Business Response /* (1000, 14, 2014/12/03) */
My name is [redacted] and I am the Director of Technical Services at Old World Industries. Upon receiving the complaint from the Revdex.com on behalf of Mr. [redacted], we contacted him and sent him a call tag in an effort to retrieve the product in...

question and evaluate it's performance. When we received the unit we found that it was manufactured in April of 2012. Making it 2 and 1/2 years old. Despite this we found that when we charged the unit it ran for about 15 minutes. While this is shorter than the (up to 25 minutes) that it should run when new, it is not a new unit and is well out of the one year warranty time period. In any event we opened up a new unit charged it and tested it to make sure that it ran for over 25 minutes. Mr. [redacted] was then informed by phone that he would be receiving an opened unit that was tested to be within specification. He was pleased with the outcome so we now consider this claim satisfactorily closed.

This is the first notification from the Revdex.com that we have received regarding this issue.
The customer, [redacted], initially contacted us 3/18/14 and informed us of the issue with her vehicle. Around that time a repair shop inspected...

her vehicle and told her that the PEAK 12V heater Defroster PKC0J5 had caused the 12 volt power receptacle and radio in her vehicle to fail. The customer sent the repair shop's estimate back to us along with the allegedly defective unit within two weeks of OWI sending her the UPS return label.
After we received the unit in early April 2014, we tested it in house and found that the unit had no visual signs of damage and that it operated the way it was designed to. There was no sign of overheating or smell associated with the unit that would indicate that it had burned internally. It was because of this, that we determined that the burning smell that the customer claims to have been caused by the PEAK 12V heater Defroster PKC0J5 was likely to have originated from the vehicle's electrical system and not the PEAK 12V heater Defroster PKC0J5.
Since the vehicle's electrical system had failed and not the unit they had purchased, we determined that the damage specified on the vehicle repair estimate was caused by an issue that is specific to the vehicle's wiring system and not to the PEAK 12V heater Defroster PKC0J5. Had the PEAK 12V heater Defroster PKC0J5 failed to operate, this may have indicated an internal issue with it, which would have supported her claim that the PEAK 12V heater Defroster PKC0J5 was the cause of her vehicle's electrical issues, however this was not the case. This was communicated to the customer at this time.
The customer did not contact us for about eight months after the initial contact back in March of 2014. When the customer contacted us again in November of 2014, it was again explained to her that her claim was denied because there was nothing wrong with the PEAK 12V heater Defroster PKC0J5 in question. We will happily return the unit in question as it still operates or if she wishes we will send her a new replacement unit instead.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 16, 2015/02/24) */
The email I recieved was in my spam email, sorry that I Did not respond, I am not satisfied with there response, and I did contact them right after this happened, they told me to bring it to a mechanic and get an estimate, which I did, this also cost me 60.00 more. I had tried to call them numerous times and they kept putting me on hold and telling me the guy was not in, than they stopped answering my phone calls, My vehicle does not have any electrical problems other than the wires that are all melted together do to there product. I believe this company is lying and may have switched products since I was naive in believing them when they told me to send estimates and product back to the company, as soon as I sent it this is where they would not contact me. If need be I can bring my vehicle in and have them take it apart to send pictures of all the melted wires, and mechanics that have said it was caused by that product, I have looked up the reviews on this same product and there are many people that this same thing has happened to them. Please look into this some more, Thank you [redacted]
