Review: In November 2010, I contracted with [redacted] to repair and restore my deceased mother's cherry wood dining room table, which was broken. My mother had always lamented the fact that the dining room table was too small, and so I asked [redacted] if it was possible to extend the table as well as repair it. He took measurements and made recommendations for a longer table. I chose two new pedestals in keeping with the extended table length (3 1/2 feet longer), and the first restoration was completed and installed in mid-January 2011. The table looked beautiful and stately, but the two huge leaves, which had been deployed as part of the extension, began to sag in less than three weeks and sections of the table started to separate along the joints. (I thought the extension was to be accomplished by adding two smaller leaves to the one existing leaf which I handed over to [redacted], but [redacted] and I neglected to specify the number of leaves, only stating several in the agreement.) In any case, when the table began to warp three weeks after the installation, I couldnt believe my eyes. I reported the trouble to [redacted] and he sent one of their craftsmen to my house in mid-February to inspect the table. This happened on the same day [redacted] was returning a chestnut kitchen table, which I had asked [redacted] to repair and restore in January when they returned the restored cherry wood table. Fortunately, the chestnut table was restored and re-finished to perfection, and I have not experienced any problems with that table, nor with the four chairs which I also had refurbished by [redacted]. They all look beautiful and are functional. The problem is with the original job, the cherry wood dining room table. I believe [redacted] has been stringing me along since March 2011 with one excuse after another because he has a lot of big installations, which continue to take precedence over my smaller job, and he is not motivated to assign expert craftsmen to a job that has already been paid for in full.

Review: I sent a pair of chairs to have metal work done, proposed cost $1200. Rebuilt a drawer pull, proposed cost $250. I was required to pay 50%, $725.00 which I did and have a canceled check and receipt to prove it.

1) They did more work than I requested. They claim I called requested additional work of restoring leather. I did not do this, they can't tell me the date when I requested this and of course this there is no signature or 50% deposit to back up their claim.

2) To make matters worse the recoloring of the leather devalues the chairs by about $3000. In most cases of antique and vintage furniture, original good patina is the most desirable, in the case of these chairs they were excellent.

3) They keep invoicing me for the wrong amount. They won't even acknowledge the $725.00 already paid, which I have a canceled check showing they deposited it, and a receipt. All the while they are charging me storage fees of $150.00 a month, another paper they sent says storage is $110.00 a month. This is like a scam, they don't recognize the money already paid, then are charging me for storage while I try to get a correct invoice.

4) They are threatening to sell the chairs (retail value $12,000 before bad leather work) to cover a questionable amount of money due to them. The drawers belong to a $2500 desk, which is almost worthless without drawers.

5) On the phone yesterday 07/25/2013. [redacted] finally acknowledged receipt of $725, but can't give me a final corrected invoice before the date that he is threatening to sell chairs.

They have charged me sales tax and interest on the $725 that was already paid. I have submitted a NJ resale form to him, yesterday was the first time he requested it.

6) Added note, they send invoices on proposals which have to be signed approving costs and work to be done accompanied by a payment. This was never offered to me before work they did the work, in other words they're not following their own policies.Desired Settlement: MOST IMPORTANTLY I WANT TO GAIN POSSESION OF THE CHAIRS AND DRAWERS.

In a just world, they owe me money for damages done to the chairs. That being said I'm willing to go as far as paying what they claim I owe if they just send an invoice with correct total amount.......showing what I already paid minus the interest charge and sales tax, which I'm not obligated to pay since these items are for resale.

I don't believe I should pay any storage fees when they can't even give me a correct invoice as of today.

I of course want the most advantageous results to my benefit, because I believe I'm correct.

ONE MORE THING, I'VE STARTED TO GET THE FEELING HE DOESN'T WANT ME TO PICK THE CHAIRS UP. I'M WONDERING IF HE EVEN HAS THEM YET.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

Review: This is the issue: I was told in May 2012 by Olek & Co that I need to give them a $700 deposit to fix my 2 Eames Chairs(alued at $6000 each) based on an acceptable estimate. I was promised one chair would be fixed & returend by my departure to New Mexico on 6/15/2012. It was not ready. They then found more things to fix and continued after a time to find even more things to fix. The bill got very high +$3000. They agreed to accept payment for one chair and ship it. I sent a check for $1584. Instead they claimed I had not paid enough of a deposit -- though I paid what the invoice stated - they refused to ship and added without warning storage outrageous charges and interest. We battled for some tine then I "gave up " and we negotiated a solution. THOUGH I WAS NOT HAPPY I PAID THEIR INFLATED STORAGE AND INTEREST CHARGES -- on their written promise that (on July 8,2013) the would ship both chairs. They have my money $4000+ and won't return the chairs.

They are nasty and resentful, blame 100% of the delay on me, blame me for the insufficient deposit I was told to pay

and have a series of broken promises on payment, added storage and finance charges and no delivery. I am beside myself and 2000 miles away.

I have a string of emails to support all this. They have been thoroughly unresponsive.Desired Settlement: I would like them to ship me my chairs. I would like them to take responsibility for their lies and misrepresentations. (ie promising to send chair #1 - instead the held my money and charged me interest and storage on the bill. Yet they have been holding my $4000+ and refused to ship the chairs. I did ask that they ship me the chairs at their cost as compensation for the use of my $4000+. and the fact that they promised to ship in early July and now it's late September.

Bottom line I'd like my chairs and feel we should find a compromise that addresses their extra charges (storage and interest) and use of my money. I an effort to compromise, though I asked them to pay the shipping, I settle on us splitting the shipping cost 50/50.
