On 11/5/14, we placed an order with O.W.D. for 32 pieces of 5" round downspouts, 4 elbows, and 64 downspout straps. These materials were urgently needed for an ongoing construction project subcontracted to us by a high-profile general contractor. Payment in full ($2,660.20) was made immediately by credit card to expedite order processing.
Over the course of the next five weeks, we made numerous phone calls to [redacted], our sales representative, regarding the status of our order. Each time he blamed in-house delays and promised our order would ship at a later date. Our order was postponed in this fashion at least three times, with no updates being offered by [redacted] when each deadline passed. When we would call each week to ask where our shipment was, he would offer a new explanation of why our parts had not yet even reached their shop's production department.
On 12/12, we again spoke with [redacted] and expressed our frustration that more than one month had passed since our order was placed with absolutely no progress being made on its fulfillment. We indicated that our order would be cancelled the following week if he could not guarantee shipment on or by 12/15, a promise he was not able to make at that time. When we called again on 12/15 to see if any progress had been made, we were told to expect a ship date of 12/18. Unwilling to endure another barrage of delays and postponements, we proceeded with cancelling our order and requesting a full refund - a request which was in fact accommodated.
Despite having received a refund for the purchase price of the materials ordered, the unprofessionalism of O.W.D. resulted is us being embarrassed by needless jobsite delays. Had we known that it would be necessary for us to fabricate the materials in-house, we could have begun this process five weeks earlier and avoided a considerable amount of unnecessary frustration.
