoo her again. Ever. I work hard to to a great job at a fair price. I reject her complaint and any remedy she request.  Perhaps she should pay more attention to her personal hygiene! End of story!

Review: Over a week ago, I got a tattoo from [redacted] who runs and owns Old Skool Ink in Yreka, California. Right after he was done with it, put a petroleum like product on the finished tat, then wrapped it with plastic wrap. When I got home, I noticed that my left forearm had swollen up right after he was done. I also have a witness that saw Mr. [redacted] work on my tat. She also took pictures of it as it progessed to the even uglier stage. The petroleum like product is called aquaphor. he told me to put it on three days after my tat started looking ugly. I bought the product, put it on and the tattoo started to get worse. I went to my Dr. on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015. He told me it is infected and prescribed me an antibiotic called Cephalexin. I have to take it until it's gone. I plan to go back to my Dr. after I am done with the antibiotics for them to check it again. I have pictures on my cell phone of what my tattoo currently looks like, if you need proof. because he didn't have me sign a waiver or give me proper care instructions, he refuses to take responsibility for his botched work.Desired Settlement: I'd like a refund or have him close his business for good. Either one will make me happy. I understand I can't give back the tattoo, but I would like my $100 back for a botched job. maybe even interest in that $100 for having to take antibiotics. If this is not resolved, then I will take him to court for a botched job, my infected left forearm and the meds I have to take that HE should pay for.

In response to this complaint. This client was previously tattooed by me with no problem. The tattoo looked fine when she left. All procedure was followed and client was given public health dept. approved aftercare instructions that were verbally gone over with her. I am inspected by the health dept. and receive stellar reviews. It's unfortunate she chose not to accept responsibility for her not properly caring for the tattoo. Response:

I am rejecting this response because: He lied to me by saying that he verbally told me how to care for my tattoo, and he didn't. Nor did he have me sign a waiver with either tattoo. I even have a witness when I got my baby feet tattoo. She watched Mr. Starr do my tattoo. Her name is [redacted]. Her email is [redacted]. Her cell number is [redacted]4. She will vouch for me. Mr. [redacted] didn't even give me any written instructions. He assumed I knew what to do. I was told to keep my tattoo wrapped until I got home, then I could unwrap it. I unwrapped it when I got home, dabbed it dry from the sweat, then took a shower. Afterwhich, my friend put lotion on it for me. The tattoo artist she goes to says to use that. I noticed that my forearm didn't look right after my tattoo was done. It looked bigger than my right forearm and it didn't feel right, either. I couldn't use my left arm much, and I'm left handed. I went to my doctor the following week because my arm didn't feel right. I found out it was infected. The fact that Mr. Starr is saying that I, in someway, infected my arm, is not true. It was starting to get infected the same day I got my tattoo. As for my personal hygiene? I had taken a shower that same morning before I went in to get my tattoo. My next step is calling the health dept. and reporting him to them and I will send them pictures of what my tattoo looked like after the infection set in.
