Paranoid owner/employees. They must have had a lot of angry customers in the past. Required a $62.50 deposit just to drop off my generator for repair. Wouldn't tell me what they did on it or bring it out from the back until I paid the balance.
When I brought it in I explained the symptoms explicitly and even suggested that the high altitude jet may be causing the "hunting" on idle issue. The unit has less than 8 hours use on it and I've had it about a year and a half. It ran fine for the first couple of times I used it, and then it started hunting on the low idle position. I could reduce the hunting by pulling out the choke about half way, but at low rpm it would still hunt some.
When I went to pick it up, the total bill was $140.99 (they charged my credit card the balance before they would tell me what was wrong with it). They indicated they "cleaned the carb" among other things, including replacing a perfectly good spark plug. The following is verbatim from their bill under "technicians other comments":
"Due to high altitude jetting, unit will hunt at this elevation under no load/ECO throttle conditions. High altitude jetting is not normally required for operation under 7000 elevation. Unit now runs correctly."
Except it doesn't run correctly now. It runs exactly like it did when I brought it in for "hunting" at idle. He admits that it's a jetting problem and that it will hunt at this altitude, but doesn't replace the jet. And then says it now runs correctly. And they charged me $140. For NOTHING. When I complained, the guy said "The technician said it wouldn't idle when he tried to start it. It idles now." I'd point out that there is nothing about that on the invoice under work completed. I told him it idled just like it does now, hunting at the lower ECO setting rather dramatically. I explained the jet issue again and he said, "You bring me the jet for lower altitude and we'll put it in for free." He said he couldn't order the jet himself.
I put the high altitude jet in myself, per the manufacturers recommendation (they say it's required for over 3500 ft. elevation, and we live at 4500 ft.). I told him I'd never be back and hoped he could sleep at night. Don't use these guys. They are rude, paranoid, and lack any sense of customer service whatsoever. Plus they ripped me off for $140.
