Tried to offer me $55 for a $1200 ring and hasn't returned it yet,its been 2 weeks!!

I took a ring into the location on Saturday Jan 5, 2019 to be sized up from a 7 to a 9. *** quoted me $50 and told me that no gold would need to be added as it was a thick (10mm) wide band and more than enough gold. I received a call on Wednesday Jan 9, 2019 and told me the ring was ready for pick up. When I got there, I was told that they had underestimated & I was misinformed and that quite a large amount of 10K gold had to be added and I was looking at almost $200.I pointed out my ring was 14K, I argued and told him that wasn't my problem and asked why no one had called me to ask if I wanted to proceed. He then told me they didn't have a phone number. I told them they had no business making these decisions without permission and pointed out they called me to pick up the ring so obviously they had a number. They basically held my ring hostage and told me I wasn't leaving without paying something. I ended up having to pay $100 on top of the $50 credit I'd been given on Saturday for some scrap pieces of jewellery I sold to them. I mentioned that other jewelers said they'd be able to stretch that band without adding gold and all he could say was I better pay or I wouldn't get the ring back. It wasn't *** (who was conveniently out of the country), but some other guy. You can see where the solder mark is on the ring - workmanship wasn't great at all.

Desired Outcome

I would like to get some of my money back - not the whole amount. I should have realized that when there was no sort of paper trail for any of it, I should have been suspicious. I would like to get $90 back so that I end up paying my original quote of $50 since that was inline with what other jewelers had told me.I work in a business where we provide customer service, and the customer is always right. If we misquote something, that is on us - it's not the customers fault.

We apologize for the misunderstanding. There is a $90 store credit with your name on it waiting for you at our Woodbine Mall location.

Customer Response • Jan 15, 2019

I see that they are offering a store credit, but to be perfectly honest that isn't going to do me much good. I doubt they have anything in that price range for sale, and I never planned on giving them any more business. The workmanship on the ring was terrible - it is now flawed and it wasn't when I handed it in.
I would prefer a refund on my *** or even credit for the mall itself. If there is no other alternative, then I will take the store credit and a guarantee that if I choose something it won't conveniently be 'unavailable'. ***

Thank you so much for your assistance in this matter.

We have many items $90 and under. And if you are not happy with the finish on your ring sizing, please bring it back in for a no-charge touch up.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I have changed my mind and want a refund on my *** - they own the store, they can change the policies. I have no use for jewellery as my job doesn't allow me to wear it. Due to the lack of responsiveness, I don't have a lot of trust in them. A credit on my ***, and I will forget the whole thing happened.

I visited a location in Oakville and Jacob was the one that I had the pleasure of dealing with he was *** and ***. At one point he said well I'm the owners son, as though that was a "Get out of Jail free" card. Before that he said Just make a decision and stop wasting my time. Thinking that the other locations were any better I called into the Eglinton location and I was able to speak with someone who identified himself as a manager. If I thought that Jacob was bad this person was horrible and could possibly be the father of Jacob. The most concerning thing is he was attempting to justify the bad behaviour as though I was the one that was being unreasonable. The unfortunate thing is the guy that I spoke with that said he was a manager sounds as though he is fairly old but *** and unfortunately at his age is not able to properly identify that customer service is paramount. He was thoroughly *** and to top it all off hung up the phone one me...***.

Our website does not write 70% off. It writes 'UP TO" 70% off. It is written THREE times on our home page. See the following quotes:"Your perfect find at an unbelievable price! Why pay full price when you can get up to 70% OFF?""95% of our inventory is name brand. Name brand luxury stores give you ZERO discount. We discount EVERYTHING! Up to 70% off retail prices.""Are you wondering why every item in our online store seems to be on sale? It's because of the difference between the retail price you'll find in stores and our price! Shop over a dozen designer and luxury brands and get up to 70% OFF. The brand authenticity of our merchandise is always guaranteed or your money back!"Our homepage also mentions that the products are used. You can find the following quote IN BOLD:"CANADA'S BIGGEST PRE-OWNED LUXURY RETAILER"There is no price deception as we explain on the home page that everything in store is discounted from retail prices. Once again see the following quote:"Are you wondering why every item in our online store seems to be on sale? It's because of the difference between the retail price you'll find in stores and our price!"The product page for the item that she bought has five photos. Those photos also clearly show the wear and tear on the bag. Two of the pictures are ZOOMED in on the wear and tear as to not deceive anyone. See the product page here: ***There is a link on EVERY product page to our return policy. The return policy can also be found on our FAQ page. We are not trying to hide anything. We also wrote our return policy for bags very clearly as to not deceive anyone. It states the following: "*All orders of Handbags/Purses/Wallets online or in-store are final sale and cannot be returned." You can find the full policy here: https://www.oliverjewellery.ca/pages/refund-policyWhen *** came into the store, we clearly laid all this out for her. we was very friendly and courteous. we showed her on the webpage where she could find all 5 pictures, our refund policy, where it says our items are used, and where it says that we discount off retail prices. we even offered her $100 store credit towards her next purchase. No matter how many times we patiently explained all of this to her, she would not accept it.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)It is illogical and *** to list the original retail price of high end brand names when items are refurbished. This leads the buyer to think they are real, and NEW. No on in their right mind would pay over $1000 for a broken bag that isn't even refurbished. Especially because they listed the full price as $1900 which is the original price of a NEW BAG. Then stated it was on sale. I would have been suspicious if the bag wasn't listed in such a way, but the way they framed it, it appeared NEW.On the website, there was initially only 2 photos, the others were added later, after the purchase. This is a sneaky maneuver on the behalf of Oliver's Jewelers. The two photos present at the time of purchase was also very low quality. They were taken from the same angles as the ones on the official brand site. The store credit was not offered, and I am looking for a FULL REFUND and will settle for nothing less. There's also the fact that the bag isn't even refurbished, as they stated on their website, it is a torn, stained, old bag that was sold for over $1000. It is inconceivable that the product I received for that price is in such poor condition.I understand Oliver's Jewelers do not normally give refunds, that is why I'm filing this case to Revdex.com. This is no way to do business. What they led to believe me I was purchasing, was not what they sent. This is false/*** advertising. I will settle for nothing less than a full refund.
