Business responded to complaint Please find the following response for Complaint #: *** in regards to customer: *** *** ** *** *** *** *** ** ***Mr*** requested a free inspection and estimate in December of to replace his second floor ("upper")
front porch roof.(Please see attached estimate/proposal signed by Mr***.)Our proposal including tearing off the existing porch roof, inspecting for any bad roof decking, replacing roof decking as needed (see Note in proposal on replacement costs), installing drip edge to eves, installing a new roof, replacing and securing the siding on the front of the roof (see photo entitled "Pictures From December 2014" note area circled "A") and repairing the vinyl ceiling on the second floor porch as needed as it was sagging in some areas and needed to be secured (see photo entitled "Pictures From December 2014" note area circled "B").In June when weather permitted the repairs began with approval from Mr***.Our technicians completed tearing off the porch roof and exposed the rotted wood beneath, replaced the bad roof decking, installed a new roof, and repaired the siding on the front of the roof Our technicians attempted to repair the vinyl ceiling panels of the porch Upon trying to repair and secure the ceiling panels to the wood above they found that the vinyl pieces would not stay in place properly Our technicians then removed the vinyl pieces and found that the wood above the ceiling was rotted (see attached photos entitled "Pictures from June 2015") which made it impossible to properly fix the vinyl ceiling and secure it in place In addition when the vinyl panels were removed it was also noted that the support posts were improperly installed by others The support posts should have been attached at the headers which would secure the area but instead were not which caused the posts to push through the ceiling over time due to the rotted wood above the ceiling We notified the customer of the rotted wood above the ceiling and the improper support beams and provided an estimate prepared June 8, for additional work to be completed in order to move the support posts to the correct location and replace the rotted wood above the ceiling We have not heard back from Mr*** in regards to moving forward with repairs. If Mr*** does not want us to complete the additional repairs as outlined in the second estimate we can credit Mr*** $off of his final bill (which currently has an outstanding balance of $400.00) for repair of the vinyl ceiling which was not able to be completed due to the rotted wood above it leaving nothing to secure the ceiling to. * Please find attached the initial proposal, the second proposal for additional work, and photos from both December (before project initiation) and June.Regards,Tera ReaderEast 152nd StreetCleveland, OH 44110Office: 216-451-1355Fax: 216-451-1347Reader Roofing, Heating & Cooling, Inc.Treating People Right with Fairness, Honesty & Quality for Three Generations

Business responded.  See attached also. Please find the second response for Complaint #: [redacted] in regards to customer:  [redacted]In Mr. [redacted]'s response to our initial response he states that there was a visible portion of the upper porch ceiling that exposed significant wood rot claiming that we knew he would have further issues that we did not quote for him.  This was not the case as can be seen in our "before" photos of the location (please see attached).  The before photos of Mr. [redacted]'s roof show that portions of the vinyl panel ceiling were sagging and needed to be reaffixed.  Our estimate included fixing this sagging issue in his proposal.  Our estimator did not remove any of the vinyl ceiling pieces during the free estimate as it is against company policy to manipulate or remove any materials from a potential customer's home as it could cause damage that we would then be responsible for. Once the estimate to complete work was approved and signed by Mr. [redacted] and we began work our tech could not secure the sagging ceiling tiles due to rotted materials above the ceiling panels.  Our technician removed a few of the panels to identify what was causing the issue (see the photos taken in June once work began attached). As stated in our previous response, securing the vinyl ceiling panels would have been a simple repair and would cost approximately $75 and we would be willing to credit Mr. [redacted] this amount. Regards,Tera Reader676 East 152nd StreetCleveland, OH 44110Office:  216-451-1355Fax:  216-451-1347Reader Roofing, Heating & Cooling, Inc. Treating People Right with Fairness, Honesty & Quality for Three Generations
