I received a call from an NBA representative prior to this written responseThe representative was very friendly and helpful in explaining that the website I paid a deposit to is not affiliated with the NBA and that I should dispute the charge with my credit card companyThe representative explained to me that the NBA experienced issues with this same unaffiliated website during the last All-Star Weekend and that the only official website for All-Star tickets is ***I feel that since the NBA was already aware of the issue NBA fans experienced with the unaffiliated website during the last All-Star Weekend, the NBA should have done something to prevent this website from scamming NBA fans for the up-coming All-Star weekend...or at least warned fans by advertising that *** is the only authorized retailer of All-Star ticketsAlthough I understand that the unaffiliated website is the guilty party for cleverly scamming people, I feel that a company as big and well-regarded as the NBA should have taken more steps to look out for its fans when it became aware of the issues with the unaffiliated website during the last All-Star Weekend. As I mentioned to the representative, I tried to surprise my boyfriend with to tickets to the All-Star Weekend because he has been so supportive of me during my first year in law school, and we have enjoyed watching the dunk contest together for the past few yearsBeing that I am in school, I cannot yet afford thousand-dollar tickets to this eventI relied on the unaffiliated website's representation that the tickets would be $Again, I understand the NBA did not make this representation to me, but the NBA knew that the unaffiliated website was making this type of representations to NBA fans and didn't helpI think the NBA should make this right by the true fan in this situation: my boyfriend, who will be crushed if I am unable to take him to the All-Star Weekend.
