I am writing in response to your letter dated October 19,
regarding a dispute over cleaning charges deducted from former tenant
*** *** who lived at *** ** *** *** ** *** *** *** I do
not keep any tenant's money withheld for legitimate charges deducted from
security
deposits after a tenant vacates a propertyThe money withheld goes to
pay the cost of remedying the damages left by the tenant who vacatedIt is not
my responsibility to pay for inadequate cleaning and just absorb those costs
myselfTo do so would amount to a reduction of rentOld World Properties
leaves the apartments it manages in clean, mocondition for incoming
tenants and expects the property to be returned to it in the same condition
wear and tear does not consist of inadequate cleaningMs*** completed a moinspection (see copy of moinspection) when she moved
to the apartment and said nothing about inadequate cleaning on the mo
inspectionShe could have contacted me for an accompanied move-out inspection
but did not choose to do soI have included a copy of the bill for the
additional cleaning which was done to her apartmentMs*** took the liberty
of throwing away all inch mini-blinds throughout the apartment which belonged
to the owner and replacing them with cheap vinyl blindsThis she did without
the knowledge or consent of the ownerHer cat destroyed old but otherwise
still usable wall to wall carpet in the bedroom hallway area forcing a
replacement of the carpetShe also kept a dog in the apartment which was not
allowed under her lease either as a visitor or as a residentIn short, I do
not scam anyone out of moneyThe few others who have complained before had similar
disagreements over deductions made from depositsThey, as well as Ms*** just expect me to eat the cost of legitimate deductions for damages which
occurred in their apartments or housesI am sorry to have had to make a
deduction from Ms*** deposit but I don't think it is fair for her to
expect me to have to pay for correcting damages to her apartment which were
hers to make
