This letter is in response to your letter dated January 5, 2016 regarding the complaint from Mr. A regarding his daughter's emergency room visit on November 20, 2015.

2015 regarding his concerns about what a facility fee is and at that time he stated he understood why this was being charged. He agreed to do a zero percent bank loan to adjudicate his account. OMC offers a sixty month zero percent bank loan; but we did allow Mr. A to exceed this time frame.
A facility fee is charged to cover the expenses due to staff other than the physician, such as nurses, and for the building expense and other overhead costs. A facility fee charge is based on the facility fee level. We utilize a computer program called "Lynx" to help properly identify the correct facility fee level. Staff does not know ahead of time what the facility charge will be as the patient may not have been seen yet or could still be in the exam room being treated by a provider.
Our Coding Department did review Mr. A's daughter's account to determine if the billing was correct and based upon a review of the provider's documentation it was deemed that the charges were billed appropriately. The charges for Mr. A's daughter's November 20, 2015 emergency room visit were billed appropriately; however, we are willing to do a one-time goodwill adjustment of 50% of the facility fee. We will post an adjustment of $356.00 to the hospital account.
