Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: What this funeral home said is only partly true. [redacted] refused to call her bank to verify funds, insisting it was my job to prove by obtaining a copy of the check that the funds were deducted from my account. My bank does not locate checks or provide copies of checks without visiting the branch first. I explained this to [redacted] as well as gave her all the information I had. I never asked them to hold the funds, they decided that on their own. I do not know why they did not deposit the check upon me giving it to them, but that was their choice to hold it. I did not know they held the funds until they called me and let me know what they had done. Of when I told them to cash the check and said they should have done so upon receipt. This case can be considered closed as they did finally decide to refund my money. This was only done so after I explained to [redacted] that the only way I was going to the bank to obtain a copy of the check is if I was taking her to court, and if that happened she would be forced to pay all related fees and lost wages. When I asked [redacted] about paying the related fees for the search and copy of a check from 2016, she refused to pay anything and said that it would be my responsibility, that it was a simple phone call. Avoid this company as they "misplace" checks, refuse to verify, refund, or pay other funeral homes when everything is "transferable". To me they were attempting to hide the funds they received.

[redacted]January 27, 2018Revdex.com Corporate OfficeTO Whom It May Concern;ID # [redacted]In reference to the following complaint the complaint came to the funeral home and said her loved on was in the hospital back in...

May 2016 and was not expected to live and needed to disburse the funds and make arrangements She was told that we would hold the check for her loved one. The person got well and continued to gain better health until their death in December. We held the check for over 6 months and finally she told us to deposit her check, our company was in the process of changing from Frost to Bank of America Bank Institutions. The complaint did not use our mortuary for any services and did not have any proof of the death at the first time of contact we told her we needed a death certificate and a copy of her check front and back because it could not be located. The reason was the counselor held the check for 6 months before getting approval to be deposited. It was explained to her our records had been purged and if she had a copy of the check it would go faster as she insisted on us writing a check to a funeral home out of town that she choose to do her funeral service for her loved one, She was also told if she incurred any fee from her bank for requesting a copy she would be reimbursed, but not her lost wages and it was then suggested to go online or by phone and she refused. She was told a check could only be made out to her not the funeral home out of town and a check was mailed to her and has been cashed by the complaint. I feel we have taken care of everything and in less than 10 days of the proof of death from the Funeral home of her choice she did receive her funds in full Ck #3438 dated January 17,2018, only after it was verified by our company that the check had been cashed by our funeral home. We are sorry for the confusion, but we needed to verify the funds before we could write a check for $1905.00.Sincerely,Southside Funeral Home
